Chapter 1280 - 1259: Ghost Strikes

Chapter 1280: Chapter 1259: Ghost Strikes

The two of them did not expect the honorable ’Dungeon’ City Lord would slide under the table shamelessly, catching them off guard for half a second. Yet, this brief moment was enough for Lao Jiu to seize an advantage.

A hand already grasped one man’s ankle from behind, its icy fingers like a zombie from the grave. The man standing on the table was startled, realizing it was too late to pull back his left foot.

The five fingers on the ankle tightened with the strength of steel claws, firmly digging into the flesh. In pain, the man flipped his body, raising his weapon to chop at the wrist clutching his ankle.

Hehehe! From beneath the table came the dry laugh of a ghost, as the wrist seemed to have eyes, flipping the left leg sideways at the moment the weapon came down, causing the man on the table to topple over it, while the weapon thudded into the tabletop, going one third deep. Luckily, the chop of the weapon fixed the man’s dragged body in place, or he would have been pulled to the ground.

"Watch out!" Before the man on the table could take any action, he heard the cry of warning from the other man, and reacted merely by sound, slapping the table with one hand to gain leverage and pull out the weapon.

Feeling his restrained left leg tremble, Lao Jiu was already executing a hand blade with his right hand, slashing diagonally toward the grasped left leg.

The swift wind was like lightning, the blockade to attack was completed in a blink, leaving witnesses in disbelief as if in a phantom.

"Ah!" The man screamed in agony, as the hand blade struck like searing fire. The fingertips moved across the flesh, from the left shoulder down to the right rib, sending blood splattering everywhere.

Seeing his companion wounded, the man wielding the mother wheel rushed forward. "Don’t worry, I can handle this guy alone!" The injured man lifted himself like a carp, kneeling on the table, half his body engulfed in blood.

Hehehe, Lao Jiu stared at him with bloody eyes devoid of sympathy, as if the two before him were already certain to die.

The injured man shouted, swinging the weapon in his hand and leaping with precision and craftiness aimed at Lao Jiu’s lower abdomen.

Hmph! With a cold snort, Lao Jiu suddenly extended his right leg, and as the man landed, it swiftly struck, without any disturbance, aiming for the incoming right hand wielding the wheel.

The injured Assassin sought to evade, having underestimated his opponent; anyone capable of becoming the ’Dungeon’ City Lord was unbeatable for someone like him. The speed and strength of the attack came with absolute confidence, pressing him with the force of a thousand horses, forcing retreat and dodge, even before fully executing a single move with the weapon.

Crack! He heard the familiar sound of his kneecap breaking, like wood burning in a furnace. The injured Assassin stared at his entire leg stunned for a few seconds, then screamed sharply, abandoning the weapon to clutch his right leg with both hands, thrashing madly on the table.

There were no visible wounds or protruding bones, but the sound of bone breaking echoed unmistakably.

"How does it feel?" Lao Jiu stood on spot, pondering how one could make such a brutal attack seem so clean. If Xiao Lin were to strike, blood and flesh would splatter everywhere, yet the visual impact was entirely different. Even though the effect was the same, this visual stood out more than bloodshed.

The Assassin stared blankly at his right leg, his world seemingly quieted down, not moving, not crying out, just foolishly staring at it. Never had he been defeated so badly, nor been rendered completely ineffective before even executing an effective attack.

"Run! Quick, run!" Finally, the Assassin yelled at his companion, knowing that even together they wouldn’t be able to withstand, let alone against the main protagonist. "Hurry up, run!" He said, tossing the weapon to his companion, his eyes bloodshot.

Witnessing the Assassin like this, Lao Jiu felt a little moved, but not enough to incite any mercy. Taking a step forward, he leapt in front of him, his extending right fist suddenly redirected to the adjacent person.

"No!" The immobile Assassin lunged desperately at Lao Jiu, at the critical moment, tightly embracing his left leg.

"Is he worth saving?" Lao Jiu asked the person under him.

"Run!" The person nearby seemed paralyzed by fright, remained motionless, only moving toward the door when hearing the man’s shout again.

As his companion left, the injured man laughed heartily, tightens his grip around Lao Jiu’s leg to immobilize him.

The dying man’s explosive strength was surprising, Lao Jiu pulled several times without freeing from his grasp. His gaze cold, his right hand like a sharp dagger, stabbed forcefully into the man’s back. The hand pierced through his chest, as the arm withdrew, blood gushed like a string of pearls, and his right palm held a weakly beating heart.

"Has anyone ever told you, as Assassins, to dig out the target’s heart and crush it after killing them, so nightmares won’t follow you? But nightmares have already been killed by your target."

Thud! A muffled sound made the hand pause. The person at the door had no courage to look back, hearing the rustling behind, felt cold creeping closer.

"Why flee? Why abandon your companion at the end? He died for you, yet you discarded him! Perhaps you wouldn’t have fled, I wouldn’t have killed such a loyal person and let him join my ’Dungeon.’ Why did you leave him behind and flee? You deserve to die more than him!"

The ghostly voice resounded behind, penetrating his mind, trickling into his bloodstream.

Ahhhhh!

As a sticky hand touched his neck, he couldn’t hold back, screaming frantically. (To be continued. If you love this work, visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets; your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please go to m.qidian.com to read.)
