Chapter 1287: Chapter 1266: Encirclement and Pursuit
Xiao Lin stepped forward and pulled out his dagger, wiping it across the man’s body, watching as the people arrived in front of him, seven in total. "Let’s go together!"
Here, let’s settle this. Xiao Lin fearlessly gripped the dagger in reverse, his steps drawing eerie shadows. Occasionally, he leaped into the air, shifting positions at will, appearing before them at tricky angles. His hands flew rapidly, and where they touched, blood splattered in bursts, turning living beings into souls silently. The seemingly simple process possessed immense shocking power, delivering fatal blows to seven people in the shortest time. The most terrifying part was that it took no more than one move per person. This kind of shock could likely only be truly felt by those close to the Grim Reaper, bringing endless psychological oppression to the remaining individuals.
Crack! Sleek fingers pierced through the darkness suddenly and reached the chin of the person ahead, moving so swiftly that only the chilling sound of bones cracking was heard. In less than five minutes, of the remaining seven, only two were left standing.
One of them turned back to glance at the person behind, his eyes seemingly pleading for something. Yet, after a long time, he heard no sound from behind, so he mustered the courage to look back, only to see the person behind bending down to draw a short knife from his boot, discarding the gun in his hand, and leaping forward.
While this person was still in bewilderment, thinking his captain wanted to make a final assault, the direction of the short knife was unexpectedly towards his chest. Xiao Lin tilted his head, watching this dramatic turn of events without stepping forward to intervene.
"Captain? Why---" He couldn’t understand why his captain would do this. However, the short knife pierced too deeply into his chest, a slight twist shattered his fragile heart. Until his death, he never understood why he had to die.
The man withdrew his short knife, suddenly fell to the side, and simultaneously flicked his wrist, sending the knife flying towards Xiao Lin’s face. Xiao Lin stepped aside with a sidestep, dodging the attack. The knife tip embedded into the treetop behind him, while taking advantage of the moment, the man escaped without a trace.
To kill his teammate so he could escape with such villainy, truly worse than scum!
Not in a rush to chase the man, Xiao Lin looked at the corpses and sighed. As the man escaped the woods, an imperceptible shadow quickly followed behind him, disappearing at the edge of ’Wagongnai.’
"Bury these people well, identify them, and send condolence money to those with families." Xiao Lin slowly walked out of the woods, speaking silently to the air. The cigarette he lit was quickly dampened by the moist air. For tonight’s slaughter, he had no thoughts to speak of, only pondering whether it was worth creating so many casualties for his own desires.
"Yes!" After Xiao Lin issued the order, several shadows flashed into the woods. These people had always been there, like shadows following Xiao Lin, left by Yelü Shou as a shadow division. As for when they started, Xiao Lin himself did not know, only discovering the oddity by accident. In this aspect, he had to admire Shou’s meticulousness.
"It’s not that you don’t know; you just don’t want to know." These were Yelü Shou’s original words, with no apology for his overly cautious approach, regardless of Xiao Lin’s anger.
"So, except for using the bathroom, most of my time is spent under their watchful eyes!" Reflecting on why he was so angry at the time, he now finds it amusing.
"Even in bed!" These four words were enough to enrage Xiao Lin. This meant no privacy, even in bed, perhaps fully visible, or at least heard.
"Withdraw!"
"No!"
Yelü Shou’s stubbornness is only understood by Xiao Lin, so the matter ended unresolved. This secret is known only to the two of them. If Xiaoxue found out, he’d never dream of getting into bed for the rest of his life.
Xiao Lin walked along the street. The shadows above him did not stop, following the person ahead all the way west.
Busy with escape, the person paid no attention to those behind him. After getting into a car parked by the roadside, he quickly drove away. The shadow glanced at his fleeing direction, turned, and slipped into a dark alley. Not long after, the roar of an engine was heard. A black motorcycle streaked out from the alley, its massive frame devoid of any color beyond black. In the light, only its reflective points added sheen to its black appearance. The motorcycle and rider appeared to meld into the darkness, seemingly devoured by it.
At the third street corner, the shadow caught up with the fleeing man, maintaining a certain distance on the road and tailing him to a building. The motorcycle stopped at the street corner. The man dismounted, glanced around, and quickly dashed into the building.
Looking up at the elevator, it had remained on the fifteenth floor. The man angrily pressed the button repeatedly but couldn’t get the elevator to budge. Another elevator was out of service. It was still early morning, and only one elevator was operational for safety.
The man looked up at the elevator again before heading to the stairwell. Fortunately, the building wasn’t high, but it wasn’t low either. Breathless, he exited the ninth-floor door and, after a long walk, turned left into another long corridor.
The building had some history, built with cramped specifications. Each hallway housed four units, with the elevator in the middle, forming a box-like shape. From a feng shui perspective, it was not fortunate, leaving one with half a life.
The man finally stopped in front of a door. Bang! Bang, bang, bang! Bang!
A creak, and the door opened from inside. The man walked in. The shadow emerged from the darkness, observed the room briefly, then slipped through to the other side.
The room was dimly lit, with only one lamp on. A middle-aged man sat by the lamp, with molded objects and inexplicable grinding tools before him. A tightly closed door glimmered in the darkness. The man looked at that door deliberately before sitting down.
"You shouldn’t have come here," said the man under the lamp, his right hand shaking a segment of gears, chain rattling with an eerie atmosphere. (To be continued.
