Chapter 1286: Chapter 1265: Venting or Slaughter
The motionless person knelt there like a worshipper, and if you look closely, you’ll notice his neck is no longer there, only a head resting on the shoulders. Xiao Lin’s foot from above completely snapped his neck, the bones shattered beneath the flesh, yet it held the head perfectly upright, truly exceptional.
Phew! The people to the right have been dealt with, in silence, Xiao Lin’s eye catches a glint directly ahead, a sniper scope, a red dot now appears on his body, scanning up and down.
Sigh! With a deep breath, his hands reached up, using the branches overhead to flip himself over.
The person beneath the scope suddenly disappeared, leaving the searcher disoriented, their finger hesitating on the trigger, losing sight now was daunting.
The chill of the dagger brushed against his fingertip, as though any slight movement of his finger would sever it. "Answer my question!"
The soundless blade did as expected, slicing off the finger on the trigger, there was no time to cry out, the dagger in the left hand ominously approached.
"Then there’s no need for you to live."
The bullet passing through the skull sounded like a pot bursting, stirring ripples in the water, Xiao Lin kicked over the sniper, scanning with the scope at the remaining people.
The gun is a good one, but the person is not! Good things only unleash their fullest potential in the hands of good people. Xiao Lin didn’t like hot weapons, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t skilled; even if he seldom touched them, his expertise rivaled that of cold weapons. In mere seconds, he eliminated three people one after another: one through the eyebrow, one entering the left artery and exiting the right, and another straight to the heart’s center.
With clean and swift fingers, he struck decisively, leaving no room for resistance.
"Damn it!" The consecutive fall of men angered the leader, not having even touched the target resulted in half the men dying, and if this got out, they couldn’t stay afloat. "Damn it, keep your eyes peeled."
As he spoke, the man jumped forward with his gun.
"Sir, there’s one here too!"
Originally, they thought there would only be a body on one side, but they hadn’t taken a few steps when they discovered one. The exclamation erupted, even a glance showed the gruesome state, making those following the officer want to retreat.
What kind of person is the target? None of them had seen clearly, only knew that wherever the wind passed, someone would die silently; their nerves were on high alert, the fear of life hanging by a thread spreading like an epidemic.
"Defend! Full defense!"
At the command, everyone raised their weapons; the sound of arms being checked echoed through the sky, ready to explode at any moment.
Yet, while their focus was entirely on searching for the target, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The sound of bullets tearing the air rang out, three people around the leader fell one after another, the target’s emergence immediately grabbed everyone’s attention, without needing orders, the rest sprinted towards the spot where Xiao Lin stood.
Suddenly, bullets flew everywhere, the sound of gunfire echoed.
There are still twelve people! Xiao Lin discarded the sniper rifle in his hand and slipped into the dark forest. ’Wagangnai’ wasn’t particularly special, it was just full of patches of greenery without any signs of commercial development, and it had now become the best protective barrier.
"Don’t let him enter the forest!" The target disappeared from the scope, which was not a good sign for the Hunter, especially since the opponent was a rather cunning and formidable fellow. The leader’s eyes darkened; if they couldn’t capture the target today, he and his team would have to return to that freezing cold place to continue their prison time, without any hope of release. Thinking of this, the leader could no longer hold back and raced toward the direction where Xiao Lin had vanished.
’Wagangnai’ isn’t small, due to geographic neglect and lack of urban planning, this place still retains a rather primitive ancient style, lagging behind modern facilities by several years. More old buildings and trees intermingle here, making tracking a difficult task, providing good cover for those trying to hide.
The twelve individuals split up to encircle and block off the area, instantly disappearing into the thicket. Perched in a tree, Xiao Lin closely observed the twelve who had entered, split into pairs forming six groups, and one solitary person armed with an AK guarding the rear. This person moved the slowest, and occasional electrical buzzing came from below, reminding him that the signal here was quite weak, though not absent.
Holding Dan Ning’s dagger tightly in both hands, it wasn’t as handy as a spike, but the grip was the perfect size. Leaping swiftly to a tree on the side, hanging upside down and sliding straight down, three streaks of silver light shot out between the fingers of his right hand, hitting a person’s back neck, right shoulder, and left knee. Instantly, the person who was walking upright crashed to the ground and passed out.
Everything happened so suddenly that another person, after a momentary shock, tried to report the situation via his portable mic. Before his hand even touched the mic, a pair of powerful hands from behind twisted his neck. Xiao Lin dragged the limp body, cautiously laid it back on the ground to avoid detection by those in front, removed the wireless transceiver from his head, and started running forward.
The leader checks the count every few minutes, and the communicator on his waist emitted a humming sound. The people ahead stopped and, after receiving reports, noted that one team hadn’t responded. So, two individuals ran back to investigate. Xiao Lin climbed up a tree; it was only a matter of time before the bodies were discovered. He realized he was dealing with a well-prepared unit, tense yet not flustered. Without extensive training, a typical Assassin Group wouldn’t be able to accomplish such simple obedience to orders.
The rustling footsteps below had already approached closely, Xiao Lin jumped to the other side, looping back to where the bodies were, and simultaneously, the two who had hurried over arrived at the scene.
Unexpectedly, someone stood before him; silver light gleamed from both hands. The person on the right immediately felt a stabbing pain in his eyes, sticky drops already lowered from his nose, and he couldn’t see anything through the blood mist. The person beside him swung the gun butt toward Xiao Lin to force him to retreat, while his left hand reached to drag his companion tightly beside him.
Xiao Lin sneered, transforming his left hand from a palm to a claw. Taking a large leap forward, his outstretched arm swooped down like a giant bird toward the wounded man’s face. ’Puff’! Fingers drove like Steel Claws, vigorously piercing his entire face while blood spurted from five gushing wounds. The dagger in his right hand quickly followed, stabbing into his abdomen.
"Third one!" After uttering three words, Xiao Lin coldly stared at the terrified fourth man. Pushing the dead body away with his left hand, he approached him. "Fourth one!"
His right leg unexpectedly kicked out, the toe hooked, right knee bent, and right leg struck the man’s temple, sending him flying to crash into a tree and fall to the ground. Struggling to get up, he immediately raised his gun and fired a bullet in Xiao Lin’s direction.
Perhaps knowing there was no escape, making a last desperate move, shooting wasn’t wise at this moment but undoubtedly attracted the remaining people due to the sound of gunfire.
Xiao Lin leapt to a high spot, dodging bullet fire. Treading on a tree trunk, he flipped backward through the air, twisting his waist, and pressed his knees onto the man’s shoulders nearly forcing him to kneel. Allowing no resistance, his grip tightened on the man’s head with his right hand slapping it, bouncing up. Rotating 180 degrees mid-air, a crackling sound erupted as his neck was twisted.
"Nine left!" Xiao Lin exhaled, sensing the encirclement closing in on him. He dashed to the left side. His feet moved rapidly, his figure like a wolf running through the wilderness, swift and fierce. The whistling wind ripped past his ears, appearing in front of the opponent at the fastest speed, then disappearing again, only to reappear from another direction. Wandering everywhere, occasionally confusing the opponent’s vision with his silhouette.
Ghost-like shadows brushed past one of them, silver light flashed, and the gentle radiance sliced across the man’s neck, raising a blood mist. Just as he was about to raise his gun, a painful agony emerged from the neck area, causing his sturdy body to plunge to the ground, convulsing.
Wide eyes seemed to scream, but only large spurts of blood flowed out.
Having succeeded with one strike, Xiao Lin immediately attacked the nearest person beside him; although the dagger couldn’t cause fatal damage from afar, its lethality was formidable up close. Again, closely bypassing another’s right side, when the adversary noticed his teammates’ abnormality, he was prepared. As his right arm was touched, his gun swept toward the right, perhaps too nervous, breathing heavily.
Puff, puff, puff! Three muffled sounds erupted. The shooter’s face beamed with inexplicable excitement; failing to hit at such a close range would be laughable. But opening his eyes, he found no one in sight, and his errant shots striking his comrade shocked him so deeply he froze for a half minute. Then the still-standing teammate suddenly wavered to the side, Xiao Lin’s face appearing before him, his lips curled into a sinister smile.
His left hand trembled, casting out silver light that flew diagonally past the man’s position. Assuming an error, the man intended to sweep his gun when ’puff!’ The dagger eerily pierced his brain stem from behind. "You..." He could barely utter a complete word before collapsing stiffly onto the ground. (To Be Continued. If you like this work, welcome to vote at Qidian (qidian.com), recommend, and monthly tickets.
