Chapter 1288 - 1267: Message Sent by Carrier Pigeon

Chapter 1288: Chapter 1267: Message Sent by Carrier Pigeon

The man seemed not to be interested in this. When the middle-aged man asked, he snorted coldly, and his gloved hand suddenly grabbed the iron chain, forcibly stopping its rotation and making the machine halt.

The middle-aged man raised his eyebrows and watched this person in front of him without speaking. He put down the metal in his hand before leaning back into his chair. "You’ve got the wrong person." He rephrased the same meaning.

"I only deal with money." The man chuckled a few times, his eyes firmly fixed on the door beside him.

"So, you’ve accomplished the task?" The middle-aged man was a bit surprised, having had no hopes for this person, but now he viewed him differently. "You are a person of the underworld; how did you do it?"

"Spent time and effort." The man’s eyes flickered. "At least for this amount." He extended five fingers. "I spared no effort for this kid, and nearly all my men died; shouldn’t there be some compensation?"

Hehe! The middle-aged man laughed, shaking his head. "I really can’t make the call on this, but do you have a way to prove Xiao Lin is dead?"

"It’s up to you to believe or not. I said I killed him; if you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do." The man spread his hands, and just as he did, a thug rapidly stretched out, clamping down on his wrist. Then, pulling back slightly, his other hand grabbed a nearby hammer and swung it toward the man’s head.

"Damn it!" The man didn’t expect the other party to pull such a move, cursed, and didn’t care about anything else. His wrist grazed the sand table, leaving a large area of abrasions, pain causing him to frown. As he saw the shadow pressing down, the man braced himself against the table, sprang up, and swung his legs towards the middle-aged man.

A person filled with rage is not to be trifled with. Clearly, the middle-aged man also dared not collide directly. He released the man’s hand, but didn’t move aside, instead swinging the hammer in his right hand at the man’s swaying legs.

Under bloodthirsty eyes, murderous intent spread. The man looked into those eyes and understood instantly: there would be no money, no freedom, only death awaited him.

"Did you really kill Xiao Lin?" The middle-aged man asked again, this time with a certain doubt, seeming to confirm something.

The man chuckled again, neither answering nor doing anything, but started to move towards the door with a crouched body. The middle-aged man noticed his intention and lunged forward, flinging the hammer to hit the door with a ’clang’. "Trying to leave? I doubt you managed to kill the Xiao kid, coming here to extort, you’ve found the wrong person."

With an ax in hand, the middle-aged man faced the man. His arms gathered strength, muscles tightened and thickened, veins bulged, and with a muffled roar, the ax inverted, forming a barricading wall that swept with a chill towards the man’s head.

Clang! As the ax came down, the man remembered the gun in his hand and raised it to block the attack. But the sheer force drove him into a half-crouched position.

Expecting to have evaded, the man was just about to pull out his gun to shoot when the ax moved unexpectedly. A light knife detached from the ax handle, landed in the middle-aged man’s hand, and without hesitation, pierced through the throat, swiftly followed by the axe chopping off his head.

"Lin! The pigeon has brought news." Back in Sin City, Xiao Lin didn’t immediately return to Xia Xue but first took a look at her while she was asleep and then directly took the elevator to the sixth floor.

Lao Jiu, covered in sweat, appeared in the office. The facilities here were complete, vastly superior to the city of sewers; perhaps accustomed to the dark life, Lao Jiu made this place pitch black even above ground. With fiery red hair, Lao Jiu looked at the gloomy Xiao Lin, held the note in his hand against his palm.

In modern cities, very few people use carrier pigeons anymore — almost none. Seeing Xiao Lin unmoved, Lao Jiu opened the note himself. The handwriting looked very familiar. "It’s from Shou!"

"Mm, what does it say?" Shou hadn’t died, just that some people didn’t know. Flow doing this was either for himself or others; Xiao Lin didn’t want to guess. The figure that once swept over his head, he could tell who it was by the shape, yet seeing Shou obediently obeying others was a first.

"Just two words, Hong Lian."

The last person to see that individual was Hong Lian; wanting to kill him shouldn’t be like this. Xiao Lin fell into deep thought. "Is there an exact location?"

"No further information." Lao Jiu also found it strange; evidently, Ye Lushou deliberately withheld some details. "Are you sure those assassins came from the military?"

Xiao Lin nodded, whether they’re from the military or discharged, based on their actions and obedience, they must be professionally trained. "Have him continue investigating their backgrounds, Hong Lian is not the end, it only shows that these people owe debts to Mu Rongyun."

"I think there might be a place with such a group." Lao Jiu hesitated over the answer in his mind. "Quan Xianglin has a bunch of deadpool under his command; I’m unclear if this is true, but judging from these well-trained people, they are likely them."

"Deadpool?" Xiao Lin was surprised.

"It is said that a group of death row inmates is brought to a special place for inhumane training. Those who survive become Quan Xianglin’s Deadpool, carrying out special tasks until they die during missions."

As the name implies, death row inmates are those sentenced to execution. Quan Xianglin can think of using such people, who have already disappeared from this world and cannot be traced. Who would search for dead people?

Xiao Lin was left alone in Lao Jiu’s office until a little sunlight leaked through the dark curtains, at which point he slowly opened his eyes. He hadn’t slept the whole night, always trapped in a peculiar cycle, as if ensnared by Liu Yi. Yet, in such a short time, he identified Liu Yi’s key point regarding his identity as the heir of the Xiao Family, or rather his own identity.

Casually grabbing the jacket off the back of a chair, Xiao Lin jumped off the sofa bed, tidied himself briefly, and hurried to the underground parking lot. His white Land Rover was still parked well in the garage. Just as he was about to get in the car, a flamboyant red sports car screeched to a halt beside him.

"Bro!" Hua Qingyi jumped out of the car, presenting a wide smile to Xiao Lin, despite the heavy dark circles under his eyes, making him look exhausted.

"Why did you come back so quickly? Hua Qingyi returned to Yanjing, and few people knew about this. It’s just been over a week, and he rushed back, which made Xiao Lin feel somewhat concerned."

"Where are you headed?" Hua Qingyi hooked one arm around Xiao Lin’s shoulder and rested his head on his neck. "If you’re going to the old man’s place, take me along. Coincidentally, my old man has something he wants me to pass on."

The compelling reason made Xiao Lin feel a bit troubled. "Taking me won’t cause you loss. At least I’m a lubricant, right?" Hua Qingyi winked at Xiao Lin. "Even though I wasn’t here, the news is quite well-informed. It’s just a woman who made you this way, really accomplished. When it comes to women, you need finesse, not a hard confrontation, especially when dealing with a woman who deeply loves you. It’s just stupid."

"Some things cannot be compromised. I can’t let Xia Xue down."

Hua Qingyi chuckled twice and no longer spoke of his stupidity!

Having just disembarked from the plane and hurried back, he planned to rest a bit in the car. But the guy beside him had already taken the passenger seat. Okay, since he wanted to come along, it was clear he had to play the driver!

Skillfully driving the Land Rover, Hua Qingyi woke up the still-sleeping Xiao Lin in front of a white building. "What were you doing all night, not waking up like this!" He tried pushing him a few more times but still couldn’t wake him, so he parked the car at a street corner and lit a cigarette.

"Hmm, we’ve arrived, but bro looks really tired. Let’s go inside later." The phone rang just as the engine was turned off—he couldn’t escape his scrutiny. Hua Qingyi pondered as he smoked, but before finishing the cigarette, someone came over and knocked on the car window.

"The old master invites you inside." The person appeared to be in his early thirties and was unfamiliar to Hua Qingyi. He glanced at the person beside him and shook his head.

"Wait until he wakes up!" The man looked at the person in the passenger seat, then silently returned.

"Did he leave?" Xiao Lin’s voice came from beside him, and he shifted his position, opening his dark eyes.

"So you were awake the whole time!" Hua Qingyi blinked his striking eyes incredulously at him.

"Hmm! I’m not yet prepared to go inside, but it seems unavoidable." He nodded forward, noticing that Uncle Qin was already walking over with small steps.

"Has the young master not awakened?" He peered inside through the car window.

"He’s waking up! Is it urgent?" Hua Qingyi noticed Xiao Lin close his eyes again, scratching his head as he asked.

"Hmm, maybe you should carry him inside!"

Hua Qingyi displayed a look of resignation. He scooped up Xiao Lin from the passenger seat, handed the car keys to Uncle Qin, and felt that Xiao Lin weighed much less. The car was Xiao Lin’s treasure, although not as good as the QQ in Yanjing, it was still a fine car. But why did Xiao Lin seem lighter?

After the three entered the house, Uncle Qin led them to a study room on the second floor. "The old master is waiting inside. If you need anything, just call me."

Hua Qingyi didn’t hesitate and carried Xiao Lin horizontally inside. But to his surprise, Xiao Mu was also there.
