Chapter 1299: Chapter 1278: The Stubborn Assassin (1)
The white Land Rover drove into Sin City, still a short distance from the complex building when Xiao Lin suddenly stopped the car by the roadside. He got out of the car, leaned against the car door, lit a cigarette. Late at night, the street beside him was pitch black, not even fingers could be seen, only the red dot of the cigarette end flickering on and off.
Just at that moment of pause, the air concealed a rustling sound, someone was stealthily approaching. Xiao Lin kept leaning against the car door, seemingly unaware of the unusual sound, occasionally using his toes to kick the ground, his head hanging even lower.
"Ah, tonight is really unlucky!" Suddenly he started muttering to himself, constantly mumbling.
Just as the words fell, from the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of someone suddenly jumping up, attacking from his left side. Sigh, Xiao Lin sighed, wondering where this opponent had been dispatched from, but it really was endless.
As the opponent was about to approach him, he tossed aside the cigarette in his hand, stretched his muscles, and took a step to the side. His forward-leaning body swiftly moved, yet the opponent’s leap seemed out of the ordinary; one foot landed while both feet bounced, such bizarre body technique made Xiao Lin abandon his offensive momentum and change to a defensive retreat.
"Are you Xiao Lin?" The opponent instantly appeared in front of Xiao Lin. The bland voice caught Xiao Lin’s attention. He looked equally unimpressive, speaking in a plain manner, yet his moves were absolutely extraordinary. However, the person seemed to be confirming his identity as if they had never met before.
"That’s right!"
"Hmm, then it’s you." The man no longer hesitated to make his move. His turning body spun in the air, and after a full rotation, a long whip appeared in his hand, which gave Xiao Lin a bit of a surprise. The long whip is typically more suitable for a woman; it’s a long-range weapon, best used for those with less strength, and its destructive power is not weak. Yet, for this dignified seven-foot man to use such a whip was indeed quite unusual.
The long whip coiled up, and the right leg simultaneously swept diagonally. A deep killing intent surged towards Xiao Lin under the fierce momentum of the long whip and the right leg.
Seeing this, Xiao Lin furrowed his brows. His body sank as his hands spun, blocking the opponent’s attack line as the right leg horizontally slashed, and then the long whip, like a nimble viper, suddenly coiled from the front to the left. The tip of the whip, like a small grenade, aimed at his waist muscles.
Bam, bam! Clang, clang, clang! The metallic clash sounded instantly, both individuals shuddered from the collision, Xiao Lin’s feet pressed hard, nailing him to the ground, while the assassin was shaken and repelled back.
Ugh! A roar erupted amidst the dullness, the assassin had just landed, yet before he could fully control his stance, his whole body rebounded towards where Xiao Lin had landed. His feet rapidly kicked each other to increase the rebound force, swiftly approaching Xiao Lin.
In close-quarters combat, the long whip couldn’t play to its advantage and was inserted back into the man’s waist, while his iron legs, like a whirlwind, reached Xiao Lin. The attack was several times more ferocious than before; the method gathered all the strength in these legs, an awe-inspiring force that seemed to promise complete obliteration to anything caught in their sweep.
Even Xiao Lin didn’t dare to collide head-on with these iron legs; he spun his body, dodging the fierce offensive while continually retreating. The onslaught of attacks dissolved one by one during his retreat. Despite this, the successive attacks still caused abrasions on Xiao Lin’s blocking arms, skin bursting open upon impact, oozing bright red blood.
One could hardly discern that this not particularly robust assassin launched such a wild attack, every move carrying an aggressive lethal blow, delivering an undeniable shock to the opponent, thus making Xiao Lin realize that this assassin is not someone Shao Weihua type of character could have dispatched; could it be the guy from the banquet? This mobility is truly beyond imagination.
Yet another straight-line attack with the right leg, Xiao Lin sidestepped, lifted his right leg to meet it. Instantly, in the air, the crisscrossed shadows of legs formed crisscrossed images, fast and indiscernible, as if both individuals had merged into it, and only these two legs were left of the body.
In just a few minutes, they had exchanged hundreds of moves, every exchange between experts was as swift as lightning; in the blink of an eye, dozens of moves had intersected, and rather than slowing down, they seemed to grow more intense as the fight went on.
After an attack, the assassin spun a few steps back, widened his eyes and glanced at Xiao Lin, then rose up again without the slightest pause, shooting toward Xiao Lin, while simultaneously, the long whip shot to Xiao Lin’s head.
The sharp edge of the left hand shot out, the sound of the long whip flying through the air reached the ears. Xiao Lin lifted his right leg to block the assassin’s attack, while the sharp edge in his left hand wrapped around the whip’s tail. Once again, the metallic clash resounded, but this time both sides were locked in place, neither willing to back down.
The assassin shouted, vibrating the long whip in his right hand, the whip’s tail, seemingly intuitive, withdrew back into his hand. The left palm struck toward Xiao Lin’s shoulder. Sensing the palm wind, Xiao Lin turned aside, rose on his toes, and shot up from the ground, rapidly following the path of the whip’s tail.
Xiao Lin’s attack momentarily baffled the assassin, however, when he attempted to withdraw the long whip, it was already too late. The sharp edge wrapped around the whip’s tail again, and the sharp edge of the right hand followed with perfect timing, piercing straight into the man’s scapula.
Poof! It wasn’t a very loud sound, but it echoed exceptionally clear in both men’s ears.
Even with his scapula pierced, the man wasn’t about to show weakness. He retracted his arms inward, tensed his chest, veins bulging across his muscles. As he let out a loud shout, the double arms strained outward, forcibly dislodging the sharp edge from his scapula.
Xiao Lin felt a burst of numbness in the tiger’s mouth, almost losing grip on the sharp edge. Meanwhile, the man could still strike a fierce palm aimed at Xiao Lin’s right leg. This kind of strength, not to mention its prowess, that sheer audacity to face death was enough to command respect.
The swiftly rebounding assassin astonishingly gazed at Xiao Lin, seemingly surprised that the recent attack was warded off. However, quickly, the astonished expression vanished from his face, replaced by incessant jumping of feet on the ground, alternately rubbing against each other, while the long whip was hurled far away. His body suddenly contracted, the exposed veins emphasized his strength as the whole person catapulted upward under this force. (To be continued.
