Chapter 1305: Chapter 1284: Nighttime Fire Attack

Meisai did not wait for Xiao Lin in Sin City. Sitting in the vast space, he seemed a bit out of place, while a woman leisurely ate and managed work behind a desk. Occasionally, she would glance at him before continuing with her tasks, making Meisai even more uneasy.

No introduction was needed to guess the woman’s identity. Meisai wasn’t curious enough, so he stood up. "If Young Master Xiao isn’t here, I’ll come back another day."

"He’s at Murong Lengyue’s residence now. If you have an urgent matter, you can go find her. He won’t be back tonight."

"Ah!" The woman’s crisp voice rang out like a silver bell. Meisai didn’t know what expression or language to use in response to her words, for she was calmer than he was. "Thank you, I’ll contact him."

Meisai drove to Murong Lengyue’s residence, knowing tonight would be an extraordinary one. He didn’t enter the Murong Family’s estate, stopping on the edge where even the rooftops were out of sight.

The death of a witness haunted his mind. As an experienced officer, he couldn’t find the crucial point. It seemed like an obvious silencing, but not because the victim was a witness. More so due to the unexplained cause of death, no wounds, no poison signs—how did the person die? The forensic experts were also at a loss.

The body remained in the morgue, with many signs pointing to Xiao Lin, yet Meisai’s instincts said otherwise. While hesitating, a motorcycle sped past wildly.

Xiao Lin had spent the entire night by the window, paying no mind to Quan Mingyuan’s fawning over Murong Lengyue nor reacting to Murong Lengyue’s lively behavior; he merely laughed it off. The whole thing seemed comical, unsure which of the two acted more convincingly. Either way, it was just a bedtime snack for him, a little entertainment!

Swish, swish, swish! Several sounds sliced through the air near him, followed by the shattering of glass and dull impacts.

Xiao Lin suddenly ducked from the window, quickly darting to a corner of the wall. He looked towards Murong Lengyue, and since the bullets couldn’t reach there, he was relieved.

"Young Master Quan, take Miss Murong to a safe place," Xiao Lin shouted, as two sharp spikes dropped from his sleeve, spinning rapidly in his palms.

Murong Lengyue had witnessed these weapons’ prowess; they seemed ordinary but deadly in Xiao Lin’s hands. The sudden attack wasn’t as terrifying with Xiao Lin there.

Quan Mingyuan narrowed his eyes, glanced at Xiao Lin, then swiftly moved Murong Lengyue, agreeing with Xiao Lin’s proposal to escort her out of the room. At that moment, the butler barged in.

"Miss, a group of people in black has arrived outside. We need to leave quickly while the bodyguards hold them off." Seeing Quan Mingyuan protecting the family, the butler set aside formalities, taking Murong Lengyue’s hand to lead her out.

"Where are Xiao Yue and Young Master Wu?" Murong Lengyue dodged the butler’s hand and also shrugged off Quan Mingyuan’s arm, running towards Xiao Lin.

Quan Mingyuan quickly pulled her back. "Are you crazy?" His heart nearly leaped out at Murong Lengyue’s daring move. Bullets rained down, pinning Xiao Lin against the wall.

"Miss, Xiao Yue insisted I take you out of the mansion. There’s heavy fire outside; they won’t get here for a while," the butler urged. Knowing her temper well, he glanced at Xiao Lin’s position near the window, the easiest spot for attackers. "Young Master Xiao, if you don’t leave, Miss won’t leave either."

"Knock her out and take her away, Quan Mingyuan." Without looking back, Xiao Lin grabbed a heavy object and smashed it against the remaining window frame, shouting to Quan Mingyuan. He then lept out, ignoring whether the latter complied. More bullets whizzed through, stirring up smoke as Murong Lengyue screamed and fainted in Quan Mingyuan’s arms.

Several people were already fighting on the lawn outside the building. The snipers hidden behind the trees were unclear, but their positions could be inferred by the bullet trajectories.

After taking someone’s life with a blow, Xiao Yue saw Xiao Lin jumping out, weapon in hand, pointing towards the woods ahead. Xiao Lin dashed towards the trees, while Young Master Wu blocked an assassin trying to approach Xiao Lin. The three of them cooperated seamlessly, instinctively covering each other without words.

The assassins came fiercely and quickly, knowing the Murong estate’s layout well. They knew every point and blind spot, gaining the upper hand, resulting in many deaths swiftly and silently.

Once in the woods, Xiao Lin immediately dodged to the side. Under the night sky, the woods were pitch-black, eerily quiet, not even a bird. But he knew the armed assassins lurked there. The first wave of attack had passed, leaving him to take them down one by one, simply holding on until the police arrived.

Clenching the spikes tightly, he climbed a tree, cautiously testing footholds. The trees weren’t thick, and a careless step could make him slip or break through, not fatal but exposing him as a sniper’s target.

The wind rustled the leaves, creating a hissing sound!

Squatting on a tree branch, Xiao Lin moved, diving like a large bird of prey towards the base of an opposite tree. A shadow holding a gun poked its head from behind.

The spike hit precisely into the shadow’s right carotid artery, muddled horizontally, and the body slumped to the ground. Xiao Lin surveyed the surroundings before advancing stealthily towards the forest’s deeper left side.

After dealing with a few on the perimeter, Xiao Yue saw no activity in the woods and exchanged a look with Young Master Wu. He ventured into the forest to find Xiao Lin while Young Master Wu sped towards the mansion.

Entering the forest, Xiao Yue smelled blood, encountering a corpse not far away, then another a few steps further. Each had their throat cut on the right side. This military doctor was becoming more like an assassin.

Following the trail of bodies, he soon heard the sounds of fighting, likely encountering a formidable opponent. Xiao Yue concealed himself and watched the scene.

The one snarling at Xiao Lin was just a child, still in the early stages of growth. However, under the moonlight, the child’s creepy face was unidentifiable in gender, with hands holding down, fingers claw-like. (To be continued.
