“So you're finally done with your secret meeting,” Aphrodite said in amusement. “How’s Eytelis?”
“She’s fine; she’s still in the med bay receiving medication from Spector,” Adam replied as he, Stacey, Lorelie and Rowena entered the mess hall.
Even though Spector had finished extracting Adam’s blood, Eytelis still needed some more time to fully rejuvenate, and so they had all talked for a while before Adam declared that he was getting hungry.
Spector noted that this was probably down to him donating his blood and the fact that he hadn’t eaten since before landing on Flamyre.
He had decided to head to the mess hall, and since Eytelis had insisted that the others join him, they had tagged along.
“So she did need medical aid after all?” Aphrodite asked.
“Nothing too serious, just something Spector had that could help speed her recovery,” Adam answered.
“Interesting, I was under the impression that only returning to Solarian Prime would help with that,” Aphrodite replied thoughtfully.
“Adam, Adam, my mum called,” Tephe announced as she waved at him. “She wants to talk about you being her bodyguard for the upcoming Supreme Speaker Selection.”
“She still wants that?” Adam asked in surprise. “I kind of figured she’d forgotten or found someone else since it’s been a while.”
“Want me to call her?” Tephe asked.
“Let me get some food first,” Adam replied.

Milky Way Galaxy, Earth.
It was late evening in Los Angeles, and a party had been taking place at an expensive villa in Beverly Hills since late morning.
“Tch, what a fucking waste of time,” Billie cursed after clicking her tongue. “I can’t believe we had to spend seven hours on a plane just to sing two songs.”
“It’s certainly strange that they only wanted us to perform two songs, even after paying such a huge sum to get us here,” Jeanie remarked with a frown.
“Something is definitely off about this,” Joanne murmured as her eyes scanned the crowd.
“Maybe,” Millie said as she admired Joanne. “I gotta admit, Jo, you sure wear that dress well.”
“Jo?” Joanne asked in surprise.
“What? You don’t like it?” Millie asked.
“Just wasn’t expecting it,” Joanne replied.
“Millie’s right. Why don’t you wear dresses more often?” Jeanie asked as she and Billie admired Joanne.
The four of them were currently all wearing beautiful evening gowns that highlighted all their curves.
“They're more awkward to move around in, especially these heels,” Joanne complained. “Also, I can only carry a smaller piece.”
“Smaller piece?” Billie repeated in confusion.
“She means her gun,” Millie explained. “I can’t believe you're carrying one in that dress. Where is it?”
“Probably her purse,” Jeanie suggested as she glanced at Joanne’s small purse.
“It's holstered below my dress,” Joanne replied, causing the three members of Triple Trouble to drop their eyes down her body.
“If it isn’t Millie, I knew you wouldn’t be able to stay away,” A male voice suddenly said from nearby.
All four women turned towards the voice to see Sammy Joe approaching while flanked by two burly-looking men.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Ugh, Sammy Joe, what the fuck are you doing here?” Millie cursed as she moved slightly closer to Joanne.
“They actually let an attempted murderer in?” Billie asked in anger.
“Attempted murderer?” Sammy Joe repeated in surprise. “Who on Earth could you be talking about?”
“You, you dickhead,” Billie retorted.
“Billie, calm down,” Jeanie advised as she noticed that a few of the other nearby guests were starting to take notice.
“I would listen to Jeanie’s sage advice if I were you; after all, it would be bad if news about you slandering me got out,” Sammy Joe replied.
“Slander?” Millie hissed angrily. “What about when you tried to kill me at the Alamo Hotel?”
“I don’t know what you're talking about, babe; it was that Adam Spencer who attempted to kill me after all,” Sammy Joe replied.
“You can’t be serious?” Billie asked.
“A cover-up,” Joanne suddenly said as she inspected the two burly men with Sammy Joe.
“What!” Millie asked.
“Don’t forget that David Morose was present at that time, and the Morose family own the Alamo Hotel. They probably used their influence to cover the whole thing up,” Joanne explained.
“Who’s this beauty?” Sammy Joe asked as he inspected Joanne with a smirk. “I didn’t know Triple Trouble got a new member.”
Joanne frowned as she felt his stare on him before she said in an icy tone, “Only one man is allowed to look at me like that, so either take your eyes away or I’ll rip them out.”
Both groups and even the surrounding guests who had been paying attention fell silent upon hearing Joanne’s threat before the two burly men moved forward slightly.
Joanne only glanced at them before ignoring them as if they weren’t even worth her effort to look at.
After getting over his surprise, Sammy Joe laughed before saying, “This new member of yours has a temper. I like that.”
Millie moved behind Joanne before draping herself over her as she said, “She’s not a new member.”
As she spoke, one of her hands slid down the side of Joanne’s body to where the slit in her dress was, and as she moved it aside slightly to reveal the holstered gun beneath, she added playfully, “She’s our bodyguard.”
Sammy Joe and the two burly individuals stopped slightly upon seeing the holstered gun.
“You know,” Joanne began as she glanced back at Millie. “If you keep touching me like that, I’ll have you take responsibility later.”
Upon hearing her words, Millie’s eyes widened before a flirtatious smile appeared on her lips, and she said seductively, “I wouldn’t mind that, after all; I’m sure you're far more fun to be with than that guy.”
“Millie,” Billie said while rolling her eyes.
“This girl,” Jeanie said with a sigh.
“And what guy would that be?” Sammy Joe asked while frowning.
“Who knows,” Millie said innocently as she allowed Joanne’s dress to hide the gun. “Just some two-minute wonder.”
Sammy Joe glared at Millie while Billie and Jeanie giggled upon hearing her words.
“Please, at least tell me his size makes up for it?” Joanne suddenly asked as her eyes wandered down to Sammy Joe's crotch.
“Afraid not,” Millie said apologetically.
“Probably would be better if it was just removed then,” Joanne stated in an uninterested tone, making Sammy Joe sweat, likely.
“I’m sure doing that would make plenty of people happy,” Millie giggled.
Jeanie coughed slightly before frowning at Sammy Joe and asking, “Was this your doing then?”
“Was what my doing?” Sammy Joe replied.
“Was it you who arranged for us to come perform here?” Jeanie asked.
“Who knows,” Sammy Joe replied before turning his head and saying. “Ah, speaking of David Morose, I just spotted him and must go greet him. If you’ll excuse me, ladies.”
As Sammy Joe and the two burly men turned to leave, Joanne suddenly said, “Allow us to accompany you.”
“Huh!” The three members of Triple Trouble and Sammy Joe said before Millie whispered. “What are you doing, Jo?”
“Nipping this in the bud before it becomes bloody,” Joanne replied before flashing Millie a flirtatious smile and saying. “You can thank me later.”
Joanne untangled herself from Millie’s embrace before taking her by the hand and leading her towards David Morose while Billie and Jeanie followed.
“Joanne, I’m not sure this is a good idea; Sammy Joe has the backing of the Morose family,” Jeanie warned quietly as she glanced back to see the man in question watching them with amusement.
“That’s what I was hoping you’d say,” Joanne whispered back before calling out, “Mr Morose.”
Upon hearing someone new address him, David Morose glanced back before breaking into a smile as he recognised the members of Triple Trouble.
David Morose excused himself from the people he had been talking with before approaching them, saying, “Well, this is fortunate; I was hoping I would run into you three to apologise for the little incident that recently took place.”
“It’s regarding that little incident that we approached you about,” Joanne replied.
David Morose showed a look of surprise upon noticing Joanne before politely asking, “I’m not sure we’ve met, Miss?”
“McClain, Joanne McClain. I’ve had the pleasure of working for your family a few times.”
“Is that right?” David asked. “And what line of business are you in, Miss McClain?”
“Life preservation,” Joanne replied.
“Pardon?” David asked in confusion.
Millie rolled her eyes before asking, “Why didn’t you just say, 'bodyguard '?”
“My way sounds more impressive,” Joanne replied.
“I see. Am I led to believe that you're working right now, then?” David asked as he glanced at Triple Trouble.
“That’s correct, though that’s not the main reason I approached you,” Joanne answered.
“Oh! Then pray tell your real reason,” David replied.
“For an information trade,” Joanne replied.
His interest piqued, David asked, “What kind of information?”
“The kind that will save your life and that of the Morose family,” Joanne replied with a smile while David frowned. “The deal’s quite simple, really: I’ll tell you how to fix your family’s issue, and then you tell me something I want to know.”
“What issue?” David asked with a frown.
