Two weeks had passed since the dimensional journey and the strange gift.
The first thing Peter did upon waking was check the information he had received through the Goober from Otto’s servers.
One of the many files helped him with the cloning capsule, significantly shortening the time required to complete it.
Another contained formulas and combinations for different types of web fluid, requiring him to change a few things in the new suit and Web-Shooters, but nothing significant.
One thing he did recreate, however, was the same backpack Otto had used.
The suit’s retractable legs could be used like the previous ones, forming a protective shell whenever he used his own spider limbs. The Spider-Bots were also improved using the knowledge and suggestions contained in Otto’s files, and now he had more time to be Peter rather than Spider-Man.
Whenever an accident occurred, the Spider-Bots would calculate the likelihood that his assistance was needed and indicate whether his intervention was necessary.
If it was not, they would send a signal to Cortana, who would contact the police, firefighters, or emergency medical services depending on the situation.
Now the city was better protected with the technology provided by Abstergo Industries.
One of the things he was currently working on was recreating a Richards-inspired knowledge database using the blood sample he had taken during his journey to the other dimension.
According to what the One Above All had told him, Peter 616 was changing for the better and looked more alive than before.
Also, when Peter 616 heard the news about Jonah being removed from his position, he had apparently cried all day like a baby. But what truly hit him hardest was finding out about Osborn and Beck.
During that period, nearly every villain had begun mocking Osborn and Beck, including Peter 616 during their confrontations. This caused both men to lose their tempers far more quickly, making them much easier to defeat.
Things between Susan and Peter 616 were improving with each passing day, though there was growing tension among the other girls interested in him.
The One Above All had also told Peter that Hope, upon turning eighteen, had caused quite a scene at the X-Mansion.
But the news that made him genuinely happy was the reckoning Barton, Summers, Stark, Hank, and Richards received at the hands of many heroes.
The worst part for those men was that they had now developed very specific anxieties related to Peter 616 and his black suit.
Barton was expelled from the Avengers, as was Stark, whose fortune was seized and distributed among several organizations and relief efforts.
(A/N: No Offence Iron Man fans, I am one too but not of the comics version.)
His company was absorbed by Peter 616, eventually rising to become the number one industry in New York and beyond.
Hank was in the middle of a divorce, as was Richards, whose fortune was about to suffer a fate similar to Stark’s. Richards was also expelled from the Baxter Building and the Fantastic Four.
Summers was left in a vegetative state after his confrontation with Peter 616, who had discovered what had been done to Jean and Emma.
When everyone learned the full details, they held a celebration where Nathan was seen genuinely happy for the first time.
From the day Peter had first set foot in Earth-616’s New York, everything had begun to change. The One Above All had told him that Peter 616 was constantly thanking him for what he had done and for giving him something he had dreamed of for years but never believed he could truly have.
Another development was that Peter 616 had been put on trial for everything that happened during Otto’s period of control. He was ultimately found innocent after the evidence conclusively demonstrated that Otto had been responsible for those actions.
Returning to his own affairs, Peter continued creating the Richards-inspired knowledge database because it contained information on several subjects that interested him.
One of them could help with the miniature satellite he was developing, as well as the Watchtower. Because of the miniaturization process, a single Carbunadium ingot was more than enough to create both structures.
Pym’s formula was highly underrated. With this simple principle and the correct methods, one could save enormous amounts of material.
It felt strange not having to worry about so many things anymore. With the major problems resolved, the ships ready for use, the cars upgraded and in top condition, and the suits completed, everything was comparatively simple.
At this point, he only had to take care of the city, the girls, the children, and the company.
Taking a break from the cloning machine, Peter began searching through files on his personal laboratory computer.
Something interesting had happened: he had found Tony’s video from Washington.
Before, when he had watched the film, this scene had seemed funny to him, just like it had to everyone else.
But now it only made him sigh, half amused and half disappointed. Watching the end of the demonstration and seeing how confidently Tony presented everything, a smile slowly began to form on Peter’s face.
He left the personal laboratory and went to the Suits Room, gathered several components, and placed them on the worktable.
’I had planned to do this later, but why delay the inevitable? I cannot wait to see Tony’s face when he realizes someone else created an Arc Reactor.’
"Cortana, start recording," he said while creating holographic designs of the reactor. "I want complete footage and photographs of the reactor’s construction."
"Why do you want the react—Oh~," Cortana said as realization struck her. "You really do want to humiliate Stark."
There was unmistakable amusement in her voice.
While Peter worked on the reactor, Cortana came up behind him, wrapped her arms around him, and kissed him on the cheek before leaving a cup of coffee beside him. She told him that if he needed anything, she would be training with the boys and girls.
As Peter continued working, he felt like a child on Christmas morning.
One of the greatest fantasies of any Iron Man fan was to recreate a fully functional Arc Reactor, not one of the decorative replicas people made in his previous world.
Every now and then, he found himself laughing at the thought of Tony’s expression when he realized someone else had successfully recreated his precious reactor.
Peter considered several possible approaches before settling on the design currently displayed before him.
He adjusted the internal structure, recalculated the energy flow, modified the containment system, and continued working until every component functioned exactly as intended.
When he finally finished, he stared at the masterpiece resting before him.
A soft glow illuminated his face.
Peter tilted his head slightly.
"But unfortunately, I already have a better one."
He leaned back with a satisfied smile.
"Send the images and videos to Stark. If my face appears anywhere, censor it. Encrypt my location and remove everything that could identify me or this place."
"Understood."
