Another month has passed. I feel like time is passing too fast. But hey, I am training!
So it helps that time is passing by so fast. I have somewhat tempered my body and soul.
My body can withstand high temperatures and I probably won't die even after being hit by a car. It’s all relative but I am tougher than before.
My mind is sharper than before. I can think faster than before. My reaction speed has increased a lot as well.
My training has paid off, I would say. I totally went for a Shaolin style training where those baldies did some weird training.
To be honest I wasn't too sure but now I see.
Results speak louder than words. I haven't touched that staff or the gun in this time.
But, I think I can shoot at least twice without passing out. Hazel has been with me for all this time.
She was following me everywhere. She even sat under the waterfall with me.
It felt like she was training too. Many people are saying that I am an idiot.
I'd like to digress. It's true that my formal education stopped after that incident.
But that doesn't mean I sat around doing nothing. I studied. I'd like to call myself a jack of all trades. I can do everything and nothing at the same time.
It's lunchtime and I am having lunch. I plan on fighting something. Simulations are fine but actual combat experience helps understand your own strengths and weaknesses.
Obviously I can’t fight a human. No humans remain except me. Animals would have to do. This country has many animals that were brought with the survivors.
Among them are those that were not native to this land. Sadly there are no gorillas here. Humans could not manage to save them in time.
Other animals would include cows, buffaloes, horses, sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, bears and many more. If I have to fight something, a bear would have to do.
Why a bear? Because they are big and strong and intimidating. But if I can beat a bear barehanded, then I would say, I have passed the human limits at least.
I think I can. I am not too optimistic though. So I will take some weapons with me just in case.
And when the clock struck 3 I left for the forest.
The forest outside is packed with animals.
Bears are kind of rare as they live deep inside but they do live there. I have to search for one carefully.
"Will you come?" I ask Hazel.
She just looked away from me. Maybe she doesn't want to go.
And probably warning me as well. But, there are times when a man has to do things.
"Fine. I'll go alone." I say that and take the gun and leave.
I will be running there. The distance is about a few kilometers. I will try reach there quickly.
And I start running. While running, I take a look at the surroundings. Some small animals have already entered the city.
They are living in the abandoned buildings and wandering around.
Only cats and rabbits or animals of the same size. Bigger ones aren't here yet.
And observing these, I leave the city gate.
I see the forest. I enter it and stop running.
I cannot run inside the forest. It would alert the bear and the forest is dense. It’s not good for running around.
I have seen some bear claw marks near the waterfall where I trained. So I decide to go there first. They probably live upstream.
I carefully go upstream and Voilà!
I found a cave where a bear could live. It's wonderful. I mean my luck.
I found a cave as soon as I came here. Now, let's find a bear.
I won't fight it inside. It's cramped. So, I won't be able to avoid it.
I enter the dark cave and find a bear. It's sleeping and from the looks of it, it just went to sleep.
Now that's a chance. Bears get really angry when they can't sleep.
I just have to pester it and it'll come charging at me.
Maybe, I have a death wish. That's why Hazel didn't come with me.
But man, do I feel excited? Yes, I do!!!!
I wake the bear up. By constantly poking it on its nose.
It doesn’t hurt as much as it annoys you. The bear woke up to a start and saw me.
Then it growled. And I start running. I said I won't fight it inside the cave.
So let's run to the outside where the it's spacious.
I stop and look back. The bear is charging at me.
I brace myself for impact. A bear can weigh up to 500 kilograms. And it's damn fast.
Normally it would feel like being run over by a car. But I have trained heavily.
Now it's time to catch the bear. I duck and kick its leg. It's normally foolish to try and avoid a bear. They are faster than humans and are more agile than they look.
The claw went past me. It was fast and indiscriminate. If I was an inch closer, my right eye was a goner. I aimed for its knees and kicked inwards. The bear staggered and fell due to its own momentum.
Before it could get up, I get on its back.
I try to choke it by putting it in a sleeper hold. But its neck is thick. It threw me off of its back.
Now, we are facing each other. Until now the bear was looking at me like a prey. But, now it's serious.
I look at its eye. It says that it will kill me.
I even got goosebumps. This is serious. My heart is beating faster. Like a drum, I can feel the beats.
And I feel my adrenaline rushing to every part of my body.
I charge at the bear. It also started running. Like an epic showdown, we start our fight.
The bear tried to tackle me. I couldn’t get away in time. It rammed me into a tree and tried to bite my neck. I thought I was a goner for a second.
I calmed down and poked its eyes. The claws were already lodged in my chest. The poke to the eye did wonders. It swiped my chest with the claws which left deep gouges.
I am bleeding. Normally I should have died by now. The toughness has indeed increased. I capitalize the moment. I charge at the bear and punch its throat.
The bear started flailing frantically. It became harder to approach it. I reach for my pocket to get the knife. I have a knife which should be long enough to go through the skin.
Rushing at the bear, I aimed at its stomach. It went through but the bear got me with its legs. Somehow managed to avoid the major veins but the bear is trying to run away.
I don’t have much gas left in the tank either. My bleeding is getting worse so I decided to finish it. I ran towards it and lifted the bear off the ground and slammed it on the floor.
It was hard as I had to stop the bear, wrestle it off the ground and slam it over my head.
I tried to imitate a wrestling move but I made it sure to put its head down first.
I could hear the bones shattering and I let go of it. The knife is firmly lodged in its stomach. Some of the intestines have been pushed out due to the impact.
I can see its lifeless body. I have killed it. I myself am on the verge of death due to sheer blood loss but the bear is dead.
I have taken another life. It isn't right and I don't enjoy it. I will not claim to be innocent as I know full well I had no business killing a bear.
But I had to do it. Now, let's pray. Every living being has a soul. So let's pray for it and go home so I don’t die in the process.
