SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!
Chapter 271: Returning to the First LayerAs this realization struck him, the shock in Zich’s eyes gradually transformed into burning excitement.
However, just as he attempted to push his consciousness deeper, nine silver seals lit up simultaneously, completely locking away the vast world of memories that seemed to stretch endlessly before him.
The smile on Zich’s face immediately stiffened, replaced by a frown.
"Why is it sealed?"
"Because some knowledge is enough to destroy your current self merely by being understood," Razeil said. "As your level, spirit, and soul strength increase, the inheritance will gradually open one layer at a time."
Zich closed his eyes for a moment, sensing the enormous world of memories hidden behind the nine silver seals.
"How do I use it?"
"You don’t."
Zich opened his eyes. "What?"
"The inheritance will open gradually as you grow stronger. When you encounter something you are capable of understanding, the relevant memories and insights will naturally become accessible to you."
Zich’s eyes immediately brightened. "So if I encounter an enemy or a power I’ve never seen before, I might find something useful in your memories?"
"If I encountered something similar before, perhaps."
"Then wouldn’t that mean I basically have several hundred years of experience following me around?"
Razeil glanced at him.
"My experience, not yours."
She paused briefly before continuing.
"You may learn from the path I walked and avoid some of the mistakes I made, but whether you can turn that knowledge into your own strength depends entirely on you."
Zich slowly nodded. He lowered his head and sensed the silver seed within the depths of his consciousness. Then he suddenly smiled.
"You are giving me something this important. Aren’t you afraid that I might surpass you one day?"
"If I cannot even accept my own disciple surpassing me, then I am not qualified to be your teacher."
Razeil turned around, and a spatial passage slowly opened.
"Go back for now."
"Is the training over already?"
In the last 30 days, Zich had wished to return home because of how severe the training had been on some days. However, it was his sheer will that had kept him going.
During this time, he had also bonded with Razeil quite a lot.
It was the longest time he had spent with someone who was not one of his parents. Therefore, a part of him did not want to leave.
"Of course it is not."
"Then why are you suddenly letting me go back?"
Razeil stepped into the spatial passage. Her voice emerged from within the silver white light.
"Because I have taught you everything you need to know for now." She paused, and then continued in a lower tone. "Besides, there’s something in the Fourth Sequence that I have to handle."
When Razeil said this, there was clearly a brief solemnity in her tone, which made Zich realize that whatever she wanted to attend to must be really important.
"All right then. I understand." He nodded.
Then he asked, "When are we seeing each other again?"
"When you complete your ascension requirements to the Second Layer."
"You knew? I didn’t even say a word about it."
"I could sense from your aura that you have reached Level 29. Just one more level and your Ascension Quest should appear before you," she said. "When you ascend, we’ll meet again, and this time, I’ll show you a glimpse of what the Fourth Sequence looks like."
"All right, Master. I’ll be looking forward to that," Zich said.
He turned toward the spatial passage, but just before stepping inside, his footsteps paused for a brief moment. He glanced back at Razeil, as though he wanted to say something else, but in the end, he merely smiled.
"Just focus on digesting the contents of the Inheritance Seed. There is no point in remaining here." Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and added, "Also Someone outside has been waiting for you for a long time."
"How long have they been waiting?"
"Thirty days."
’Who could be waiting for me that long?’
Because he had informed his friends Helen, Mira, and...Jayden about his training with Razeil, he didn’t think it was any of them.
’Well, no use guessing.’
Without wasting any more time, he stepped through the passage.
Feeling the familiar nauseous sensation that came with teleportation, he appeared inside the teleportation formation room in Central City.
With a quick glance, he discovered that Razeil hadn’t appeared with him. She had kept true to her words and left for the issues she needed to handle in the Fourth Sequence.
After appearing in the First Layer, the first thing Zich did was ask the staff for a bathroom.
There, he took the longest bath of his life. When he was done, he changed into fresh clothes and exited the building.
It didn’t take long for him to arrive at the First Shelter after using the teleportation.
After using the formation twice in such a short time, his face had gotten pale. The others inside the formation naturally noticed him. Some of them flinched upon seeing him.
Although he had only been gone for a month, Zich’s fame hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
"Kid, you really know how to steal the spotlight."
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the side. Looking toward the source of the voice, Zich saw Cole standing there with a welcoming smile on his face.
The latter was leaning against the wall. It was quite easy to tell that he had been standing there for a while now. Maybe Razeil had informed him ahead of time.
"Were you waiting for me?"
"Yes, the President told me to do so."
The President? Arthur Magnus? Zich narrowed his eyes, wondering why the President would suddenly be looking for him out of the blue, especially since he knew about Zich’s training.
Immediately, several scenarios began to play in his head. The first thought that came to his mind was that something terrible had happened.
"Nothing bad has happened," Cole spoke up, seeing his expression. "At least not yet."
"At least not yet?"
"Yes." Cole nodded. "I’m here to protect you."
"From who?"
"Hello, Zich."
Another voice, which Zich had only heard a handful of times, came from the side.
"We meet again."
