There was another detail that caught Alex’s eye. Alex had previously assumed that the Wild Orcs could sustain themselves entirely through Origin Energy, which explained why they had not needed to eat the humans they encountered. Now, however, it seemed they were not avoiding eating humans because they did not need them. They were avoiding eating them because they needed them for something else.
’It must be related to the blue cross on the map,’ Alex theorized as he finished forming Fire Bullet in his hand.
He pushed his Advanced Battle Instinct Spell to high intensity, carefully watching the movements of the Wild Orc at the front. He waited until the monster’s weight shifted forward, and the moment he recognized the opening, Alex fired the Fire Bullet without hesitation.
The Fire Bullet tore through the air and crossed the distance in a split second before punching straight through the Wild Orc’s head. The monster had already shifted its weight forward, so its enormous body fell toward the road instead of backward onto the survivors, causing the ground to shake when it landed.
The Wild Orc behind it stiffened as it realized what had happened. It quickly turned around and noticed Alex, Roan, Tina, and Ophelia standing farther down the road.
The monster let out a furious roar before charging toward them.

Roan’s body stiffened the moment the Wild Orc released its Origin Energy and entered combat mode. Even now, the sensation was disgusting, making his stomach twist as the oppressive energy spread through the surroundings. The monster reached Tina and Ophelia who were farther ahead. It raised its enormous foot, and Roan instinctively prepared himself for the impact.
To his shock, Tina and Ophelia could still move. They immediately dashed to opposite sides, narrowly avoiding the giant foot as it came down and shook the road beneath them. Alex had already confirmed that he, Tina, and Ophelia could move through the monster’s Origin Energy, but seeing it happen was still difficult for Roan to believe.
Roan forced himself to stop thinking about it because he needed to help. Alex had asked him to let Tina and Ophelia fight, but they were still in considerable danger, and Roan could not simply stand there if one of them was about to be killed.
His mind suddenly returned to everything that had happened over the past few hours. He remembered Sarah’s corpse, then his father, his mother, and everyone else he had lost, with each memory making his chest tighten further until the sadness became almost unbearable.
Then anger began to rise through his body. His skin became hot, his eyes started to sting, and his hands clenched tightly as he struggled to hold himself together. He wanted to cry because he had lost everything, but more than sorrow, he felt anger toward the monsters that had taken it all away.
For some unknown reason, Roan could move under the Wild Orcs’ Origin Energy when he experienced intense emotions. Alex had explained that Aura could be used to resist the Origin Energy, but Roan could not use that method because he barely had any Aura, and he had not increased that stat at all.
So he had to rely on his own method.
’I’m sorry, Sarah. Mom. Dad. I’m sorry for using you like this.’
Roan apologized to them in his heart as he used the memories of their final moments to strengthen his emotions. He knew it was wrong to use their deaths as fuel for his anger, but if that anger gave him the strength to protect someone else, then he would accept the guilt that came with it.
He dashed forward, and the asphalt cracked beneath his feet as his body accelerated. His figure blurred for a moment before his fist slammed into the Wild Orc’s leg, carrying enough force to make the enormous monster stagger. Roan wanted to continue attacking until it died, but after seeing that Tina and Ophelia were not completely helpless, he decided to watch for a moment.
The more he watched, the more shocked he became. Truthfully, Tina and Ophelia were only alive because Alex kept firing weak Mana Bullets to draw the monster’s attention whenever it was about to land a fatal attack. Even so, the fact that the two women could fight against such a monster was astounding.
As far as Roan knew, only he could fight these monsters.
’No, there is also Alex,’ Roan thought.
He remembered the Fire Bullet Alex had used in the beginning. It had flown through the air like a sniper round and instantly killed the Wild Orc, and the ease with which Alex had done it made Roan almost question whether these were the same monsters that had been terrorizing everyone.
Tina and Ophelia struggled for several minutes, as if waiting for something.
The Wild Orc suddenly stomped down again. Tina quickly moved behind Ophelia, who raised her shield and blocked the shockwave, allowing Tina to move safely before rushing toward the monster’s back leg.
Tina moved like a fish in water as she reached the monster’s ankle. She did not let its enormous size intimidate her, even though it stood as tall as a four-story building, and she punched its ankle muscles three times in quick succession. The Wild Orc stumbled from the attack.
That was the moment Ophelia acted. She tightened the grip on the metal rebar she held before throwing it toward the monster, and although Roan could tell she had been aiming for its eye, her aim was slightly off and the rebar struck its forehead instead.
Tina immediately attacked the monster’s second leg. With both legs muscles’ out of control for a few seconds, the Wild Orc finally lost its balance and fell forward, its chin crashing into the ground with enough force to shake the road.
Ophelia dashed forward while the monster was still struggling. She smashed the rebar with her shield, driving it farther inward until it pierced through the monster’s skull and destroyed its brain. The Wild Orc stopped moving almost immediately.
Roan did not look at the notification that appeared after the kill. He only saw the dead monster lying on the road and the three people who had managed to bring it down. His mouth opened slightly as he stared at them, and his expression slowly changed as another thought entered his mind.
