"No, that’s too risky. Even if this ’group controller’ is easy to handle, there is still the leader Wild Orc. There might also be several stronger-than-average Wild Orcs inside the defense line. Can a small group really fight against them if they run into something like that?" Robert countered.
The group began debating the plan. Tina argued that every option was already dangerous and that they could either take the risk or sit around doing nothing, while Robert kept insisting that they needed to think about the safety of everyone involved.
Finally, Alex spoke up. "If we were worried about safety above everything else, then we wouldn’t be fighting these monsters in the first place. We could hide here and wait, but that wouldn’t help the people who were kidnapped."
Robert fell silent, while Tina gave Alex a small triumphant smile.
Alex continued before she could respond. "However, I agree with Robert that taking a group inside the defense line is too dangerous. Only Roan and I will go, assuming Roan agrees to it."
"No," Robert immediately said.
"No, that’s not happening," Tina added at nearly the same time.
Alex shook his head. "You two seem to be misunderstanding something. Luring the Wild Orcs away is more dangerous than going inside the defense line. Roan and I are fast enough to retreat if something dangerous happens, and we can avoid fighting whenever possible. You people will be the ones in greater danger because you’ll have to keep the Wild Orcs occupied while we move through the opening."
"The Wild Orcs are faster than you. Even if you can move quickly, they might still catch you before you reach somewhere safe," Tina said with a frown.
"Not if I go through the alleys. The monsters are too large to enter most of them, and if they try to destroy the buildings to chase me, it will give me enough time to get far away and hide," Alex replied.
That made the group fall silent. They had already seen how quickly the Wild Orcs could move, but Alex’s explanation made sense, and none of them could immediately think of a better option.
Alex turned toward Roan, who had been listening quietly.
Roan nodded without hesitation and said, "I will come with you."
The group still seemed hesitant, but Alex was not going to let them deter him. They also seemed to understand why he was willing to take such a big risk, especially after learning that he was doing it to find his sister, so they were not too adamant about stopping him.
Alex knew this was still an enormous risk. He was planning to enter the Wild Orcs’ territory with only Roan beside him, even though they had no clear idea how strong the monsters inside were or what had sensed Roan when he approached the area earlier.
There was another problem that Alex could not ignore. Without him, if something happened to his team while he was away, they might not be able to survive, especially if several Wild Orcs managed to catch them. However, there was no guarantee that waiting would make the situation safer. The leader Wild Orc was doing something, and whatever it was, it was definitely bad for the humans.
The group started preparing for the operation. It would have been better if they had more people who could lure the Wild Orcs away, since a larger distraction would give Alex and Roan more room to move, but Roan’s team could not fight at that level.
Roan had been fighting alone to protect them, which meant the others had remained relatively weak. They could help with the survivors and defend themselves against weaker monsters, but asking them to fight Wild Orcs as part of the distraction would be little different from asking them to throw away their lives.
Alex did not blame them. It would have been better if everyone in the group could fight at least on some level, but he was not going to blame other people for not being strong enough to help him. If he wanted to enter the Wild Orcs’ territory, then he would have to handle the dangerous parts himself.
He looked around at his group one last time, making sure everyone understood what they were supposed to do. They had already discussed the plan several times, so there was no point in repeating every detail when they were about to begin.
"Alright. I’ll say this one last time. Be smart, be quick, and stay calm. If something goes wrong, just run, and save your life. Don’t try to play the hero," he said.
The group nodded, although several of them still looked uneasy. They all understood that the next few minutes would decide whether Alex and Roan could get inside the defense line safely.
Alex gave them one final look before saying, "Now, let’s move."
The group separated almost immediately. Their first task was to draw the Wild Orcs away from the area where Alex and Roan intended to enter, and the larger the distraction became, the more freedom they would have. However, none of them could afford to get careless because even a single Wild Orc catching them would put the entire operation at risk.

Rae was already waiting on the thirtieth floor of a tall office building. The elevators were not working, so Ophelia had been forced to climb all the way up the stairs while carrying Rae. Rae’s wheelchair had been left outside because bringing it up and taking it down the building later would have taken too much time and effort.
The elderly woman lay on the floor near the broken glass wall, her sniper rifle positioned in front of her. From that height, she could see three Wild Orcs moving through the ruined streets below, each of them roughly four floors tall, with two or three streets separating them from one another. Rae calmly checked the rifle and loaded the ammunition before settling into position.
Ophelia remained beside her without saying anything. She was aware that Rae had to concentrate, especially because this position gave them a major advantage but also made their location obvious the moment the sniper was fired. The height allowed Rae to watch several Wild Orcs at once, but they would have to escape quickly after attacking them.
