Alex was about to fire the three Fire Bullets at the remaining monsters when the Origin Energy slamming into him suddenly increased. His expression changed as he felt something go wrong with the mana inside his spells, and the Fire Bullets rapidly began to lose their Will.

The hardened mana casing suddenly dissolved. Alex immediately understood what was about to happen because the flames inside the bullets were no longer being contained properly.

They were going to explode.

Alex swiftly jumped away as the three Fire Bullets detonated. Without the hardened mana holding the flames together, their energy scattered violently, and the resulting shockwaves slammed into Alex from behind.

He managed to land on the rooftop of a nearby building, but the impact sent him rolling across the surface until his body struck a wall. His bones creaked from the force, and pain spread through his body before he could even recover.

There was not even a moment to rest before a Wild Orc punched through the building toward him, tearing apart the structure as if it were nothing. Alex gritted his teeth, poured more mana into his head to suppress the pain, and swiftly jumped away from the collapsing building.

He was falling through what looked like five floors, and he had no idea how he could stop his fall. Then he remembered one possibility and rapidly began creating a Kinetic Element Rune, hoping to use it to absorb the kinetic energy from his fall and allow him to land safely.

Before he could complete it, a flying car slammed into him.

Alex’s consciousness went blank for a split second. When he came to, he was inside another building with the car lying on top of him, while several pieces of rebar had pierced through his leg and abdomen.

He could feel that almost all of his major bones were broken. He coughed, then puked blood onto the ground as the pain became almost unbearable.

A roar suddenly erupted nearby. Alex knew a Wild Orc was rushing toward him, so he immediately increased the output of the Advanced Battle Instinct Spell, and his mind gradually calmed as the pain was pushed into the background.

He used mana to push the rebars out, then used hardened mana to clot the injuries, and perform emergency treatment on his body. The mana supported his broken bones and damaged organs, but when he tried to push the car away, his arms barely moved because his body had become too weak.

The building began to fall around him, and the car slid away as the floor tilted beneath it. Before he also fell, Alex noticed the building in front of him and realized that the car had carried him clean through one building before crushing him inside another.

’On the bright side, at least the car didn’t explode. That would have been worse,’ Alex thought, trying to find a little humor in the situation despite everything that had happened.

Through the falling building, he saw a hulking figure roaring toward him as its hand rapidly reached out, while the concrete beneath Alex cracked and he began to slide down.

Alex raised his wand and fired a Fire Bullet. It punched cleanly through the Wild Orc’s head, stopping its roar immediately as the light disappeared from its eyes.

Alex did not wait to see the monster fall. He jumped before the ground beneath him collapsed and used the openings in the broken building to rapidly make his way down, carefully avoiding the rubble that was falling around him. His speed and power had fallen dangerously low. With so many bones and organs being supported by mana, he no longer had enough concentration to maintain the Advanced Battle Instinct Spell at full power.

"Found the caster’s location!" Roan’s shout echoed through the ruined streets.

Alex landed on the ground at that moment, killing another approaching Wild Orc with Fire Bullet. He looked ahead and saw one Wild Orc standing directly in his path with a giant iron club in its hand, while another Wild Orc was rushing toward Roan’s location.

Alex observed the giant Wild Orc standing in his path. This one was clearly not a simple monster, especially with the enormous metallic club in its hand, a weapon that was almost as large as its six-floor body. It was likely an elite, sent to deal with Alex after the other monsters realized how dangerous he was.

Alex quickly scanned his own body. His condition was the worst it had been since the fight started, with several broken bones and damaged organs being held together by hardened mana, yet for some reason, the corners of his lips curled upward. His heart was beating loudly.

"On my way!" Alex shouted before dashing forward.

The Wild Orc raised its giant metallic club and swung it down. A massive shadow covered the road as the weapon descended, and despite its size, the speed behind the attack was tremendous. At the last moment, Alex flooded his neurons with Lightning Element mana and increased his speed, causing the club to miss him by several meters.

The impact still sent a shockwave through the road and threw Alex forward. He rapidly rolled across the concrete, then jumped toward the Wild Orc’s feet before the monster could properly notice where he had gone.

Alex cut off his roll and swung his Mana Sword while running past the monster’s leg. The blade created a deep cut along the side of the Wild Orc’s sole, making it hiss and look down.

Alex fired three Fire Bullets toward its head as it looked down. The monster displayed astonishing speed as it tilted its head backward and almost avoided the attacks, but Alex only smiled when he saw the movement.

He had an idea.

When the caster had pulled the Will out of his Fire Bullets earlier, Alex had noticed that their hardened mana casing dissolved once the Will disappeared. The caster had caused the bullets to explode because they could no longer maintain their shape, and Alex decided to use that weakness against the monsters.

This time, Alex deliberately pulled his Will back from the Fire Bullets. The distance was too great for the Will to completely return to him, and most of it dissipated before reaching his body, but that didn’t matter.

The casings around the three Fire Bullets dissolved, and the flames immediately exploded in front of the Wild Orc’s face. The monster roared and clutched at its burning face, giving Alex the opening he needed.

He fired another Fire Bullet through its head. The attack punched cleanly through the skull, ending the Wild Orc’s life before it could recover.
