Around the same time, Roan finished his fight. The Wild Orc’s enormous body fell to the ground, and Roan stood over it while wheezing heavily, his body clearly struggling to keep going.

Alex reached into his inventory and took out the remaining Energy Bar. He quickly ate half of it, and warmth spread through his body as some of his lost stamina began to return before he threw the remaining half toward Roan.

Roan must have sensed it through his own senses because he reached out and caught it without looking.

"It is a stamina refill," Alex said, and Roan nodded before starting to chew it.

Both of them looked toward the collapsing building. For a brief moment, neither of them said anything, because the approaching Wild Orcs seemed almost unimportant while they waited to see whether the caster would appear.

Then they saw it.

A Wild Orc emerged from the falling building, but this one was completely different from the monsters they had fought so far. It was only as tall as an adult human, carried a staff that was roughly the same height as its body, and wore garments that resembled a robe.

More importantly, it was flying. A giant sphere of golden light surrounded the small Wild Orc and protected it from the falling rubble as it floated calmly in the air while the remains of the building collapsed around it.

Alex saw the monster’s eyes. He could not prove it, but he had the strange feeling that the monster was looking at him and Roan as though they were nothing more than insects. It did not appear angry or rushed, and that calmness made it more dangerous than the larger Wild Orcs they had already fought.

"Do you have a plan?" Roan asked.

"We will kill this thing before more Wild Orcs arrive," Alex replied.

Roan nodded grimly. He must have known that even if they could kill the ordinary Wild Orcs, their injuries had already pushed them close to their limits. Unless the caster died, the chances of surviving another battle were low.

"Go around it and wait for an opening," Alex said. He immediately ran back toward the alley while Roan moved in the opposite direction.

The caster Wild Orc simply watched them. It did not chase Alex or attack Roan, and it seemed to be doing nothing except absorbing their Will from a distance.

It was clearly a support-type monster, but its ability made it far more dangerous than ten ordinary Wild Orcs fighting together. If they allowed it to remain alive, the number of enemies would eventually become impossible for them to handle.

Alex reached the alley just as the new wave of Wild Orcs approached their location. The narrow passage would give him some extra time because the monsters could not reach him all at once, and they would have to destroy parts of the alley before they could get through.

He quickly picked up a long piece of iron rebar and checked its length. While doing so, he finished forming another powerful Fire Bullet using five Fire Mana Cables and immediately fired it toward the flying caster.

The bullet reached the Wild Orc in a split second. Before it could hit, however, the casing dissolved as all of its Will was absorbed by the caster, and the flames trapped inside exploded.

A giant explosion engulfed the golden sphere. When the smoke and flames cleared, cracks covered the shield, but Alex’s expression did not improve because the cracks were already beginning to mend.

One Wild Orc reached the back entrance of the alley and began destroying the structure to reach Alex. Another was approaching from the side, tearing through the surrounding buildings as it tried to get closer.

Alex sensed both through his Mana Sense, but he continued watching the caster and its rapidly repairing shield. He tightened his grip around the iron rebar as he considered his remaining options.

’I can destroy that shield with two more of my strongest Fire Bullets, but creating each one takes time. I can make only one more before these Wild Orcs reach me, and after that, there will be no time left to kill the caster while fighting them,’ he thought.

Alex looked at the approaching monsters and then back at the floating caster. He had finally found the enemy they needed to kill, but now he had to find a way to reach it before the remaining time disappeared.

Alex made his decision. He started layering hardened mana around the iron rebar, shaping it into something resembling a javelin. A Mana Sword would have been hard to create at that size, but with the iron rebar serving as the core, he could create something much longer without the construct collapsing.

He deliberately left a hollow space just beneath the iron core. Into that chamber, he poured highly compressed Lightning Element mana until blue sparks began dancing across the surface of the construct. Even after crossing the point where the mana became unstable, he kept compressing it and forcing more inside.

Once the chamber was full, Alex created a thick wall of compressed mana to seal the lightning inside. He poured extra Will into that container, reinforcing it as much as possible because he knew the casing had to survive long enough to reach the caster.

Below that chamber, he created another hollow section that opened at the back end of the javelin. He filled it with tightly packed Fire Mana Cables, stuffing more and more Fire Element mana into the opening until the entire rear section felt ready to burst.

The approaching Wild Orcs were already reaching the alley. Through Mana Sense, Alex could feel concrete breaking as they tore through buildings to reach him, but he ignored them completely and poured more mana into his brain, sharpening his concentration until the world around him faded.

Everything disappeared except the javelin in his hand and the caster floating above the ruined street. Alex finally pulled his arm back and threw.

The Advanced Battle Instinct Spell strengthened every muscle in his body, and despite his battered condition, the throw exploded with tremendous force. The javelin shot out of the alley in a split second, flying straight toward the golden sphere protecting the caster.

The moment it left Alex’s control, the Fire Mana packed inside the rear chamber lost its stability. The chamber burst open, flames erupted backward through the opening, and the violent release acted like a crude propulsion system that pushed the javelin even faster.

The caster’s Origin Energy immediately crashed into it. Alex could feel the familiar pressure trying to absorb the Will holding the construct together, but this time the attack did not instantly dismantle it because the iron rebar carried most of the structure.

The javelin slammed into the golden shield. The hardened mana around the weapon shattered first, followed immediately by a violent explosion that spread across the shield’s surface, and even through the blast, Alex could still sense the mana because it had been his.

Cracks raced across the entire golden sphere. The final explosion threw the iron rebar forward with even greater force, driving it halfway through where the shield had been.

Alex could not clearly see the caster’s expression through the flames, but he was certain the monster had felt relief for a fraction of a second as the iron rebar was stopped. That relief did not last.

The sealed lightning chamber finally shattered. The compressed Lightning Element mana exploded outward, wrapping itself around the iron rebar before surging inside the broken shield and directly into the caster’s body.
