SSS Awakening: I am the First Legendary Mage
Chapter 194: Strange Observation"You’re saying we should join Alex’s faction?" Noah asked, a slight frown appearing on his face.
"Yes," Roan replied with a nod. Noah clearly wanted to reject the idea, but Roan seemed determined to follow his own judgment.
Roan looked at Alex before turning back toward Noah. "I understand why you think the military is safer, but you didn’t see Alex fight. I did, and after seeing what happened today, I think we should trust him."
Noah pressed his lips together and remained silent.
Alex watched them for a moment before speaking. "Alright, Roan. Go talk with your faction members and give me an answer in five minutes. I’m sorry, but I don’t have much time, so if you take too long or decide to refuse, I’ll simply absorb another faction. There are many factions here already. I don’t have to wait for one group if you can’t make a decision."
Roan nodded. He knew Alex was right, because among the hundreds of people who had been captured inside the high school and later rescued, many had already formed their own factions.
Roan and Noah left the meeting room to speak with the others, leaving Alex alone inside.
Alex let out a quiet groan as he stopped the Superior Body Reinforcement Spell. Without the spell supporting his body, he immediately fell back into the chair and tried to relax. His body started recovering again.
As he closed his eyes, two thoughts immediately came to mind.
’Xithali said we need to return to our Difficulties quickly.’
’That means something big is going to happen, and I’ve already been thinking that Hell Difficulty hasn’t revealed its true danger yet. Maybe the actual Hell Difficulty will start now.’
’It must be why Xithali specifically mentioned Hell Difficulty Ascendants returning.’
If something dangerous happened inside Hell Difficulty, his second body could potentially die. Alex still did not know what would happen to his first body if that occurred, and he didn’t intend to find out by allowing one of his bodies to die.
’But can I even trust Xithali? What if he lied to me?’
Alex opened his eyes again as he considered the possibility. Xithali had given them useful information before, but that did not mean everything he said had to be true, and Alex had no way of knowing whether there was something else behind his warning.
’Should I just go for a few minutes and check?’
Alex had more than enough Origin Energy to make a round trip. If he went there and returned quickly, he might be able to confirm whether anything unusual was happening without putting himself in too much danger.
There were still too many unknowns, however, and Alex did not want to make a reckless decision.
He took out his smartphone and opened Dwitter. The previous trending topics were still visible, including [Relativity of Ranks], [Beast Monarchs], and [Time Dilation], but two new topics had appeared among them.
[Assessments]
[Origin Energy Seepage]
Alex ignored the trending topics for now and searched for information about Hell Difficulty. As expected, there was an overwhelming amount of information, but most of it was either contradictory or clearly made up.
Alex could not determine which information was reliable, so he eventually stopped reading the random posts.
For the other Difficulties, there were many survivors who had already returned to Earth. They were sharing information about monsters, environments, dungeons, rewards, and other rules they had discovered, allowing people who had yet to enter those Difficulties to prepare themselves.
Hell Difficulty was different.
There were not many actual Hell Difficulty Ascendants who had returned, which made it difficult to determine what was true and what was not. The lack of reliable information also gave trolls plenty of opportunities to spread nonsense, because there were very few people who could contradict them.
Alex understood why. Hell Difficulty was simply too difficult. Many people who had entered it might not have returned yet.
Alex also wondered how many people were still alive inside it, because Xithali had not shown them the numbers after they automatically failed the Assessment.
He shook his head and looked at his screen again. There was no point thinking about numbers he had no way of confirming, especially when the information available on Dwitter was already difficult to trust.
The only useful information Alex could find about Hell Difficulty was that night had arrived. He then searched for information about what would happen if one of an Ascendant’s two bodies died.
Some posts claimed that death inside a Difficulty would have no effect on the body left on Earth, while others claimed the opposite, but none of them had enough evidence to convince Alex.
Alex shook his head while scrolling through the posts. He could not tell whether people were becoming hysterical because of everything happening around them and making stupid comments, or whether the trolls were simply idiots who thought this was a good time to cause confusion.
At that moment, he noticed a new post.
[Greetings everyone, I’m Andrew Thomas Bennett, Speaker of the House of the United States. We are creating a forum page for information regarding the current events. We will be collecting information from the current Fore-runners and posting it after verification. It is to...]
Alex gave the post a quick read before scrolling down. Basically, Dwitter had too much fake and useless information, so the United States government, or perhaps the Speaker of the House alone, was creating a separate forum where information would be collected and posted only after being verified.
This would give people a place where they could find information they could trust instead of relying on random posts. It was a simple idea, but considering the current situation, it could become quite useful.
’Weird. Why are they making a forum? The internet will eventually go down, whether because of the monsters or the frequent earthquakes,’ Alex thought.
