Alex thought about it for a moment before letting the thought go. It did not matter much right now, so he focused instead on why the Speaker of the House had made such a post.
It was obviously meant to help maintain some degree of stability, but there was another benefit that Alex found more interesting. By creating a place where information from powerful Ascendants could be gathered, the government could also establish connections with those people and gradually build a network around them.
People were gaining powers now, and the world was changing too quickly for governments to simply continue operating as they had before. Xithali had already proven that a single powerful individual could suppress an entire world, so it was only natural that governments would begin trying to find powerful Ascendants and establish relationships with them before those people became too powerful to control.
Alex did not particularly care what the government was doing, but the thought made him consider something else.
’Connections and information about other Ascendants is important.’
Several Tutorial Quests had already been related to factions, which suggested that groups and communities would play an important role in the future. Even if factions did not become as important as he expected, Alex knew one thing for certain: he could not be everywhere at once.
’I need powerful Ascendants in my faction who can deal with monsters when I’m not around.’
For now, Alex could only invite Ascendants around him, but there was no reason he could not start laying a foundation for something larger. He did not need to build everything immediately, but having capable people in his faction would become increasingly important as the world grew more dangerous.
He was not going to search the internet and personally contact random Ascendants, but he needed to do something that would make his name known. If powerful people began recognizing him, establishing connections with them later would become much easier.
Alex hesitated for a moment. He had never been a particularly social person. He had not even posted a single picture of himself on Dwitter or his other social media accounts, so deliberately making himself known to thousands or even millions of people like this were far outside his usual behavior.
Still, Alex rationalized that the situation had changed. If becoming known could help him build connections, strengthen his faction, and eventually obtain better resources, then there was no reason to avoid it simply because he was uncomfortable with the idea. He had done this once already anyway.
He took a deep breath and started typing.

Alex posted the entry and immediately created a new section on his profile, naming it <Alex’s Archive>. He was not too worried about sharing the information because most of it was simple knowledge that Ascendants would eventually discover through basic experiments and observation.
The only information that might take some time to discover was the existence of the Soul Gates. Even then, Alex did not consider it particularly valuable since it was something people would eventually discover themselves, so he decided it was safe enough to share.
There was a reason why he used his own name for the archive and daily entries. He wanted people to associate the information with Alex Mercer, so that his name would gradually become familiar to Ascendants.
As his name spread, more Ascendants would eventually recognize him, making it easier to establish connections with powerful people, and it would also help him sell his spells online more quickly in exchange for more powerful items.
Just as Alex had expected, comments started appearing under his post almost immediately. The information had caught people’s attention, especially because it was coming from someone who was already semi-famous.

[What the hell? How do you know about the spell slot limit for Mages? Alex, be real. Did you get that information from a Guide, or do you already have ten spells?]
[Isn’t this guy a Mage? Why does he know how Faith works when a Priest like me doesn’t?]
[Do we have the same Mage Class? I couldn’t learn even one spell. How come someone already has ten?]
Alex smiled faintly as he read the comments. Some people were genuinely curious, while others were already assuming he was hiding something, but that reaction was exactly what he had expected.

Daniel was looking through Dwitter when he came across Alex’s post. His eyes immediately lit up when he recognized the name because Alex had already become somewhat famous after saving the people trapped inside Patrick High School, and Daniel believed that information posted by him was likely to be reliable.
Daniel had never been someone who used Dwitter much before the Integration. Now, however, it had become one of the easiest ways to learn what was happening in different parts of the world, so he found himself checking it more often than he expected.
"What the hell are you smiling about?" Samuel muttered.
Daniel turned his head and saw Samuel sweating heavily while kneeling on the road with his arms spread out. A giant blue cross stood nearby, connected to another world through a crack in space, and Samuel was using his ability to keep the unstable passage stable.
