The meeting with a powerful Mage was certainly valuable, but there were simply too many uncertainties surrounding it, and Alex didn’t think the potential benefits were worth the risks right now.

That said, despite all those risks, the option was still excellent, and if Alex didn’t have the Spell Evolution Talent, and if Spell Slots weren’t so important to him, he might have chosen it after some hesitation.

However, Alex had already made his decision, so he selected the second option. A faint smile appeared on his face as the notification changed.

[Spell Slot (+2)]

This was the best choice for him. Just as Alex finished making his choice, another notification appeared in front of him.

[Hidden Quest completed: Be the first person from Hell Difficulty to complete a Class Evolution with Additional Class Requirements.]

[Gold Reward Box gained.]

Alex didn’t open the Reward Box. He planned to open all of his Reward Boxes after returning to Hell Difficulty because, if he obtained something valuable, he would have to use Origin Energy to bring it there.

According to Xithali, something dangerous might happen in Hell Difficulty, so Alex definitely wanted to take any useful rewards with him as reassurance. However, there was no reason to waste Origin Energy by transporting items if the situation in Hell Difficulty turned out to be okay, especially when he could simply open the boxes after returning.

He decided that waiting was the better choice.

Before Alex could think about anything else, another series of notifications appeared. This time, however, the messages surprised him.

[Strength: 7 → 8]

[Agility: 6 → 7]

[Constitution: 5 → 6]

Alex stared at the notifications for a moment because he hadn’t expected his physical stats to increase suddenly. After thinking about it, however, he quickly realized what had happened.

His body had been through an enormous amount of abuse. He had repeatedly pushed himself beyond his limits, suffered serious injuries, been healed, and then continued fighting, so his body had probably already reached the point where it could become stronger if it received enough nutrients.

Previously, Alex had thought that his body simply lacked the nutrients necessary to fill out his muscles and allow his physical stats to increase. Now that he had leveled up, the System had apparently provided what his body needed, and his body finally absorbed everything.

’So leveling up gives me nutrients as well. That makes sense,’ he thought.

Alex then remembered how much blood he had lost during his battles in Hell Difficulty. If the System didn’t restore things like blood whenever he leveled up, he would probably have become severely anemic long ago.

’So the System will regenerate or provide small things when I level up, but bigger things like dismembered limbs won’t be restored,’ he concluded.

That seemed to be the limit of what the System considered part of normal recovery.

With his increased physical stats, the additional Stat Points from reaching Adept Rank, and the increased number of free Stat Points he received with every level, Alex had become considerably stronger. More importantly, he would continue growing faster as long as he kept leveling up, since every level in Adept Rank now gave him four Stat Points instead of two.

Alex brought up his Status Screen to see exactly how much he had changed.

[Alex Mercer]

[Species: Human, Level 9 (Low Rank)]

[Rank: Adept, Level 16]

[Class: Runesmith]

[Spells: Fire-Mana Weaving Spell, Superior Body Reinforcement Spell, Elastic Trap Spell, Soul Reinforcement Spell, Lightning Reflex Spell, Mana Blade Spell, Blood Vitalization Spell, Advanced Battle Instinct Spell, Mana Sense Spell, Mana Circuit Spell, Minor Heal Spell, Minor Tumor Growth Spell]

[Stats: Strength (8), Agility (7), Constitution (6), Mana (51), Mind (25)]

[Free Stats: 10]

[Talent: Spell Evolution]

[Physique: Origin Spell Physique]

[Rewards: Gold Reward Box (4), Interdimensional Connectors]

Alex looked at the Status Screen for a while. His gaze flickered with emotions. When he had first awakened, the screen had been almost completely bare, so seeing how much information it contained now gave him a sense of achievement, and satisfaction because it showed just how much he had changed.

His eyes eventually stopped on the last reward listed under Rewards.

Interdimensional Connectors.

Alex checked its description.

[Interdimensional Connectors, F Rank]

[Hehehe.]

[Effect: When placed at two unfixed dimensional points, they can connect the two locations and create a portal between them.]

Alex raised an eyebrow as he read the description. He didn’t know exactly what an ’unfixed dimensional point’ was, but he had a fairly good idea of what the System was referring to.

His thoughts immediately went to the giant blue cross in the sky.

’If it’s called an unfixed dimensional point, then it probably means a dimensional connection that hasn’t been stabilized yet,’ he concluded.

After all, if the dimensional connection had already been fixed, monsters from the other side would have been able to travel through it freely. The Wild Orc Leader had also been likely trying to fix the connection to its home world, which made Alex even more certain that the two things were related.

’So if I place these connectors at two such locations, they should be able to connect them and create a portal. With these instant travel will become possible on Earth,’ he thought.

Alex then remembered the map Petra, the Priest in his Hell Difficulty team, had obtained. That map contained a blue cross, and if the symbol represented the same kind of dimensional connection as the giant blue cross in the sky, then the Interdimensional Connectors might be usable there.

He would have to test it later. This was important.

’If this can connect Earth to the Land of Origin, then maybe people who weren’t summoned there by the System can enter the Land of Origin as well,’ he thought.

That would solve a serious problem.

Hard and Hell Difficulty simply didn’t have enough Ascendants. If another Assessment happened and the System once again judged the number of survivors, the Assessment could fail for the same reason as before, so they needed some way to increase their numbers.

’I wonder if Ascendants who enter the Land of Origin this way will also receive two bodies.’

Alex continued thinking about the possibility, but before he could reach an answer, a knock suddenly came from the door. He turned his attention toward the entrance and waited for whoever was outside to make themselves known.

"You can enter," Alex said.

The door opened, and Noah, Roan, Eve, and the other members of Roan’s faction entered the room. They all had grim expressions, while Eve was quietly sobbing, which immediately made Alex realize that something had happened.

"What did you choose? Will you join my faction?" Alex asked. Judging by their expressions, however, it seemed they had already made their decision and were simply worried that whatever had happened might anger him.

"We will join your faction," Roan said.

"Then why do you all look so serious?" Alex asked. He found their expressions strange considering that they had just agreed to join him.

Roan and Noah exchanged a look before Noah stepped forward. He pulled his phone from his pocket, tapped the screen several times, and then held it out toward Alex.

"It’s because of this," Noah said.
