The howling wind tore across the roof of the colossal glass skyscraper, whipping through the dark fabric of Rosh’s formal attire. He stood perfectly balanced on the razor-thin edge of the parapet, his hands resting casually inside his coat pockets as his eyes swept over the sprawling, neon-lit skyline below.

Rosh’s spatial perception was far beyond what any human or standard Calamity beast could comprehend. To him, the world was not made of concrete, glass, or steel; it was a delicate web of dimensional threads and pulsing mana frequencies. Following the strict directive he had been given, his primary objective was clear: locate the elusive entity known as the Doom Overseer.

Searching for a specific, high-tier entity across an entire planet would be an impossible task for an ordinary Awakener, but Rosh’s method was starkly simple. He extended his perception across the globe, searching exclusively for vast, hyper-dense concentrations of dark mana—reservations so immense that they distorted the ambient atmosphere around them.

Within moments, his sensory sweep locked onto two distinct, extraordinary signatures.

The first reserve was located along the rugged, desolate coast of the Eastern Continent, pulsing behind layers of complex spatial locks and ancient barriers. But it was the second signature that immediately caught his attention.

Deep in the heart of the open ocean, thousands of miles away from any major continent or human civilization, a massive well of dark mana was surging from the water. The sheer density of energy radiating from that isolated point was staggering—it was a suffocating, apocalyptic aura that rivaled the presence of a Primordial Calamity Lord.

Rosh tilted his head, a faint, intrigued smirk playing across his features. What was an entity possessing such catastrophic, god-like authority doing trapped in the middle of nowhere?

Without a moment’s hesitation, Rosh raised his gloved hand. With a subtle flick of his wrist, the fabric of reality before him tore open like wet paper. A jagged, pitch-black spatial tear expanded in mid-air, bleeding cold, corrupted mist. Stepping off the edge of the skyscraper, Rosh walked casually into the void.

The transition was instantaneous.

The bright neon lights and howling sea breeze vanished, replaced by an oppressive, bone-chilling cold that tasted heavily of decay and dried blood. Rosh stepped out of the spatial tear, his boots coming down onto smooth, ancient stone floorboards.

He found himself standing inside a colossal, gothic hall. High, vaulted ceilings arched far overhead, supported by massive obsidian pillars carved with intricate, unnatural runes. Faint, ghostly violet flames flickered low inside iron sconces along the walls, casting long, writhing shadows that seemed to dance with a life of their own. The air was so saturated with the thick stench of death and stale mana that a normal human would have collapsed within seconds from instant magical suffocation.

Rosh took three unhurried steps into the quiet hall, his eyes scanning the foreboding architecture.

CRACK.

Without warning, the stone flagstones directly beneath his right foot fractured. A pale, skeletal hand, caked in centuries of dry dirt and rotted earth, burst violently through the floorboards and clamped firmly around Rosh’s ankle! The yellowed, claw-like fingers tightened, attempting to drag him down into the subterranean abyss below.

Rosh didn’t flinch. His expression remained utterly unbothered. Channeling a microscopic fraction of spatial pressure into his leg, he delivered a sharp, casual kick.

BANG!

The skeletal forearm shattered into a cloud of bone dust and fine powder, freeing his boot instantly. Rosh didn’t even bother looking down at the pulverized remains as he continued walking forward.

"Seeing as you are not surprised and the concentration of dark mana is not affecting you, you must be Vincent’s friend," a voice echoed from the far end of the hall.

The voice was dry, rattling, and laced with arrogance, echoing off the high stone walls like grinding stones. At first, the tone carried an effortless confidence—the casual superiority of a sovereign addressing an intruder in his domain.

But as Rosh continued his steady, unbothered advance, stepping fully into the dim violet light cast by the sconces, the atmosphere in the throne room violently shifted.

High above a wide, imposing flight of bone-carved stairs sat a colossal throne constructed entirely from fused human skulls and spinal columns. Resting upon the throne was a tall, immaculate skeletal figure draped in the tattered remnants of a high-collared, dark coat. Deep, abyssal-red pinpricks of light floated within its hollow eye sockets.

The moment the skeletal lord’s gaze landed on Rosh’s face, the creature’s jaw literally unhinged in profound, unmitigated shock.

"Wait... you..." The skeletal lord stood up abruptly, its bony hands gripping the armrests of its throne so hard the fused skulls cracked under the pressure. "You are not a human! How come you are absorbing dark mana so effortlessly while wearing the skin of a human?!"

The abomination was completely bewildered. Throughout its centuries of existence, it had seen powerful Awakeners, desperate Exterminators, and feral Calamity beasts. But a creature that walked like a human, possessed no biological heartbeat, and swallowed high-density corrupted mana without a hint of core degradation was a complete anomaly.

Rosh let out a low, amused breath. He raised his right hand and casually snapped his thumb and middle finger together.

SNAP.

The subtle human template he had projected over his body instantly dissolved into a swirling vortex of pitch-black smoke. The flesh, the hair, and the plain green eyes vanished. In their place emerged his true, cosmic form—a featureless, bio-mechanical silhouette forged from light-devouring obsidian glass. Across the smooth, midnight surface of his starry head and chest, thousands of tiny, brilliant starlight particles swirled and drifted in continuous, fluid motion.

"I am not human," Rosh stated, his voice now carrying a dual, reverberating resonance that vibrated through the foundation of the hall. "But in a way, I am. My nature is of no concern to you. Tell me why you reside in this hall. This island clearly bears the spatial signature of Rilth... how does it come to be floating aimlessly in the middle of Earth’s ocean?"

The skeletal entity remained frozen on the dais for a long second, its burning red eye-lights locked onto Rosh’s starry void form in a mixture of profound awe and deep caution. Slowly, the abomination stepped down from its throne, its bare leg bones clicking softly against the stone steps as it descended toward the base of the staircase.

"Are you Roshhide?" the Calamity Lord asked, halting a few steps up the staircase to look Rosh directly in his featureless visor.

Rosh stood at the foot of the stairs, his posture rigid and unyielding. "No. My father is dead," Rosh declared flatly. "I now hold the authority over space."

The skeletal lord went deathly silent. It tilted its polished skull, the heavy news processing inside its mind as the red pinpricks of light in its sockets flickered.

"That bastard died. Hmm..." the entity muttered, a dry, rattling sound escaping its hollow ribcage.

The skeletal lord straightened its spine, casting aside its initial shock and assuming the grand, ancient dignity of an extra-dimensional ruler.

"I am Garath, the Overlord with authority over death," the skeleton declared, introducing himself with an authoritative echo. "My territory was originally separated from Rilth, and then Roshhide assisted me in converting my domain into a Dungeon Gate. It was a 6-Star Gate, and the primitive humans of that era were completely powerless to stop my land from materializing directly into their world."

Garath paused, looking out toward the heavy obsidian doors of his castle before turning back to Rosh.

"And then... Vincent defeated me," Garath admitted, his voice darkening with ancient, bitter resentment. "He defeated my court and forcefully separated this landmass from the rest of the large continent. If you haven’t noticed... there is an impenetrable, high-tier barrier surrounding this entire island. It seals my domain and does not allow me to step beyond its perimeter. I am trapped here."

Rosh stood at the base of the staircase, absorbing the historical reality of the floating country-block dungeon that drifted across Earth’s oceans. The ancient Overlord of Death was locked behind the permanent barrier of an S-Rank human, completely isolated from both the surface of Rilth and the rest of human society.

"I see," Rosh murmured softly, his starry void form pulsing with a calm, gentle light. "Then you are not the one I am looking for."

He was wrong, this was not where this Doom Overseer was.
