Thankfully, Falcon’s Focus had reached max level, which meant Moon could save a significant portion of his valuable Lives for evolving other skills.
Moon thanked the archer girl internally for evolving it to the final stage for him.
Falcon’s Focus was a useful skill to have. It sharpened his perception, boosted his accuracy, and enhanced his critical rate. But its evolution wasn’t something he was particularly looking forward to. The skill didn’t offer special effects the way his Epic-tier skills did.
The training facility door hissed open.
Two girls walked in, arms weighed down with shopping bags of various sizes and colors.
Selene and Yara had clearly made a full day of it before returning.
Moon smiled as he set the bow back on the rack and walked toward them.
"I was wondering where you two were. Turns out you were shopping."
Yara looked up from her collection of bags. Her face changed immediately from a bright smile to a worried one.
She set her bags down beside the door and crossed the distance to Moon in a few quick steps. Her arms wrapped around him in a tight, careful hug.
"Selene told me what happened. I’m sorry I didn’t come earlier. I was just following our plan."
Moon returned the hug, gently patting her back, the way an older brother might comfort a younger sister who was worried about him.
He hadn’t set out to become an older brother figure to Yara. It had just happened over the past months.
"Everything’s fine, Yara. I’m happy that you followed the plan. That’s what it was there for. And besides..."
He stepped back and looked her over.
"You were out training hard, you look much stronger."
Yara nodded, her worried expression softening into a small proud smile.
"I’ve been hunting in the area around where I spawned. There aren’t any overwhelming beasts nearby, so I’ve been able to work through the ecosystem gradually and efficiently." She paused before saying, "I’ve also gained a new skill."
Moon’s brows rose. "That sounds cool. Would you like to show us?"
"Mhm."
Selene, who had been watching everything with a smile on her face, perked up immediately.
"Yes! Show us, girl!"
Yara nodded and walked over to one of the training dummies at the far end of the range. She unslung the bow from her back before getting into stance.
Yara drew four arrows from her quiver, nocking all four onto the bowstring at once, spreading them slightly with her fingers so each arrow rested along a subtly different angle.
Moon watched with interest.
Her form was excellent, cleaner than most of the Evolvers he had watched during the earlier training session.
Her draw was steady even with the multi-arrow load, which required significantly more strength and coordination than a single-arrow release.
Her body remained aligned along the correct axis.
She was really talented with the bow.
Yara released.
The four arrows left the bow together, travelling in completely different directions. Each arrow followed its own trajectory, one arcing left, one arcing right, one lifting slightly upward, and one dipping toward the ground. Their paths diverged widely for the first portion of the flight.
Then the paths began to curve.
Every arrow bent midflight toward the center of the target. Their trajectories corrected themselves like guided missiles, each shaft adjusting its angle in real time to converge on a single point.
The four arrows arrived at the target’s forehead within a heartbeat of each other, striking almost simultaneously in a tight cluster.
The counter above the dummy began climbing rapidly.
The number rose past ten thousand. Past twenty thousand. Past twenty-five thousand.
It finally settled at 30,120.
~Clap~
~Clap~
Yara turned around to find Moon and Selene clapping for her.
"Yara. That was incredible."
Moon praised her truthfully with no sugar coating.
The skill wasn’t just impressive because it looked cool. It was impressive because it was tactically flexible.
A four-arrow guided salvo could split targets in a group, converge on a single enemy, or thread through obstacles to reach a hidden target. The applications multiplied depending on the situation.
More importantly, Yara had produced a thirty-thousand-point impact with a single skill usage.
That was Three Star Evolver combat prowess.
For someone who had reached Evolver status only recently, alongside Moon and Selene, hitting that number was a remarkable indicator.
Selene, a genius in her own right, was at a similar stage of power, even if a little stronger.
Yara was catching up.
She was keeping pace with a genius like Selene.
As for keeping pace with Moon.
Well.
Almost nobody kept pace with Moon.
Yara lowered her bow with a small satisfied smile.
She turned back to them.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it." Selene said immediately. "That skill is going to save your life so many times."
"It’s already saved my life twice."
"Twice?" Moon raised an eyebrow.
Yara’s smile widened slightly.
"Sit down first. I’ll tell you both."
She walked toward the small seating area at the edge of the training facility, still holding her bow, and gestured for them to follow.
After listening to her story, both nodded their heads at her in admiration. Yara had battle a group of predators stronger than her, and managed to come out alive, with the new skill learnt.
It was an impressive thing to do.
"Wow... That’s so cool. I wish... I could do that. It’s so hard to learn a skill outside of reaching the next stage. It’s near impossible, but you managed to do it in a life and death battle... Well done, Yara. If the Savi Clan could see you, they would be incredibly proud of your progress as their maiden." Selene complimented her with a massive smile on her face.
"Thank you... To go back to Lunaris... I must grow stronger, so that what happened back then, never happens again." Yara said with an expression of sorrow and resolve on her face.
The three of them remained silent, remembering the horrible war between the heretics and Yara’s people, which lead to the death of many Savi that Yara considered family.
