After spending some time listening to Yara’s story, Moon returned to the training range and attempted to work on the final skill.
Piercing Arrow.
He nocked an arrow, activated the skill, and released.
The skill was aggressive, with high-impact.
He liked it.
He tried to keep going.
Twenty minutes in, his mana channels began to complain. His body was warning him that his energy for the day had reached their sensible limit. Piercing Arrow drew more mana per activation than Deadeye had, and after eight hours on Deadeye and several more on Falcon’s Focus, his channels needed to rest.
He racked the bow.
"If I keep going, I’ll strain something."
He had spent enough time on medical beds recently to have learned the value of stopping when his body told him to stop.
"Besides, I have Sierra’s training tomorrow. Better to recover now."
He headed to the shower room.
The hot water washed the day’s fatigue off his shoulders. His muscles unwound in slow, satisfying releases.
He bid Selene and Yara good night in the common lounge and headed to bed.

The next morning, Moon woke up early.
Sunlight fell across his face from the tall window in his sleeping quarters. His eyes opened slowly, his body felt energetic, the fatigue from yesterday had lessened considerably.
He stretched briefly in bed, then rose and dressed appropriately.
The lounge was already active when he arrived.
Breakfast was laid out on the long table in abundance.
Tom’s chefs prepared it every morning. The best of Second Order beast meat, prepared in different styles.
Fresh fruit from the estate’s private greenhouses. Freshly baked bread, a selection of teas and hot beverages that changed daily to avoid repetition.
Tom sat at the head of the table, halfway through his own plate. Selene was already seated beside him, poking at a piece of fruit while she scrolled through her phone.
"Morning."
Moon slid into his usual seat and started serving himself.
"Morning. Your orbital’s ready. To arrive on time, you’ll need to leave in an hour."
Tom’s voice was casual around a mouthful of meat.
Moon nodded.
"Thanks."
The three of them ate together, chatting lightly about the day’s plans. Tom had a full schedule of board meetings. Selene had planned to spend the morning showing Yara around the estate.
Tom finished first. He stood up, clapped Moon on the shoulder in passing, and left for his own commitments.
Moon, Selene, and Yara stayed at the table.
The three of them lingered over the rest of the meal. When it was time for Moon to leave, he glanced at the two girls.
"Do you want to come with me?"
Both of their heads snapped up immediately.
They knew he was going to train at an Ascender’s private estate. That fact alone had sent Yara into excitement all morning, though she had been trying not to show it. Selene’s eyes lit up in interest.
"Are you sure?" Selene’s asked cautiously, very much hoping the answer was yes, "I mean, we weren’t invited."
Moon shook his head.
"Sierra isn’t as strict as you think. She’s warm. Playful, even. Yara could sit in on my session and watch what Sierra teaches. She might learn a thing or two, even from the outside. If Sierra doesn’t want you two there, you can just return in the orbital, or hang out at the estate. Either way, I don’t think she will find you intruding."
Selene and Yara exchanged a look.
They both nodded.
The three of them made their way to the private orbital pad, where Tom’s subordinates had prepared one of the VIP shuttles for the trip. The interior was comfortable and finely furnished. Seating for eight. A small central table. Windows that ran along both sides of the cabin for viewing.
The travel passed in a blur.
Clouds drifted past the windows. The Kingdom’s skyline gave way to open sky. The highlands appeared in the distance as pale blue silhouettes on the horizon, then grew closer, then filled the entire view.
Sierra’s estate emerged from the mountain range.
It was massive.
Exactly what Moon would have expected from an Ascender of her caliber, and yet somehow still impressive to see in person.
The estate sprawled across an entire highland valley. Vast fields of cultivated greenery stretched between the main structures.
A large farm sat on the western edge, its neat rows visible from the air. Multiple training complexes dotted the northern hills, their reinforced buildings arranged around a central archery range that spanned nearly five kilometers. Stone paths threaded between the buildings, and artificial rivers adorned the view.
Sierra clearly valued a peaceful retreat for an estate.
The orbital descended toward a designated landing pad at the eastern edge of the estate.
They stepped off the shuttle and a man was waiting for them.
He wore a black suit tailored like an old-school gentleman’s outfit. White gloves. Polished black shoes. His hair was neatly combed and slightly grey at the temples.
He nodded slightly as Moon approached.
"Welcome, Sir Moon. It’s a pleasure to have you at this estate. Madam Sierra will be with you shortly. I am Robert, the head of household staff. Please, if you have any needs during your visit, do not hesitate to inform me directly."
His eyes flicked briefly to Selene and Yara behind Moon. His face didn’t change, but his tone warmed slightly as he addressed them.
"Ladies. Welcome as well. It is always a pleasure to have new faces at the estate."
Moon inclined his head politely.
"Thank you, Robert. I brought my close friends with me. Selene, on the left. Yara, on the right. They came along on short notice. Would it be acceptable for them to remain during the visit? If Madam Sierra has any concerns, I understand completely."
Robert’s expression didn’t change. He gave a small, dignified nod.
"Absolutely acceptable, Sir Moon. The estate has ample space, and Madam Sierra has always welcomed close friends of her guests. I will inform her upon her arrival, but I anticipate no objection. In the meantime, allow me to escort all three of you to the eastern reception hall for refreshments while you wait."
Moon smiled.
Robert turned, gesturing for them to follow.
The three of them fell into step behind him as he began walking them toward the main estate.
