These guys had no idea what they were up against, they had no idea the sheer difference each rank could have on a monster’s power and capabilities.

Alicar would never underestimate an opponent even if he was much stronger than it, it was absolutely stupid to do so and a quick way to get killed in the Eternal Realm.

But still, he couldn’t deny that the three of them were extremely strong by normal standards, their power undeniable and their potential impressive.

As for Mia, the girl with them, she didn’t even budge from her location, simply staring at them with an unreadable expression, unimpressed by their display of power.

It was at that moment that Alicar decided to slip out from the crowd since he hadn’t been noticed by them, instead heading deeper into the forest away from the commotion.

’Need to level up more,’ Alicar thought, his mind already planning his next moves and calculating the best path forward.

Since Alicar knew he could defeat opponents around level 20 based on his previous experience with the Goblin Commander, he decided to precisely head toward that area, also because he wanted to evolve one of his skills at least once or twice before tomorrow’s expedition.

But as Alicar marched forward through the dense forest, his senses on high alert, he found something else that caught his attention.

Between many trees at the border of a giant cliff, was a cave, and this one seemed to head pretty deep into the earth.

"Huh," Alicar thought, his curiosity piqued by the dark entrance. "Well, I guess there could be something inside, and if there isn’t, it doesn’t really matter," he shrugged, stepping toward the dark entrance.

Alicar stepped cautiously into the cave’s entrance, his senses on high alert as the darkness seemed to swallow the light behind him, the air growing cooler with each step.

The walls were rough and uneven, carved by nature or something else entirely, and as he moved deeper, he noticed something glinting in the faint light filtering from outside.

Scattered along the walls and floor were clusters of crystals, their surfaces shimmering with a faint, ethereal glow, pulsing with energy that seemed almost alive.

They came in various colors, deep blues, vibrant purples, and pale greens, each one radiating a different kind of energy that Alicar could feel but not identify.

’Iris or someone with the [Appraisal] skill would have to be here to know what these are,’ Alicar thought, his brow furrowing with curiosity as he examined them.

He reached out and touched one, feeling a faint warmth spread through his fingertips, but nothing more happened, the crystal remaining inert.

Deciding they weren’t an immediate threat, he continued forward, the crystals becoming sparser as he delved deeper into the earth, the tunnel narrowing around him.

Then as he continued forward, the light began to disappear completely, the darkness becoming so thick it pressed against his eyes like a physical weight.

This forced Alicar to use his elemental skill to summon a flame in his hand to guide his way.

The small fire flickered and danced, casting long, dancing shadows across the walls as he moved cautiously through the narrow tunnel, his footsteps echoing in the silence.

The air grew colder and heavier with each step, and Alicar could feel a strange pressure building in the air, as if something was watching him from the darkness, its gaze pressing against his skin.

After what felt like several minutes of walking, the tunnel opened up into a decently sized chamber.

But unfortunately, there was nothing inside.

’I guess it’s just a cave,’ Alicar thought, ’And without any monsters.’

But the moment his foot crossed the threshold of the chamber, everything changed.

Ding!

[True Title detected.]

The hall from which Alicar had come from closed completely, a massive stone slab sliding down to seal the entrance with a heavy grinding sound, leaving him alone in the chamber.

[Select challenge difficulty, reward will be determined based on that.]

"What?" Alicar’s eyes widened, confusion washing over him as he stared at the glowing panels.

Alicar was confused beyond belief, he had NEVER heard of such a thing ever, even during all his years in the academy even though he constantly ranked at the top of the class in theoretical knowledge.

’A challenge?’ he thought, his mind racing to understand what was happening, his heart pounding in his chest.

The only information he had was that it specifically said that it detected his True Title, perhaps that was the reason this challenge had appeared before him, a test designed for those who had achieved something extraordinary.

The amount of people who acquired a True Title during their time in the First Layer could be counted on one hand, making this an incredibly rare occurrence that few would ever experience across all races.

’Does that mean there are other challenges like this all over the Eternal Realm?’ Alicar wondered, his curiosity warring with his caution as he studied the panels.

First, Alicar had to peer at the panels around him, each one glowing with a different color that seemed to pulse with its own energy.

[Easy] [Hard] [Hell]

These were the three difficulties that had been given to him, and Alicar simply gazed at them, weighing his options carefully.

Alicar had an incredibly bad feeling about this, a chill running down his spine, and if he had the choice, he would definitely leave this place without even a single thought to come back later.

But now that he was here, trapped with the exit sealed behind him, he needed to make a choice and fast.

’The reward must be good, right?’ he reasoned. ’I mean why would such a thing even exist if it wasn’t good.’

Alicar wasn’t the kind of person to risk everything he had for something like this though, so he quickly aimed his finger at the [Easy] difficulty, hoping to minimize the danger and get out alive.

But before he could reach it, a notification appeared that made his blood run cold.

Ding!
