Time passed rather quickly, and in the blink of an eye, nearly thirty minutes had already gone by. The group of seven had now reached the very end of the sparse forest.

Although there had been a slight setback with Christine’s skill suddenly activating and forcing them to stop, the envoy had managed to catch up with the trail in no time.

Originally, he was supposed to use his skill near the giant crater to determine where the White Serpent had escaped. After all, unlike everyone else, the White Serpent was one of the creatures known to be near breaking through to C-rank.

If there was anyone who could have survived Jake’s final attack, it was only natural for it to be the serpent. However, contrary to his expectations, the Singing Trail of Monsters had strangely wandered toward the forest.

At first, the envoy had felt confused, but that confusion quickly turned into amusement.

Why?

Because the Ironfeather Eagle he had intended to eliminate before dealing with the White Serpent resided in precisely that direction.

’Two birds with one stone?’ The envoy couldn’t help but laugh inwardly.

Yet despite his amusement, every one of his senses had already been pushed to their maximum as the forest ahead gradually became denser.

Although the trees here were still relatively sparse compared to the deeper regions, the terrain itself provided the White Serpent with a considerable advantage. A serpent didn’t need an open battlefield — it needed somewhere to hide and strike when its opponent least expected it.

But now, as the group stood before the boundary of the denser forest, nobody spoke. The White Serpent hadn’t attacked them, yet that was precisely what made the situation more suspicious.

The small yellow orb floating before the envoy suddenly flickered, its previously steady glow becoming unstable, repeatedly dimming and brightening as though it were struggling to determine the correct direction.

The envoy’s eyes narrowed beneath his veil, and even the Radiant Stars became silent.

Clara, who was carrying Christine’s unconscious body, instinctively slowed her movements. She carefully adjusted Christine’s position against her back, making sure that her head wouldn’t strike against a branch as they moved.

Clara’s physique wasn’t all that different from Christine’s soft and curvaceous build, and just like Christine, she preferred maintaining a softer physique rather than developing a heavily muscular body.

However, because of her class, she had no choice but to develop a thin layer of muscle beneath her skin. Instead of ruining her appearance, the subtle muscles only added to her beauty.

Her olive-colored skin matched her fiery personality, while her neck-length hair had developed a faint reddish tint after awakening her fire-type abilities.

Clearly, Clara hadn’t been trained to carry heavy weights while running long distances, yet unlike Christine, Clara was a genuine D-rank awakener, and her strength had already reached the maximum potential allowed by her D-rank class.

Because of this, she could utilize the full strength of her class without suffering the same backlash that would occur if someone attempted to force their abilities beyond their limits.

Even while carrying Christine, she felt little to no discomfort. The woman silently stood behind one of the thick trees, carefully observing the area ahead, and the others did the same.

One of the Radiant Stars suddenly widened his eyes as he spoke in a low voice. "Blood ants..."

Hundreds of crimson creatures were pouring out of a small cavern-like structure protruding from the ground.

The cavern itself was barely noticeable from their position, partially hidden beneath the roots of several massive trees. But the creatures surrounding it were impossible to miss.

They continuously entered and exited the cavern, spreading throughout the surrounding forest in a surprisingly systematic manner.

Some moved toward the east and others toward the west, while several disappeared deeper into the forest and others remained close to the cavern. There was an almost perfect organization to their movements.

"So many..." Another member couldn’t help but mutter.

The number of ants continued increasing—ten, twenty, fifty, a hundred—and even more continued emerging from the underground nest. Seeing this, the expressions of the Radiant Stars immediately became ugly.

Nearly a decade ago, the blood ants had been considered practically extinct after the Awakeners Association launched a massive extermination operation against them.

Their colonies had spread rapidly throughout several regions, and because of their reproduction speed and coordinated hunting abilities, they had once been considered an extremely troublesome species.

Eventually, the Association had mobilized a large number of awakeners and wiped out almost every colony they could find.

And yet, not only had they survived, but they had also silently multiplied right beneath the noses of the Seven Radiant Stars—and not to forget, they had done so dangerously close to Valeria City.

Another failure—that was the only thought occupying their minds.

They had failed to eliminate the White Serpent; they had lost Jake Mercer, and now they had discovered an entire blood ant colony inside their territory.

Their already negligible chances of retaining their positions had practically disappeared.

One of the masked stars clenched his fists, grumbling under his breath. ’How many more failures are there going to be?’

He wanted to curse, but he knew there was no point. The envoy was here; their fate had already been decided, and all they could do now was complete this final mission and hope that their performance was somehow enough to preserve their positions. Yet none of them genuinely believed that anymore.

The envoy, meanwhile, seemed completely unconcerned, his attention fixed upon the blood ant colony as the Singing Trail of Monsters continued flickering.

Then, without warning, the envoy stepped forward, the veil covering his face remaining perfectly attached to his skin as his body suddenly moved.

He was fast, far too fast. Even the conscious members of the Radiant Stars barely managed to follow his movement. One moment, he was standing beside them; the next, he had already crossed several meters.

His long robes fluttered behind him as he reached the edge of the blood ant colony, his feet landing against the soft soil.

*Thud.*

The sound was extremely faint, yet the ants noticed it. Through their six crimson legs, they sensed the slightest vibration traveling through the earth, and their movements immediately stopped as several ants raised their heads simultaneously.

The blood ants immediately became enraged. Sharp growls echoed throughout the forest as several ants charged toward the envoy, their crystal-coated mandibles opening and closing violently, their crimson bodies moving across the ground with astonishing speed.

Yet the envoy didn’t move, and he didn’t even break a sweat. As a genuine C-rank awakener, there was no reason for him to fear a group of F-rank monsters.

The first blood ant reached him. The envoy simply raised his hand, and a faint yellow glow flashed.

BOOM!

The ant was thrown backward, its body crashing heavily against the trunk of a nearby tree, while another ant was violently lodged into the earth.

Their chests had completely disappeared, and only roughly torn pieces of their heads and lower bodies remained, blood splattering across the surrounding soil.

The envoy’s eyes shifted toward the remains, and something immediately caught his attention.

"Green blood?" His voice was filled with mild curiosity.

Blood ants were known for their resemblance to ordinary ants and, more importantly, their dependency on blood. Red blood—that was one of their defining characteristics.

Yet the blood flowing from these corpses wasn’t red. It was green, a strange, deep green liquid slowly spreading across the soil.

The envoy stared at it for a moment.

’Did they mutate?’ The thought immediately appeared in his mind.

His gaze shifted toward the dead ant, and only then did he notice another peculiar feature—its eyes, glowing with an eerie jade-green light.

The envoy’s lips slowly curled upward. Unknowingly, he had discovered something quite peculiar.

"Interesting." His voice remained low.

The surrounding blood ants didn’t give him enough time to investigate further. Dozens of them had already charged forward, their bodies moving together, attacking from several directions at once.

The envoy remained completely calm, his white robes fluttering softly in the air. Then...

*Chime.*

The bells hanging from his ears rang, and a faint yellow light flashed across his body. The next instant, nearly twenty blood ants collapsed—some were thrown into the air, others smashed directly into the earth, and several bodies were torn apart before they could even reach him as thick green blood splattered across the ground.

The envoy slowly turned his head. Behind him, the remaining members of the Seven Radiant Stars were staring at the scene with complicated expressions.

Even though they were all awakeners who had reached D-rank, the difference between D-rank and C-rank was still enormous. It wasn’t merely a difference in numbers—it was a difference in the fundamental level of strength.

The envoy had killed nearly twenty F-rank monsters without even showing his true abilities. And yet, for some reason, the sight didn’t make them feel relieved. Instead, their expressions became even more complicated.

The envoy’s gaze slowly moved across the colony—hundreds of blood ants, an organized nest, an unknown mutation, and, somewhere beyond the forest, the White Serpent. Perhaps the mission wasn’t going to be as simple as they had initially believed.

The envoy lifted one hand, his fingers moving slightly beneath his sleeve, and the faint yellow light surrounding him disappeared. Then he turned his head toward the radiant stars, the veil swaying gently.

"Kill them all."
