Inside the forest, a group of seven people was moving efficiently through the trees. Their footsteps blended into the sounds of the surrounding wilderness as they steadily ventured deeper into the unknown region.

At the very front of the group, the envoy moved without the slightest hesitation as his long white robes fluttered behind him. The small yellow orb of light continued floating several meters in front of him.

Every few moments, the orb would emit another faint, melodious chime before changing its direction, seemingly following an invisible trail that only it could perceive.

The remaining six members of the Seven Radiant Stars followed closely behind. Their movements were steadfast, but their expressions were far from calm.

Apart from Christine, the five masked members had already begun exchanging concerned glances.

None of them really spoke, since there was simply no need to. They all clearly knew what was awaiting them after this mission.

They had already been dismissed; as soon as the final threat was dealt with, they would most likely be removed from their positions as the Seven Radiant Stars as well.

The thought alone was enough to make their expressions turn ugly beneath their masks.

Why?

Because for the past decade, they hadn’t merely failed to eliminate the White Serpent, but instead, they had allowed it to grow.

A monster that had once been considered manageable had gradually approached the C-rank threshold under their watch, while they had spent years treating Valeria City as though it were their personal kingdom.

Worse still, they had lost their strongest card—Jake Mercer.

Unlike them, Jake had genuinely devoted himself to protecting the citizens. He had spent several years fighting monsters at the northern borders, repeatedly throwing himself into dangerous situations while the others remained behind and dealt with their own insignificant schemes.

Not to mention that he had fought the White Serpent twice, and both times, he had pushed the creature dangerously close to death.

Had they possessed even slightly greater strength, perhaps the White Serpent would’ve already been dealt with.

Perhaps their current situation wouldn’t have reached this point. But the truth was painfully obvious.

None of them had truly tried.

For the past decade, not a single member of the Seven Radiant Stars had made strengthening themselves their priority. Except Jake.

After suffering his first crushing defeat against the White Serpent, the proud general had apparently taken the matter to heart.

Rather than accepting his defeat, Jake had begun throwing himself into battle after battle.

Meanwhile, the others had been busy playing kings and queens. They indulged themselves in politics, authority, influence, and all sorts of insignificant disputes that had nothing to do with the survival of Valeria City.

At the time, none of them had thought much about it; after all, Jake was only one person.

What difference could his actions make? Now, however, they had finally understood.

The man they had considered an annoyance had been the only one among them who had actually been doing his job.

And even worse, if Jake Mercer were still alive, there would have been a chance that the Association wouldn’t have dismissed them.

The thought made several of their expressions turn bitter. It was ironic.

The person whose supposed death they had been secretly celebrating had become the very person they desperately wished was still alive.

Yet, they were helpless and could only continue following the envoy.

Christine, however, remained relatively quiet as she walked behind him. Unlike the other five, she had never celebrated Jake’s supposed death.

In fact, she had always respected him. Perhaps that was why the current situation felt even more unpleasant to her.

Her fingers tightened slightly, forming a half-complete fist. ’If Jake were still here...’

Yet for some reason, an inexplicable uneasiness had been lingering inside her chest ever since the envoy arrived.

She couldn’t explain why; maybe it was just her instincts. After all, her class had always been troublesome in that regard.

Weak One’s Intuition—A D-rank class.

Despite its low rank, its ability was the reason she had managed to become the leader of the Seven Radiant Stars.

Her class allowed her to glimpse fragments of the near or distant future, although with a strange condition—those visions were never clear.

In a sense, one could even refer to them as if they were much like faint glimpses of fleeting dreams.

She could sense certain things. But the details were often incomplete.

She could neither determine the exact time nor the exact location. At times, even the identities of the people involved remained unclear.

That was the limit of a D-rank class.

Usually, there were two circumstances under which her class would activate. The first was when it sensed an individual with extraordinary potential, someone who could potentially become an important shield in the future.

The second was when it sensed a dangerous force.

And right now, she could sense a similar reaction. Out of nowhere, her eyes widened as a strange image suddenly appeared within her mind.

It came so abruptly that she couldn’t even react, while the forest and the envoy disappeared from her vision.

Everything around her was swallowed by darkness, and before she could realize it, an image emerged in her mind.

It was blurry and heavily distorted, yet it seemed incomparably distinctive. The ground was painted red as blood covered the earth; countless corpses lay scattered throughout the area.

Hundreds of them were monsters, while several were humans.

Christine’s heart skipped a beat when she recognized the robes; they were the robes of the Members of the Seven Radiant Stars.

Their bodies were scattered across the ground, lifeless and mutilated.

But what truly scared her the most was a single figure standing amidst the bloody scene.

His white robes were completely tattered, with blood covering almost every visible portion of his body. His body trembled as he struggled to remain upright, while a thick cloud of dust surrounded his figure.

Christine could feel her breath growing awry, for not even in her wildest dreams would she imagine seeing this man in such a state.

The envoy.

’No...’ Her mind instinctively rejected the scene.

Christine desperately tried to examine the surroundings, but the image refused to become any clearer.

She couldn’t determine where they were, when it would happen, or what they were fighting for.

The only thing certain was that something dangerous was waiting ahead. Yet throughout all of this, Christine’s body hadn’t stopped moving.

To the others, she continued walking. But within her mind, time itself seemed to have slowed down, as not even a fraction of a second had truly passed in reality.

Her earthen-brown irises gradually developed a faint golden glow, and the color spread through her eyes like a droplet of glittering ink falling into clear water.

Her class skill had activated, and the information contained within the vision was rapidly absorbed into her mind.

The location, the people, the danger, and the possibility of death—everything was etched into her consciousness before the vision suddenly came to an end.

Time resumed abruptly, forcing Christine’s body to react immediately.

A sharp gasp escaped her throat as her hand instinctively grabbed her chest. "Ah—!"

Her momentum was ruined, causing her foot to stumble against the uneven ground, letting her fall miserably onto the forest floor.

The sound immediately caused the entire group to halt. Although the envoy’s expression couldn’t be seen beneath the veil, his head slowly turned backward.

The other five members of the Radiant Stars also froze as their eyes immediately landed on Christine.

None of them needed an explanation since they already knew about her ability. They had undoubtedly seen her class skill activate before, but they had never seen her react like this.

Christine remained kneeling on the ground while her hands trembled slightly as she desperately tried to stabilize her breathing.

Her chest rose and fell rapidly. The pressure brought by the vision was gradually overwhelming her mind.

No matter how hard she tried to organize the information, the image continued replaying inside her thoughts. Unable to take it in anymore, she stabbed her fingers into the ground.

"Christine?" One of the members called out.

She didn’t answer; instead, her eyes remained fixed on the envoy.

The envoy stared at her silently, observing her as Christine’s lips finally moved.

"Danger..." Her voice was weak and barely audible.

She swallowed hard, her face turning pale as the final words escaped her mouth. "Ahead..."

Her body immediately went limp as Christine collapsed onto the ground.

The other members instinctively moved toward her, but the envoy raised one hand. "Carry her." His voice remained as calm as ever.

He looked toward one of the female members among the Radiant Stars. "She won’t be able to walk."

The woman hesitated before immediately stepping forward and lifting Christine onto her back. Then, the envoy turned back toward the path.

Then, without wasting another moment, he continued walking.

"We’re going in regardless." His voice came out extremely bland and almost emotionless.

Yet the remaining members of the Radiant Stars couldn’t help but notice something strange about his tone.

There was a familiarity hidden beneath his formal voice—a faint excitement and a restrained exhilaration.

Almost as if the warning Christine had given him hadn’t frightened him at all. But instead, it had made him look forward to whatever was waiting ahead.

The five members exchanged nervous glances in silence. And as they continued deeper into the forest, a single thought emerged within the minds of the Radiant Stars.

’Like student, like teacher.’
