Amazing...
Jackson looked at this scene and muttered in a light tone, a faint frown on his face. It seemed there were quite a lot of factors at play. He would have to do some research before placing really precious treasures inside the badge’s storage space.
Who knew if the Hunter Association suddenly liked the treasure and wanted their hands on it?
With this thought in mind, Jackson sat down and hurriedly dived back onto the internet, searching through forums to find anything relevant. However, after half an hour of research, not only did he not find anything suspicious, but his doubts were also answered. The Hunter Association couldn’t really take things from inside the storage space on a whim. In fact, they could not take anything unless the hunter himself permitted it. No other party had any control over the badge except the hunter himself, after all, it was a treasure bound to the individual.
Most of Jackson’s doubts were answered, but still he didn’t let down his guard.
In the future, I must buy another storage treasure to keep things that are really precious.
With these thoughts in mind, Jackson decided and browsed through the forum for another few minutes looking for another request. However, even after ten minutes, he didn’t find any request that he could take. Most of the requests needed a hunter to be at least Bronze Rank to be eligible for taking them.
It seemed he could not rely on taking requests to earn money.
Sigh... requests would have to wait till I am a Bronze Rank Hunter...
After that, he stopped browsing and focused on the forest outside. It was already two in the afternoon, and he had completed only twenty percent of his original goal.
Before heading back, he needed to at least make one thousand mana stones.
With those thoughts in mind, Jackson headed out holding the combat knife tightly. Following the trails, he quickly found a Blue Horned Deer resting silently below the shade of an ancient tree, completely unaware of Jackson hidden in a bush.
Perfect!
Jackson waited for some time to make sure there were no other monsters in the vicinity. After that, he used the Golden Brush to drastically increase the Blue Horned Deer’s spirit until the monster exploded into a shower of blood.
Ignoring the headache, he moved out to collect the monster core and the pair of sharp horns. Keeping them inside the storage space, he hurriedly moved out.
Just like this, Jackson hunted for hours, using the same strategy to kill the Blue Horned Deer again and again. Three hours passed in the blink of an eye. In these three hours, Jackson had managed to hunt roughly fifteen Blue Horned Deer.
This hunting speed had even shocked Jackson himself. Mind you, when he first came, he had only planned to hunt ten Blue Horned Deer, and now without breaking a sweat he had managed to hunt fifteen of them. To be honest, if Jackson really pushed himself, he could likely hunt another five or ten more, but he had been restraining himself.
His actions had already attracted the attention of other hunters in the vicinity. Although fifteen Blue Horned Deer might not be much in the vast forest, all the hunters who had specialized in tracking this monster were caught off guard when the beasts they had been tracking for days disappeared out of nowhere.
Jackson decided to lie low, not wanting to attract too much attention to himself.
After all, this was not the same world as before the apocalypse. If he stood out too much and attracted the attention of some corporation before he had the ability to resist, who knew what they might do to him? Ending up on some raging experiment table was a very real possibility.
Jackson had heard about numerous such cases, cases of awakened with no background who, because of their peculiar talent, ended up becoming lab rats.
Among the stories, the case of an awakened with six-ring talent was especially familiar. Hawkins’ talent was peculiar—he could turn his body into any monster that he touched, an amazing talent with untapped potential. However, before this talent could blossom, some corporations swooped in like a pack of hungry tigers and devoured the poor fellow to increase their profits.
Jackson had no intention of ending up like that.
Before the sun could completely set, Jackson wrapped up his hunt and promptly took his leave. Along the way, he could see multiple hunters with their faces hanging down, frustration completely written all over them. When he focused, he could hear them discussing the mysterious disappearance of Blue Horned Deer. This was what he was completely expecting. However, one piece of information caught him by complete surprise.
"Brother, I think these few days we should completely avoid coming to the forest."
"I think something fishy is going on in the forest."
"First it was that Peak First Sequence Wild Minotaur, and now the sudden disappearance of multiple Blue Horned Deer."
"It’s been days and the Hunter Association hasn’t sent anyone to take care of that minotaur. I am afraid we will be throwing our lives away in vain if we continue hunting."
The other hunter agreed with his words and decided to stop hunting for some time.
Jackson’s steps paused for a brief moment. Hearing the mention of the minotaur for the second time, he very clearly remembered hearing about this monster the first time when he came to hunt.
The Hunter Association’s behavior also surprised him.
Stopping for a brief moment, he quickly dived through the hunter net and quickly found why the Hunter Association hadn’t taken any action at all.
In fact, the Hunter Association had already issued a request to take care of the minotaur, but the minimum requirement to accept it was a Silver Rank Hunter. For some reason, no Silver Rank Hunter looked particularly interested in accepting this request.
Jackson found it strange.
For a Silver Rank Hunter, dealing with a mere Peak First Sequence Minotaur should be a piece of cake. Then why were they avoiding the mission?
Jackson continued to muse inwardly, but no matter how much he thought, he could not find a definite answer.
