Although Jackson had promised himself not to return to the forest until he was sufficiently prepared, it had only been a day and he had already broken that promise.
Thinking of all these things, Jackson couldn’t stop himself from sighing.
As the saying goes, man proposes and heaven laughs. If it weren’t for Mrs. Laker’s appearance, he surely would have taken his time coming back to the forest, but now because of her, he had no choice but to fight.
If he successfully managed to finish the request, those two hundred mana stones would be enough for his family’s four-day stay.
With all these thoughts in mind, Jackson only paused briefly to purchase an unranked combat knife from the store. With his newly obtained hunter license, it didn’t take him much time. Jackson also wanted to purchase a combat vest to protect himself, but sadly he didn’t have enough money to make the purchase.
...
The forest outside Sector Sixty-Seven’s boundaries was huge. Hundreds of thousands of monsters roamed the landscape, terrorizing the young awakened who dared to explore too deep into the forest.
Jackson looked at the tall trees that looked taller than the earth itself, and thought to himself:
Although the regular expeditions of awakened led by the Hunter Association have cleared most of the strong monsters, a certain degree of danger still remains. I have to be careful.
With the experience from the last hunt, Jackson quickly made his way toward the Blue Horned Deer territory.
Jackson quickly retraced his steps back to the secluded place where he had hidden the horns from his last hunt. Quickly finding the spot, he dug them out.
To his surprise, the three pairs of horns were still intact without any damage.
To be completely honest, Jackson had no hope of finding these horns at all. In his mind, he had already thought through a grueling battle with the Blue Horned Deer to complete the request, but he had been thinking too much.
Without wasting any time, Jackson used the hunter license to message Five Eyes.
...
Meanwhile, somewhere in another distant core of the human territory, a man dressed in neat and clean white lab clothes paced around restlessly while mumbling to himself.
"Damn it all, how can I be so stupid...?"
The man’s name was Jackie, but he was familiarly known by his alias, Five Eyes. Last night he had drunk too much and somehow forgotten to arrange the Blue Horned Deer, an important ingredient in the pill refining. Realizing his mistake a bit too late, he had hurriedly issued a request on the internet, but in a hurry he had managed to forget to mention the minute requirements.
This shouldn’t have been an issue, but to Five Eyes’ horror, a no-name noob had actually accepted the request.
Five Eyes hated himself for being too hasty and hated the noob even more.
Brother, do you know what kind of monster a Blue Horned Deer is?
To him it was clear as day no noob should be able to defeat a Blue Horned Deer.
Just as he was thinking, suddenly the large electronic door slid open, revealing a figure of a young woman dressed in simple white clothing, with her long black hair tied together in a ponytail. A soft clicking sound echoed in the surroundings as the young woman’s high heels made contact with the shiny floor.
Jackie, who was already panicking, felt as if somebody had grabbed his throat by force. Color drained from his face as he muttered in a deathly tone:
"It’s over... Young Miss is already here. If she doesn’t receive the Blue Horned Deer the next moment, she will definitely feed me to the dogs."
Others might not know it, but Jackie was very familiar with his Young Miss, the heir of one of the large corporations of Sector Sixty-Seven, and a person with a very playful personality. If so much as your loud breathing were to irritate her, this simple act was enough to warrant the death of your entire family.
Just at this time, the Young Miss’s eyes turned to Jackie, and immediately a smile appeared on her face.
"Little Jackie, here you are... I believe all the ingredients must be already prepared for you to stay around so leisurely...?"
As the Young Miss said those words, her narrowed eyes stared directly into Jackie’s soul. Even though the Young Miss was decades younger than him, at this time Jackie felt as if he was being stared down by some ancient monster.
Dead. Dead. I am so dead.
Just as he was cursing his fate, suddenly his hunter connection vibrated, and a message played in his head.
When he went through the contents of the message, a shocked expression appeared on his face for a very brief moment, followed by a smile full of relief.
He turned to face the Young Miss and said word by word:
"Yes, Young Miss, don’t worry. All the ingredients are prepared."
Hearing his words, for a very brief moment a look of disappointment flashed through her face.
If it were anyone else, they might not have noticed, but it didn’t escape Jackie’s notice.
Noticing this look, he gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath:
Damn, who the hell was it that suggested joining the corporation after graduating would be a good thing?
Under his gaze, Veronica quickly left, walking deeper into the laboratory to start tweaking things. She had to hurry. Less than one month was left. She had to efficiently use this time to rank at least under the top ten.
It was only when Veronica had completely disappeared from his view that Jackie let out a sigh of relief. He quickly messaged the annoying hunter, knowing he was a noob and probably wouldn’t know how to send the Blue Horns over.
...
After messaging Five Eyes, Jackson didn’t wait for a response but started calculating his next round of action.
Before heading back, I need to hunt at least ten low-ranked monsters.
While thinking about all these things, a small plan formed in his head. Same as last time, he was going to hunt the Blue Horned Deer.
He was just about to head out when the hunter license suddenly vibrated. He had received a message from Five Eyes:
"Place the two pairs of horns inside the hunter license and mark the request as completed."
Jackson read through the message. It took him quite a while to understand the implication.
Does that mean the goods will transfer to Five Eyes directly?
It sounded absurd, but just as he marked the request as complete, the space inside the hunter license rippled, and the two pairs of horns disappeared. In their place was neatly arranged two hundred pieces of mana stones.
