SSS Talent: My Undead Evolve Without Limits

Chapter 97: Who’s a Good, Terrifying Necromancer

[ The Silent Observer Activated. ]

The familiar, overwhelming sensation immediately washed over Malrik. His vision sharpened to a terrifying degree. His perception expanded, capturing every microscopic shift in the room’s mana currents.

And just like before, the mana drain was brutal. He could feel his reserves rapidly bleeding out, sacrificing raw energy for absolute analytical comprehension.

"Start with Shadow Ambush," Malrik ordered.

Fenrir’s golden retriever demeanor vanished instantly. The wolf dropped low to the ground. The shadows beneath the furniture seemed to stretch and reach out toward him.

In the blink of an eye, the massive beast melted seamlessly into the darkness on the floor.

The temperature in the room plummeted. Even with The Silent Observer active, Malrik had a genuinely hard time tracking the wolf’s exact location.

"Good. Now use Shadow Clone."

The shadows on the floor bubbled violently. One by one, identical copies of the massive black wolf pulled themselves out of the darkness.

Within seconds, thirty massive predators packed the room shoulder to shoulder.

Lilith cracked one eye open. She shot a lethal glare at a clone that dared to sniff the edge of her couch.

The clone immediately backed away, whimpering.

"Now Tyrant’s Command."

Fenrir, standing in the center of the pack, let out a low, echoing growl.

A heavy, oppressive mark materialized in the air. It radiated a terrifying pressure that commanded absolute focus.

"Finish with Shadow Step. Then loop them all again."

Fenrir obeyed without hesitation. The massive wolf began teleporting seamlessly from one corner of the room to the other. He dived into the shadows and emerged across the chamber in a fluid, continuous motion.

Malrik stood entirely still. His emerald eyes tracked every single activation.

The information poured into his mind. He saw the exact pathways the mana took inside the wolf’s body.

He saw the precise frequency required to merge physical mass with a shadow. He saw the mathematical breakdown of how a single soul could split into thirty distinct vessels.

And then, as Fenrir started his third loop of the skills, Malrik noticed something deeply fascinating.

Wait. The cost is dropping.

He focused purely on his internal mana reserves.

When he first activated The Silent Observer in the forest, his mana drained away like water from a broken vessel. Maintaining it had been exhausting.

But here, as Fenrir repeated the skills over and over, the rate of Malrik’s mana consumption was steadily slowing down.

The longer he watched the same skill, the less energy it took to comprehend it.

This makes perfect sense.

Malrik analyzed the shifting data. The Silent Observer could not be blocked or resisted by anyone. That had never been the problem.

In the battle, his enemy had not exactly paused to let him study them.

An opponent used their abilities in fleeting, unpredictable bursts. Lokris had to scan the data instantly before the skill ended, all while the enemy was actively trying to kill him.

That forced the ability to operate at absolute maximum capacity, burning through his mana in seconds.

Here, Malrik had total control. He could order Fenrir to repeat the exact same skill, over and over, entirely at his own pace.

The repetition allowed Lokris to build a cached memory of the skill’s structure. The more he saw it, the less analytical power he needed.

Context matters. Analyzing a skill mid-battle is like trying to memorize a painting while someone swings a sword at your neck.

Doing it here is like having the artist slowly paint it right in front of you, stroke by stroke.

A slow, calculating smile spread across Malrik’s face. The mana drain had finally slowed to a manageable trickle.

At this rate, copying every single one of Fenrir’s skills will cost roughly half the mana I needed for Gravios.

He stood quietly in the center of the room. He let Fenrir continue his flawless, repetitive execution of the abilities.

Roughly ten minutes later, the process finally reached its conclusion. Lokris had gathered everything it needed.

A translucent blue window materialized right in front of his eyes.

[ Impostor Activated. ]

[ Target Selected: Fenrir ]

[ Available for Imposture ]

[ Body Structure ]

[ Skill: Shadow Ambush ]

[ Skill: Shadow Clone ]

[ Skill: Tyrant’s Command ]

[ Skill: Shadow Step ]

[ Confirm Imposture? ]

[ YES ] [ NO ]

Malrik smiled, deeply satisfied with the success of his experiment. He was about to mentally press YES when his eyes suddenly snagged on a specific line of text.

Wait. Body Structure? What exactly does that mean?

He remembered seeing that exact same line during his fight with Gravios. He had completely ignored it at the time, far too focused on surviving the chaotic battle to analyze it.

Now, staring at it in a perfectly quiet room, the gears in his mind began to turn.

Lokris is a Faceless.

The Silent Observer did not just record magical abilities. It recorded the complete existence of a target, including their physical structure and racial traits.

He remembered his very first encounter with the entity. Lokris had flawlessly copied the physical forms of both Lilith and the Spider Queen.

Malrik narrowed his eyes as a genuinely terrifying realization slowly dawned on him.

Impostor allows the user to physically assume that recorded identity.

When I activate Black Shroud, I merge with Lokris completely. I gain full access to his innate skills.

His breath hitched slightly. He stared intensely at the glowing blue text hovering in the air.

Does this mean I can physically take their forms too?

The copied abilities would always be constrained by his current rank, but the strategic value of shapeshifting was absolutely limitless.

He did not hesitate for another second. He mentally pressed YES.

The information instantly began to pour into his mind. The mechanics of each skill, the nuances of their use, and the precise flow of mana required to activate them.

He felt the knowledge burning itself into his very soul.

For a moment, his vision swam. His head throbbed violently with the sheer volume of information. But then it settled, and he understood.

Damn it. I’ll never get used to this feeling.

Malrik gasped slightly, clenching his fists as the physical strain faded.

Wait.

He looked down at his hands, his emerald eyes widening.

Now that I am actually focusing on the Body Structure...

I feel like I know every single fiber of Fenrir’s existence. Muscle density, bone structure, everything. It is perfectly mapped inside my head.

He dug deeper into that strange new sensory memory, accessing the older data.

Even Gravios. I can visualize his exact physical anatomy with terrifying, flawless precision.

He looked up, staring at the empty space in front of him. A spark of pure ambition flashed in his eyes.

Should I test it right now?

He closed his eyes. He focused entirely on the mental blueprint of the shadow wolf, visualizing Fenrir’s exact form.

The response was instantaneous. The sleek black bracelet on his left wrist liquefied.

It did not just spread. It crawled. Thick tendrils of living black matter spiraled up his arm, weaving together to form a suffocating layer of liquid armor.

Within seconds, the inky darkness swallowed his neck, his face, and finally his entire body. He was completely encased in the Faceless entity.

On the couch, Lilith immediately sat up. Her lazy demeanor vanished. She leaned forward, her glowing eyes wide with genuine curiosity as she watched the black mass violently bubble and shift.

Malrik felt his perspective forcibly plummet toward the floor. His spine elongated with a series of loud, echoing pops. His human anatomy was aggressively rewritten.

His knees inverted, snapping backward to form the powerful hind legs of a predator. Thick, lethal claws tore through the tips of his shifting limbs, anchoring him to the stone floor.

His jaw violently pushed forward. It stretched into a massive, muscular snout lined with razor-sharp fangs. Coarse, pitch-black fur erupted seamlessly from the liquid armor.

The transformation was brutally fast and entirely painless. Within seconds, the human Necromancer was completely gone.

In his place stood a flawless, imposing replica of the Epic-rank apex predator.

Malrik blinked, his new vision tinted and terrifyingly sharp. He looked down at his massive paws in absolute disbelief.

He flexed his new claws, feeling the terrifying physical strength coursing through his strange new muscles. He could not process the sheer reality of it.

The real Fenrir tilted his massive head. The terrifying beast looked thoroughly confused for a split second, cautiously sniffing the air.

Then, the wolf let out a happy bark. His tail began wagging so frantically that his entire lower body shook. He hopped forward, thrilled by the sight of an identical playmate.

From the couch, Lilith burst into genuine, uncontrollable laughter. She actually clutched her stomach, kicking her legs in the air as her purple mana flickered with her amusement.

She wiped a fake tear from her eye and pushed herself off the cushions. She strolled right up to the massive, imposing beast, completely ignoring his razor-sharp fangs.

"Oh, do not glare at me like that," she laughed, looking right into his glowing eyes. "It is very hard to be afraid of a dark mage when he is covered in this much fur."

She reached out and boldly placed both hands on his massive cheeks, squishing his terrifying snout together.

"Who is a good, terrifying Necromancer?" she cooed in an absurdly sweet baby voice, aggressively scratching him behind the ears. "Yes, you are! Such a good boy!"
