Chapter 1977: Dao Breaks, Reincarnation Dies (I)

“Withdraw to defend yourself against the thunder tribulations and safeguard the four regions,” Li Hao said aloofly. “If not, you will lose all of your people today and the four regions will go down with me. I... am not a saint!”

Long Zhan ground his teeth and howled at the void. He waved a hand over Feng Yan and collected the endless thunder tribulations.

“We head back!” he snarled.

Boom!

The void shook like it’d broken as Long Zhan reverted to the form of a massive dragon. He was ponderously big as he snaked toward the four regions.

Li Hao... had triggered the thunder tribulations just to coalesce a supernatural character and send it into the four regions. He wanted to turn that area into another part of Thunder Region. Could the four regions defend themselves against the incursion?

Clearly not when the chaos beasts were absent. Misery and suffering would abound then!

And the key was, all of the chaos beast would go down in flames alongside countless humans!

Li Hao was too brutal! He was no saint or savior, he was a demon! He’d brought the tribulations to them in order to eliminate interference and sought to destroy the four regions not because he wished to handle Reincarnation...

Damn it!

Only with Long Zhan’s return and using Feng Yan to attract both the thunder tribulations and the supernatural character of ‘calamity’ could they return Thunder Region to calm. This was a development that no one had anticipated.

Clearly, Li Hao had never viewed the chaos beasts as his saving grace. He’d thought of them as the enemy to begin with and forced them back home while he had the time to do so.

“Li Hao, you will be punished for ruining the affairs of a ninth rank and summoning a thunder tribulation!” Long Zhan’s angry yell trailed back from a distance. “You disregarded those living on countless worlds!”

“And who will shed tears for me if I die?” Li Hao responded calmly. “Long Zhan, I am not the Human Emperor or Human King. I am... Li Hao! So what if people and living beings die? I must have the strength and ability to do wandering acts of justice if I am so inclined!

“Since I do not have that ability... all of you guys can just go down with me!”

Nothing made a sound in the premises. Existence itself was silent.

The Reincarnation master threw his head back with a roar of laughter. Nearly in hysterics, he pointed at Li Hao, then at Hong Yitang. One of them was a demon, the other was a saint!

And here they were, fighting alongside each other. What a joke!

......

Li Hao was exceedingly calm. He didn’t like to adjust on the fly. It was highly uncertain who Long Zhan might choose to help, which meant that the dragon was an exceedingly unstable factor. In that case... he would absolutely choose to return and defend the four regions if they were under attack!

Long Zhan worked toward a grand enterprise. He wanted to rewrite the destinies of the chaos race and become the overlord of the chaos!

Hence, he would never permit the four regions to fall to Thunder Region. Such was the human mindset.

All of his talk of killing Li Hao or Reincarnation fell short when it came to the safety of countless chaos beasts in the four regions. Many of the universe’s chaos beasts had entered the four regions. If the territory was wiped out, then the population of chaos beasts would decline by ninety percent.

Even if Long Zhan battled the heavens and rewrote his race’s fate then, what use would that be when his people were gone?

The Human King sent the Arctic Frost master flying with a hack of his blade and hooted with laughter. “Damn, you’re vicious! Li Hao, you’re ruthless!”

The kid was a textbook definition of cold-hearted relentlessness.

A dog that bit people did not bark—such was the Human King’s impression of Li Hao. He knew early on that the young man was heartless, but hadn’t considered how unsympathetic the young man might be.

Li Hao was gambling with the lives of countless worlds, humans, and living beings!

He was betting that Long Zhan would return home to defend it. That was Li Hao.

But if the dragon chose to ignore the happenings, then the four regions would be overrun by thunder tribulations. Not even the human seventh ranks would be able to escape in time. Who would pit themselves against the thunder tribulations for the four regions’ sake?

Not to mention, this was a tribulation with the combined force of Thunder Region behind it. It was beyond terrifying!

The Reincarnation master was still laughing. Li Hao looked silently at him. The young man’s dao domain materialized once more. He looked at Reincarnation and those with the man. “Do you... think you still have a chance?”

Reincarnation stopped laughing. Did he have a chance? He had some eighth ranks by his side, as well as some seventh ranks. Was there any possibility for his success?

There was!

But the chance wasn’t that great anymore. Long Zhan had been forced back to the four regions due to Li Hao’s schemes. The battle in the other regions would likely be over by the time the dragon finished taking care of his business.

On the other hand, while there were plenty of exalted emperors situated on the Human King’s side, they would all falter once Arctic Frost died!

Granted, everyone knew that they wouldn’t lose even without Arctic Frost, so there was no reason for them to falter. Who wanted to die once they reached eighth rank?

A dozen more eighth ranks would be useless once Arctic Frost was gone. Their defeat was written in stone!

Reincarnation looked to the west and the various directions. Chaos Sky, Spring Autumn, and Five Elements had not appeared. They should be aware of what was taking place. What did their continued absence mean?

Did they think there was nothing to be concerned about when it came to the invaders? But if that was the case, then why did they send people in the first place?

Or was the eastern region not a place that they could easily visit?

There was Skyward and Thunder Region here, as well as a lot of other things. Perhaps those existences didn’t dare trespass on a place that was tied to a ninth rank. Were they worried about triggering certain things?

“Reincarnation... let us retreat!” Peng Cheng’s voice rang in the world master’s ears. The kunpeng wanted to withdraw.

Hornet was dead and the two Reincarnation eighth ranks were dead. Although the three eighth ranks from Chaos Sky were still present and Earth Spirit... Clearly Earth Spirit didn’t think highly of their chances either.

It was better to withdraw. Li Hao had broken through the stalemate of this battle.

Allheaven Hall was clearly going to be successfully established today and its opponents were hard pressed to put together another force like this in the future. Their members needed to sit in residence at their own worlds as well, and it wasn’t like the chaos was completely unified. The so-called overlords were yet to exercise complete jurisdiction over all of the worlds in their region.

Mobilizing like this could easily lead to unwanted developments in their backyard. Many eighth ranks had died in total now on the eastern region battlefield.

“Withdraw?” smiled Reincarnation. Withdraw to where?

The west?

Would Li Hao let him leave?

Even if the young man did, his three eighth ranks had fully died and could no longer be revived. After losing a batch of seventh ranks in the previous engagement, his dreams of becoming an overlord were fully at an end.

Chaos Sky would now treat him as a servant. Was he to be at someone else’s beck and call in the west, like Peng Cheng was?

Reincarnation hadn’t given thought to retreat after setting out for this campaign. Whether he lived or died, as the former number one powerhouse of the east, he would not be leaving this region again.

The world master suppressed the ripples in his great dao and he took a breath as he looked at Li Hao. The millstone over his head turned and the path of life and dao opened.

“Silver Moon King, you and I did not share much enmity to begin with,” he laughed meaningfully. “But there is no point discussing that now, is there? With the current state of my affairs, my enterprise is at a complete end. There is no hope on my path of ninth rank as well. So I would like to... witness time!

“My dao contains life and death. Li Hao, dare you enter my door of life and death and battle me?” Reincarnation’s laughter deepened. “What do you think about a fight in which no one else is involved?”

The young man was surprised by the suggestion. He looked at Reincarnation, then at the exalted emperors behind the man who clearly looked like they wished to retreat. “Reincarnation, I once studied some of life and death as well. I know well how strong it is. I will not hunt you down if you withdraw now...”

That was also because he wasn’t necessarily able to kill Reincarnation. There were so many eighth and seventh ranks on the other side, after all. They were very strong.

Making Long Zhan leave only had the effect of freeing up both sides. It didn’t mean that the young man was assured of a sweeping victory. Not to mention, utilizing ultimate moves in quick succession resulted in a high depletion of resources.

Some of the worlds in his river were shaking. He couldn’t maintain this for long either.

Li Hao might not chase after Reincarnation if the man decided to make a run for it. Each failure meant a collective failure for these people. The repeated losses of eighth ranks would gradually weaken them, which might be a better outcome.

He would kill a few each time the opportunity presented itself. A large number of eighth ranks had already died here today. This kind of result was within Li Hao’s expectations. It was just... Reincarnation refused to leave!

“Do you think so little of me?” sneered the man. “Why should I withdraw? The eastern region is where I have put down roots for countless years. It should not be me who leaves!”

He looked at Li Hao with some craziness in his eyes. This might be his last chance. If he did not kill Li Hao now, would he be able to do so with repeated failures?

Reincarnation was not an idiot. He didn’t have a death wish. He was simply well aware that they had failed to kill the Silver Moon king after multiple attempts that stemmed from gathering their strength. Next time?

There wouldn’t be a next time!

Li Hao had barely managed to kill Earth Yang at the beginning, then dispatched Sun Moon, Earth Fissure, and Drifting Life. Now he took down Hornet without a problem. It’d only been a few short months!

The chaos was massive and each journey took a very long time.

Next time?

Next time they met Li Hao might be the day of their death!

It would be such a worthless, pointless death then!

Li Hao had paid such a steep price to build Allheaven Hall. Next time they met might be when Reincarnation was killed in the blink of an eye!

This was not the result that the man wanted!
