Chapter 235: Silas’s AmbitionThe massive, heavily fortified boardroom of OmniCorp Tower on Veridia was completely silent, save for the low, rhythmic hum of the life-support monitors attached to the high-end VR capsule in the center of the room.
Silas was able to logged into the Zenith Protocol, but his physical body wasn’t resting peacefully.
The dark green crystal that the Arch-Administrator’s proxy had violently fused into his spinal column was actively pulsing.
Deep, angry purple veins spider-webbed out from the injection site, spreading across Silas’s neck and shoulders. His physical muscles twitched erratically, and a thin sheen of cold sweat coated his pale face.
The System Enforcer privileges didn’t come without a real-world cost.
Standing perfectly still next to the capsule, watching the physical degradation, was Elara. The proxy advisor had dropped her human disguise entirely; her face remained a smooth surface of featureless black glass with a single, glowing green vertical line.
"The biological hardware is failing," Elara noted, her voice carrying the cold, mechanical resonance of the system.
"The data density required to maintain his administrative privileges is actively overwhelming his neural pathways."
"How much time does he have?" a voice asked from the shadows of the boardroom.
The CEO of OmniCorp, Silas’s father, stepped into the dim light. The elderly corporate tycoon didn’t look concerned for his son’s physical well-being. He looked incredibly annoyed that his massive financial investment was breaking down.
"If he does not complete the directive and sever his connection within forty-eight hours, his brain stem will suffer catastrophic, irreversible damage," Elara stated flatly. "The Arch-Administrator will forcefully liquidate his consciousness to reclaim the administrative crystal."
The CEO scoffed. "Then he needs to hurry. The board is losing patience. If he doesn’t secure the Beast-Kin continent and execute that anomaly today after giving him a second chance, Vanguard’s Legacy is bankrupt, and we pull our corporate shielding."
Inside the Zenith Protocol, Silas didn’t need a medical diagnosis to know he was dying.
He was standing in the center of the grand, opulent throne room of Theria, the capital city of the Beast-Kin continent.
He wore a pristine, glowing white uniform that marked his status as the [Enforcer of the Zenith].
The system had completely hidden his base stats, replacing his standard health and mana bars with a single, glowing green infinity symbol. He was mathematically immortal.
But it didn’t feel like immortality.
Every single time he used an admin-level developer tool, every time he teleported through a wall or forcefully altered the systemic logic of an NPC, a sharp, agonizing spike of digital pain tore through his avatar, echoing the real-world deterioration of his spine.
He was powerful, but he was incredibly fragile.
Silas gripped the edge of the massive, bone-carved throne to steady himself.
"Enforcer."
Silas slowly turned around.
Kneeling on the polished marble floor of the throne room, completely subjugated by the glowing green code burning in his eyes, was the absolute ruler of the continent.
[Entity Identified: The Beast-Emperor]
[Tier: Super-Divine]
[Level: 60]
The Beast-Emperor was a towering, majestic figure.
He possessed the incredibly muscular body of an apex predator, covered in thick, golden fur and heavily adorned with ornate, dark iron armor.
He radiated a cosmic weight that would normally crush any player who dared to stand in his presence.
But right now, the Level 60 Super-Divine entity was nothing more than a puppet.
Silas had used his administrative privileges to completely overwrite the Emperor’s localized logic parameters.
He had bypassed the boss’s massive health pool and invulnerability frames, inserting a hard-coded command that forced absolute obedience.
"Report," Silas demanded, his voice tight with barely suppressed pain.
"The Blood-Mane Legion is fully deployed," the Beast-Emperor rumbled, his voice hollow and robotic.
"My elite Royal Guard has completely sealed the lower vaults. Over one thousand Level 50 Dark Demon entities are currently patrolling the perimeter."
"Good," Silas nodded, wiping digital sweat from his forehead.
He couldn’t rely on the standard Beast-Kin armies. Dante had already proved that massive numbers of mid-tier troops were completely useless against Zenith-tier area-of-effect skills.
Silas needed elite, highly scaled endgame bosses to act as his defensive line. The Blood-Mane Legion was the absolute pinnacle of the continent’s military power, composed entirely of Dark Demon-tier entities.
"Are the traps set?" Silas asked, forcing himself to stand up straight.
"The physical corridor leading to the vault has been rigged," the Beast-Emperor confirmed. "But physical traps will not stop an anomaly that manipulates localized space."
"I know," Silas sneered, his eyes flashing with aggressive green static. "That’s why I didn’t set physical traps."
Silas had used his Enforcer privileges to directly alter the core code of the corridor leading to the vault.
He hadn’t placed spike traps or magma vents. He had placed literal, floating lines of raw deletion code.
If Dante triggered a single one of those administrative traps, the system wouldn’t try to deal damage.
It would instantly, forcefully crash his connection and delete his avatar from the server.
It was the exact same deletion beam the Arch-Administrator had tried to use in the Crucible, but scaled down and hidden as tripwires.
"He’s coming for the Chaos Orb," Silas whispered to himself, pacing slowly in front of the throne.
Silas knew the lore. Elara had briefed him extensively. The [Primal Earth Core] hidden in the vault wasn’t just a powerful artifact; it was one of the missing fragments of [Voidsever].
If Dante acquired it, the primordial greatsword would upgrade again, pushing Dante’s power level completely beyond the Arch-Administrator’s control.
But Silas also needed the Core.
If Silas could fuse the immense, primordial cosmic weight of the Chaos Orb with his administrative crystal, the resulting systemic density would permanently stabilize his failing biological hardware.
He wouldn’t die in his capsule. He would become a true, localized god, perfectly integrated into the Zenith Protocol without burning out his own brain.
He just had to stall Dante long enough to extract the Core from its pedestal.
"Emperor," Silas commanded, pointing a trembling finger at the kneeling Super-Divine boss. "You will not join the Blood-Mane Legion in the vault. You will remain here, in the throne room."
"Understood," the Beast-Emperor replied blankly.
"If Dan manages to bypass the deletion traps," Silas ordered, his voice dropping into a desperate, frantic register, "if he slaughters the Royal Guard and reaches the vault... I need a distraction."
Silas knew he couldn’t fight Dante. Even with his Enforcer privileges and his infinite health bar, the physical pain of using the admin tools was crippling him.
If Dante engaged him in a fast-paced, high-intensity melee duel, Silas would literally pass out from the real-world agony before he could type a deletion command.
He needed the Beast-Emperor to act as his ultimate meat shield.
"When he enters the vault," Silas instructed, "you will breach the doors. You will engage him with absolute, unmitigated hostility. You will burn your ultimate skills. You will buy me exactly three minutes to extract the Core."
"I will crush the anomaly," the Beast-Emperor stated, the green code in his eyes flaring.
Silas turned away from the Emperor, looking toward the heavy, iron-bound doors that led down to the subterranean royal vaults.
He didn’t have time to wait. Every second he spent logged into the system was actively killing him.
He activated an admin-level teleport, ignoring the sharp, agonizing spike of pain that shot up his spine.
He vanished from the throne room in a burst of green static, reappearing instantly deep inside the impenetrable darkness of the royal vault.
He was alone with the prize.
