Harper leaned back against the plush velvet cushions, resting a contented hand over her flat toned stomach as she let out a long satisfied sigh.
"Man..." Harper groaned, rolling her shoulders. "I could honestly eat another entire plate of those roasted mana-potatoes... but we can’t afford to fall behind schedule. Phase Three waits for no one!"
Across the table, Seraphina sat with pristine noble poise.
In reality, her stomach was completely stuffed to maximum capacity... she had eaten three times her normal aristocratic portion just to ensure she didn’t leave a single scrap behind Harper.
"I concur," Seraphina stated smoothly, dabbing the corners of her mouth with her linen napkin. "A disciplined noblewoman understands the importance of temporal punctuality. I am ready to proceed."
SWISH!
The head maître d’ glided silently up to the table, holding a sleek, silver tray containing the finalized, leather-bound bill folio. He placed it gently in the center of the table, bowing low.
"Whenever you are prepared, esteemed guests," the maître d’ murmured.
Harper immediately reached into the pocket of her tailored trousers, pulling out her black corporate platinum card.
"Put it on House Whitmore’s—"
"Hold your hand, commoner!" Seraphina interrupted, her voice ringing with haughty authority as she raised her palm.
Harper frowned, turning her head. "What now, Princess? You gonna check your empty pockets again?"
Seraphina sneered, her crimson eyes flashing with triumphant disdain.
"I do not require liquid plastic cards to settle a basic dining ledger," Seraphina stated coldly.
She looked up at the maître d’, projecting the full unyielding weight of her ancestral lineage.
"Charge this entire balance directly to the primary corporate line of House Bloom... Tag the invoice under my personal authorization code: Crimson-Sovereign-77. Once I return to the Bloom Manor this evening, the family treasury will wire the funds in full, alongside a fifty-percent sovereign gratuity for Master Bartholomew’s kitchen staff."
The maître d’ froze. His eyes bulged as the numerical reality of a fifty-percent tip on a multi-million-credit bill processed in his mind.
"H-House Bloom’s direct corporate line?!" the maître d’ gasped, his voice trembling with hysterical joy. "With a fifty-percent sovereign gratuity?! Lady Bloom, you are the living embodiment of grace and celestial benevolence! May the ancestral flames forever illuminate your noble house!"
The maître d’ snatched the bill folio, bowing so low his nose practically touched his knees, and sprinted away down the corridor singing her praises at the top of his lungs.
Harper clicked her tongue in profound irritation, aggressively shoving her platinum card back into her pocket.
"Tch... Show-off."
Seraphina smirked, leaning back and resting her chin in her hand. "It is not showing off, Harper Whitmore. It is simply the undeniable reality of sovereign nobility."
Silas watched the entire transaction, letting out an exhausted breath.
’At least I didn’t have to sell a kidney to pay for the noodles.’
...
The group descended the express lift, greeted by the entire floor staff bowing in synchronized, reverent lines as they walked out into the private landing bay.
Harper unlocked the custom midnight-purple sports coupe with a casual tap on her Spirit Phone.
The scissor-doors hissed open, and Silas collapsed into the front passenger seat, while Seraphina gracefully slid into the back.
Harper pushed the ignition rune.
VROOOOOOOM!
The twin-turbo mana engine roared to life with an aggressive throaty snarl. Harper shifted the gear lever, expertly drifting the vehicle out of the floating landing bay and merging onto the high-speed skyway that wove between the glowing neon towers of the Central District.
The city beneath them was a sea of glittering holographic billboards, towering corporate spires, and streams of floating mag-vehicles.
Silas leaned his head back against the leather headrest, a sudden involuntary shiver running down his spine as he glanced sideways at Harper.
"Harper..." Silas began, his voice dripping with deep cautious dread. "What is Phase Three?"
Harper’s lips curved into a mysterious mischievous smirk. Her violet eyes flicked toward him in the rearview mirror.
"Phase Three is a total surprise, handsome," Harper teased, tapping her fingers rhythmically against the steering wheel. "Just sit back, relax, and let the magic happen."
Silas’s left eye twitched. "Every time you say ’surprise,’ my lifespan decreases by five years."
From the back seat, Seraphina leaned forward, crossing her arms over the front console as her brow furrowed in deep noble annoyance.
"Cease this childish obfuscation, Harper," Seraphina nagged sharply. "A proper operational itinerary requires clear, transparent milestones... Disclose the coordinates and nature of the destination immediately."
Harper gripped the steering wheel, her annoyance finally snapping as she glared at the crimson noble through the rearview mirror.
"We’re going to watch a damn movie, alright?!" Harper shouted back with her patience evaporating. "It’s a luxury theater! Now shut your royal mouth and just fuck off for five minutes so I can drive!"
Seraphina gasped in aristocratic outrage. "How dare you use such vulgar language in my presence—"
"Quiet, both of you," Silas muttered tiredly, staring blankly out the window. "A movie. Fine. As long as nobody asks me to try on another luxury coat, I don’t care."
...
Ten minutes later, the sports coupe glided down from the skyway, pulling into the private VIP valet of The Astraea Imperial Holo-Cinema.
Located in the heart of the cultural theater district, The Astraea was a monolithic palace of black obsidian and glowing violet crystal, catering exclusively to high-ranking Awakened Lords, corporate executives, and guild masters.
They walked through the grand, velvet-lined entrance lobby.
Silas looked around at the towering crystal chandeliers, the private security wards humming silently in the walls, and the floating holographic movie posters displaying larger-than-life battles and dramatic romances.
’We literally have a seventy-inch smart TV in the living room...’ Silas thought, rubbing the back of his neck with a deadpan sigh. ’I could be sitting on the sofa in my sweatpants watching anything right now. Why do rich people have to turn sitting in a dark room into an eight-figure military operation?’
Harper walked up to the private VIP concierge desk, flashing a golden digital ticket from her Spirit Phone interface.
"Reservation for Suite Primus," Harper stated smoothly.
The receptionist... a beautiful young woman in a gold-trimmed uniform bowed instantly.
"Welcome, Lady Whitmore. Suite Primus has been fully sterilized and calibrated to your preferences. Please, follow the luminescent path to the top tier."
The group proceeded down a wide, soundproofed corridor lined with deep purple carpeting and soft, recessed floor lights.
As they walked, Seraphina stepped up beside Harper, her crimson eyes scanning the holographic promotional banners floating along the walls.
"So," Seraphina asked, her melodic voice laced with skeptical curiosity. "What genre of cinematic simulation have you selected for this engagement?"
Harper puffed out her chest, tilting her chin up with unshakable confidence.
"Horror, obviously," Harper announced proudly with a sharp smirk on her lips. "It’s an exclusive, unrated screening of an ancient Rift incident. Psychological terror, gore, dimensional entities... it’s literally my favorite genre."
In reality, Harper’s internal organs were clenching in cold-sweat terror.
She despised horror movies.
She was terrified of ghosts, cursed relics, and creepy dimensional entities that didn’t have physical bodies she could punch with lightning.
But the LordTube Ultimate Date Guide had been crystal clear...
Horror movies induce adrenaline spikes, causing female companions to instinctually seek physical shelter against their male partner’s chest, accelerating romantic intimacy by four hundred percent.
Harper was fully prepared to endure psychological trauma if it meant spending two hours clinging to Silas’s muscular arm.
Seraphina, however, let out a loud displeased scoff.
"Horror?" Seraphina complained, crossing her arms with disdain. "How utterly barbaric and devoid of artistic merit. We should be viewing an Imperial Historical Epic... specifically, ’The Crimson Empress of the Eastern Spires,’ a sweeping multi-part masterpiece depicting a high-born noble maiden who conquers the continental courts alongside her devoted common-born consort!"
"Nobody wants to watch your three-hour historical propaganda self-insert fanfiction, Princess!" Harper fired back, baring her teeth. "Horror builds character! It tests awareness and combat readiness under delicate situations!"
"It is a cheap sensationalist drivel designed for low-tier mercenaries!" Seraphina argued fiercely, stepping directly into Harper’s path. "A historical drama provides cultural refinement and moral elevation!"
"I’m the one who paid for the suite, so we watch what I picked!"
"I will buy the entire cinema right now and replace the film reel with twenty copies of the Crimson Empress!"
"Will you two shut up?!"
Silas’s voice snapped through the corridor like a thunderclap. Both girls halted instantly, turning their heads toward him.
Silas looked between the furious, sparkling Lightning Lord and the haughty, glaring noble heiress with his golden-ringed blue eyes looking very steady.
"I want to watch the horror movie," Silas said flatly. "I’ve spent the last few weeks fighting actual monsters in the mud so let’s see if movies can make anything that actually looks dangerous."
Hearing his definitive verdict, both girls instantly snapped their mouths shut.
Harper’s face lit up with smug, silent victory, while Seraphina’s cheeks dusted with a soft compliant pink blush as she quietly lowered her chin.
"Very well," Seraphina conceded in a tiny, surprisingly obedient voice. "If... if that is your preference, Silas... I shall permit it."
They reached the end of the corridor, where a set of heavy, runic-engraved double doors parted smoothly to reveal Suite Primus.
The private viewing chamber was massive.
Instead of standard theater seating, the room featured a colossal U-shaped master recliner couch forged from deep burgundy velvet, piled high with silk cushions and plush throws.
Floor-to-ceiling wards were embedded into the dark acoustic walls, while a massive ultra-high-density holographic projection field spanned the entire front of the room.
Reginald stopped precisely at the entrance.
The elderly butler bowed stiffly, walking over to a solitary, high-backed leather armchair positioned in the far back corner of the suite, well outside the primary viewing zone.
"I shall remain stationed in the observation perimeter, Lady Seraphina," Reginald murmured, sitting with his spine straight and his hands folded neatly over his lap.
"Thank you, Reginald," Seraphina replied.
Silas walked down the short flight of carpeted steps and took a seat directly in the center of the massive burgundy velvet couch.
He leaned back into the plush cushions, stretching his long legs out over the footrest.
Immediately, the seating war began.
Harper lunged forward, sliding smoothly into the couch directly against Silas’s left side.
She tucked her legs beneath her, leaning her entire upper body firmly against his left bicep, her violet eyes flashing with a shy triumphant warmth.
Not to be outdone for a single second, Seraphina gracefully walked around the front, sliding onto the right side of the couch.
She smoothed her crimson gown and pressed her hip and shoulder snugly against Silas’s right arm, her cheeks glowing with a brilliant blush as she settled into his personal space.
Silas sat dead center between them, completely pinned by two high-tier awakened women clinging to his sides like heated velvet blankets.
’This couch is ten feet wide,’ Silas thought, staring blankly ahead. ’And yet I have exactly zero inches of personal space.’
HUMMMMM!
A sleek hovering silver service drone floated silently into the suite, descending gracefully over the central coffee table.
Mounted on the drone’s magnetic tray was a colossal gold-trimmed tub of warm, freshly popped mana-corn dusted in sweet caramel glaze, alongside three tall crystal glasses filled with chilled, sparkling berry elixir.
The drone set the refreshments down with a soft click and floated back into the shadows.
Seraphina looked down at the steaming, sweet-scented mana-corn.
Her crimson eyes flicked sideways toward Silas’s rugged jawline as a sudden bold idea took root in her blushing mind.
She reached out, gently picking up a piece of the golden caramel popcorn between her manicured fingers.
She leaned close to his ear with the subtle scent of jasmine rolling over him.
"Silas..." Seraphina whispered softly, her melodic voice carrying a sweet incredibly shy tremor as she held the popcorn near his lips. "Would you... feed me a piece? As a gesture of spousal harmony?"
Silas turned his head slightly, seeing the intense, hopeful glow in her red eyes.
He didn’t have the energy to argue.
He reached over, picked up a piece of the caramel mana-corn from the tub, and gently pressed it against her lips.
Seraphina parted her glossed lips, taking the sweet treat from his fingers with a delicate, breathtaking grace.
A radiant beautiful smile spread across her entire face, her crimson eyes shimmering with joy as she leaned her head affectionately against his shoulder.
Beside him, Harper’s jaw dropped.
"Hey!" Harper protested loudly, her competitive instincts roaring back to life as her face turned a bright jealous red. "That’s cheating! Silas, feed me one too! I’m the one who paid for the VIP tickets, so I get—"
Before Harper could finish her sentence, the entire private suite violently, abruptly plunged into pitch-black darkness.
CLICK.
The soft lights extinguished completely as the hum of the wards surged to maximum output, vibrating through the floorboards with a deep bone-chilling sub-frequency that made the air in the room feel instantly heavy and suffocating.
Harper froze mid-sentence, her mouth snapping shut as her fingers instinctively clamped around Silas’s left forearm with enough grip strength to crack standard steel.
HUMMMMM... FLASH!
