Chapter 413: Vibrator [Bonus Chapter]

"Hey, it’s really not a big deal," Silas said softly, noticing the pure horror in her eyes as he reached out to pat her arm. "You’ve been working hard on the defenses, so—"

"I AM SORRY, LORD GRAVES!" Gunnhild shrieked at the top of her lungs, forcefully pushing herself backward off his chest with her boots skidding across the stone.

Tears of world-ending embarrassment spilled from the corners of her eyes as she covered her face with both gauntlets, spun on her heel, and bolted toward the bathhouse at high speeds, leaving a trail of dust in her wake.

Silas stood with his hand still hovering in the air, utterly bewildered.

Evelyn took another long, slow drag of her cigarette, watching the crying warrior sprint across the courtyard before looking over at Silas with that trademark deadpan exhaustion.

’Yeah I’m guessing she’s depressed...’

"Is she going to survive that mental breakdown, or do you need to reassign her squad?"

Silas gave a helpless shrug. "Beats me. Girls in this territory have some weird priorities."

"Clearly," Evelyn snorted, flicking her head toward the southern quadrant. "Come on. My quarters are this way."

A few minutes later, the two of them entered one of the Tier 2 Multi-Floor Living Quarters that Silas had constructed on the western edge of the Blessed Land to house Evelyn and her remaining inner circle.

Silas stepped through the heavy wooden door into Evelyn’s personal quarters, instinctively bracing himself for a room that smelled like a tavern ashtray.

To his genuine surprise, the room was remarkably clean.

The wide stone window was pushed fully open, letting the crisp mana-rich breeze of the Umbral Basin circulate through the spacious chamber.

The air smelled of clean linen, polished wood, and faint traces of lavender... not a single whiff of stale tobacco smoke lingered in the fabrics.

"Huh," Silas noted, nodding in genuine approval as he walked across the room. "I’m impressed, Evelyn. I figured your room would look like a condemned scrap heap. It’s actually really nice in here..."

"I have basic hygiene standards, Silas," Evelyn deadpanned, locking the door behind them. "I smoke outside to keep the fabrics clean... Don’t act so surprised."

Silas walked over to the neatly made bed and sat down comfortably on the edge of the mattress.

As he leaned back on his hands, his blue eyes naturally drifted toward the low wooden counter beside the washbasin.

Resting prominently on the polished stone surface, catching the natural light from the window, was a smooth and brightly colored egg-shaped silicone device with a sleek metallic base.

Silas blinked. He leaned forward slightly, squinting at the odd shape, his brow furrowing as the realization slowly dawned on his modern mind.

’Wait a minute... isn’t that a—’

Before the thought could even finish forming in his head, a blur of dark gray fabric shot across the room.

Evelyn snatched the vibrating egg off the counter with lightning-fast reflexes, violently shoving it behind her back.

Her permanently tired pale face instantly turned an incandescent shade of crimson.

Her dark eyes flared with raw, frantic embarrassment as she glared daggers at him, her chest heaving beneath her oversized hoodie.

’It’s not what you think, fucker!’ Evelyn screamed internally, her soul practically leaving her body. ’You’re an eighteen-year-old virgin, you don’t know shit about adult stress management! Why the hell did I leave that on the counter?!’

Silas didn’t say a word.

He slowly raised a single unimpressed eyebrow at her, his expression flattening into pure deadpan judgment.

He casually rolled his eyes toward the ceiling, quietly pushed himself up off the mattress, and stood up straight, smoothing his clothes.

’If she’s been using that thing in here... did she do it on this bed?’ Silas thought, a slight shiver running down his spine as he took two deliberate steps away from the sheets. ’Did I just sit down directly on Evelyn’s personal—’

"Shut up!" Evelyn snapped aloud, her voice pitching slightly higher than usual as she aggressively shoved the device into an obscure drawer and slammed it shut with a loud clack. "Don’t you dare say a single word, Graves!"

"I didn’t say anything," Silas replied smoothly, crossing his arms with an amused smirk. "You’re the one yelling at the furniture."

Evelyn took a deep shuddering breath, forcibly pulling her oversized gray hood further down over her burning face to hide the lingering blush.

She cleared her throat roughly, trying desperately to salvage whatever shred of dignity she had left.

"Anyway," Evelyn rasped, aggressively changing the subject as she reached into her inventory. "Here’s the rest of the package. Jax managed to forge the database records perfectly so everything is clean."

She tossed two items onto the wooden table in front of him.

The first was a sleek modern smartphone encased in a vibrant pastel-pink cover patterned with cartoon kittens.

The second was a neatly folded, high-tier black designer dress made of elegant alchemical silk, complete with matching gloves and accessories.

Silas picked up the bright pink kitten phone, staring at the screen with bewilderment.

"Really, Evelyn? Kittens?"

"Kara White is a nineteen-year-old civilian girl who lives in Valoria City," Evelyn explained, leaning against the wall and crossing her arms with a defensive scowl. "She doesn’t carry a military slab. The phone is fully registered under Kara’s civilian ID, loaded with basic applications, and completely air-gapped from your Lord Association profile... When you make your Descent back to Earth, you need to find a private changing stall, put on the dress, activate the disguise ring to shift into Vespera, and carry that phone."

Silas picked up the soft silk dress, inspecting the fine embroidery.

"Is there actually a tangible strategic advantage to setting up this whole social media farce? Or are you just enjoying watching me crossdress?"

Evelyn snorted, rolling her eyes.

"I couldn’t care less about your wardrobe, Slas but yes, there is a massive strategic advantage like I said before... Right now, ’Vespera’ is a ghost. The guilds think you’re an unregistered rogue Lord or a hidden weapon from a foreign alliance. By creating an active, verified Social Media profile and sharing basic, controlled livestreams under the Vespera persona, we establish a public narrative. We prove that Vespera is an independent entity operating in the human world. The public attention will act as a legal shield... the big guilds won’t be able to assassinate or kidnap you in the dark if five hundred million people are actively watching your stream."

Silas nodded slowly, recognizing the sound logic behind the plan. In a world driven by corporate monopolies and public perception, fame was an impenetrable armor.

"Alright," Silas agreed, transferring the pink phone and the black dress directly into his Lord Inventory. "That makes sense. So, where are we meeting on the surface?"

"I already booked a private suite under a shell company at the Skybli Hotel near Silverleaf," Evelyn answered, checking the time on her wrist terminal. "We need a secure high-end location to set up the network broadcasting nodes."

Silas paused, his brows slightly raising. "Skybli Hotel? That’s weird. That’s literally right next to the plaza where I went out for dinner with Lia and Martha just tonight."

"Then you should know the area," Evelyn replied dismissively. "We meet on the street outside the main lobby. And for the record, I’m showing up in my normal, real-world appearance... A thirty-year-old masked Lord like ’Lord Sky’ meeting a nineteen-year-old girl at night looks insane. I’ll just be Evelyn."

Silas considered the narrative they had constructed for Kara White.

The official cover story was that Kara had failed her initial Awakening Ceremony at eighteen, only to unexpectedly trigger a delayed anomalous core manifestation a full year later... coinciding with the exact timeframe of Silas’s current group.

Delayed awakenings were rare, but documented anomalies that occurred every single year across the globe. It was the perfect, airtight explanation for why a high-tier talent had zero corporate sponsorship.

"Won’t it cause trouble for you if you’re seen walking around in public with Kara White?" Silas asked, looking at her with genuine curiosity. "Once we launch the stream, Kara is going to be one of the most famous scrutinized names on the planet."

Evelyn gave a careless lazy shrug, pulling another slim cigarette from her pocket and rolling it between her fingers.

"Nobody pays attention to me in the real world, Silas," Evelyn said softly, a faint, self-deprecating smirk touching her lips. "To the rest of the planet, I’m just a rich business woman who lives in the industrial sector. I’ll be fine."

Silas smiled, stepping toward the center of the room. "Alright. Thanks for sorting all of this out, Evelyn. I appreciate the hustle."

"Yeah, yeah. Just don’t embarrass me out there," Evelyn muttered.

Silas called up his digital interface, his finger hovering over the glowing [Ascend] tab.

With a soft hum of displacement magic, his body dissolved into a pillar of light, vanishing entirely from the Sovereign Realm as he initiated his return to Earth.

Evelyn stood in the quiet room, staring at the empty space where he had just been standing.

She let out a long ragged breath with her shoulders sagging.

’I... I should really punch him in the ribs next time,’ Evelyn thought, running a trembling hand through her messy dark hair.

Ever since their trip to Shogitown... where she had completely ruined his day off by dragging him into her family drama and forcing him to help her stalk her brother.

Evelyn had felt a deep, gnawing sense of guilt. Silas had never complained, had treated her with nothing but patience, and had even saved Elm’s life without asking for a single credit in return.

Setting up this fake identity and sorting out his social media was the bare minimum she could do to pay him back. He was a good guy, even if he was an annoying, smug asshole.

She looked down at the floor, catching sight of the forgotten silicone egg lying by the wastebasket where she had kicked it.

’Fuck... Fuck... Fuck!’ Evelyn groaned in agony, burying her face in her hands. ’He definitely knows what that was. He literally looked at the bed and stood up! He thought I soaked the mattress!’

Just when she was trying so hard to present herself as a competent woman, she had managed to look like a desperate, degenerate pervert in front of a teenager.

And the worst part? The reason she had even bought the damn thing in the first place... wasn’t it because her brain wouldn’t stop replaying the way he—?

’Gods damn it all.’

Evelyn aggressively crushed the unlit cigarette between her fingers, tossed it into the bin, and pulled out a fresh one.

She lit it with a quick snap of mana, taking a massive drag to forcefully smother the rising panic in her chest.

"Whatever, fuck it all..."

She was depressed... She was trying to hide it but had Silas seen through? Evelyn doubted it, he couldn’t read her that much.

She brought up her own interface and slammed her thumb onto the [Ascend] button.

The world dissolved into pitch-black nothingness.

A fraction of a second later, the sensory deprivation of the spatial jump shattered.

Evelyn materialized in the physical world, sitting on a weathered wooden park bench across the street from the towering crystal-paned facade of the Skybli Hotel.

The night air of Valoria City was cool and bustling, filled with the distant hum of mag-trains, hovering delivery drones, and the chatter of citizens navigating the pristine sidewalk.

She had deliberately initiated her Descent from this exact park bench earlier, ensuring she would spawn directly at the meeting point.

Evelyn pulled out her personal smartphone, checking the encrypted network feed.

’Silas came online and offline, huh?’

She slipped the phone back into her oversized hoodie, tapping her foot against the concrete.

’Silas has never worn women’s clothing in his life,’ Evelyn thought with a slight smirk playing on her lips despite her impatience. ’He probably put the corset on backward. Should I have offered to help him get dressed? No, that would have been even weirder...’

She leaned back against the bench, letting her head rest against the wood as she stared up at the sky.

How long had it actually been since they met?

It felt like months, but it had only been a matter of a week or so since their brutal clash during the Lord War.

Evelyn had spent her entire life surrounded by sycophants, ruthless mercenary Lords, and her own demanding Brother.

She had maybe one or two real friends in the regular world, and both of them treated her with cautious fragile distance.

But Silas was different.

He didn’t treat her like a famous streamer, nor did he treat her like a broken woman who had lost an empire and was trying to get it back.

He traded insults with her, called her out on her unhealthy habits, gave her an entire residential place for her troops, and treated her like an equal partner.

Was it because he had beaten her so thoroughly in the Lord War? Was that why she felt so unnervingly comfortable around him?

A sudden strange warmth began to bloom in the dead center of her chest.

It was a tight suffocating sensation that made her breathing grow shallow.

It crept up into her neck, making her brain feel fuzzy and sending a subtle uncontrollable tremor through her fingers.

It was an unfamiliar intense emotional flare that completely bypassed her defenses.

It was...

It was...

’I WANT TO KICK THAT SMUG FUCKER STRAIGHT IN THE JAW!’
