Chapter 414: Skybli Hotel [Bonus - ]Chapter 414: Skybli Hotel [Bonus Chapter]
Evelyn forcefully kicked her boot into the empty air, gritting her teeth in frustration.
He was always making subtle mocking jokes about how she was an ’older woman’! She was twenty-two! Exactly twenty-two years old! She was barely four years older than him! Why did he talk to her like she was a retired grandmother sitting on a porch?!
’So what if I was thirty, huh?!’ she fumed internally, crossing her arms tightly. ’Would that make me obsolete?! I’m in my prime!’
She took a deep steadying breath, forcefully quelling her internal rant.
Ten minutes slowly ticked by... The afternoon sun began to cast long shadows across the pavement.
Evelyn clicked her tongue with her patience rapidly wearing thin.
The Skybli Hotel wasn’t even a fifteen-minute drive from the Silverleaf District where Silas lived, especially if he took a high-speed cab. What could possibly be taking him so long?
"Hey, Ev."
The voice was melodic, and carried a subtle husky undertone that made the air chill as Evelyn blinked, snapping her head upward.
Standing on the sidewalk directly in front of the bench was Kara White.
The disguise was perfection as usual.
Standing at approximately 5’7"... just a hair shorter than Evelyn herself, the woman looking down at her was undeniably breathtaking.
She possessed a striking aristocratically sculpted face, framed by silky raven-black hair that swayed gently in the night breeze.
Resting elegantly atop her head was a wide-brimmed designer black sunhat that cast a soft mysterious shadow over her eyes.
The black alchemical silk dress Evelyn had purchased hugged the woman’s slender frame flawlessly, tapering into a graceful flowing skirt that stopped just above a pair of sleek, matte-black heels.
A matching set of dark silk gloves concealed her hands, and beneath the veil of the hat, a pair of sharp mesmerizing purple eyes gleamed with vibrant intelligence.
Evelyn completely choked on her breath, her jaw parting slightly in shock.
’Holy shit...’ Evelyn thought, completely stunned by the visual transformation. ’He actually looks... gorgeous.’
"It took you forever to get here," Evelyn managed to rasp out, forcing her face into a deadpan scowl to mask the fact that she had just been caught staring.
Kara or rather, Silas operating within the seamless perception-disguise of Thora’s ring let out a soft feminine chuckle that carried a surprisingly natural cadence.
"Well, I had to find a secluded changing stall in the commercial district," Kara explained, adjusting the brim of her hat. "And on the walk over here, I had to dodge three different guys in tailored suits trying to ask for my contact handle. Apparently, I’m quite the catch."
Inside the core of the disguise, Silas was internally grinning from ear to ear.
’Damn... I really am a hot human being,’ Silas thought to himself in shameless satisfaction.
Back on Earth, he had been an exhausted unremarkable corporate wage-slave drowning in bills.
But now? When he was a man, high-ranking noble women threw millions of credits and supercars at his feet.
And when he threw on a dress and shifted his mana into a female persona, wealthy bachelors on the street practically tripped over themselves just to hold the door open for him.
It had to be in his spiritual genetics.
The Gold Core didn’t just multiply his physical combat stats; it clearly maxed out his charisma across every single gender spectrum. Who said a kid born in the Lower Ward slums couldn’t ball out on the world stage...?
Evelyn took one look at the smug radiant expression on Kara’s face and immediately knew exactly what the idiot was thinking.
"Don’t flatter yourself, Graves," Evelyn groaned, standing up from the wooden bench and tossing her dead cigarette butt straight into her Lord Inventory to avoid littering.
She reached out, grabbed Kara firmly by the silk-gloved hand, and forcefully began dragging the striking woman across the street toward the grand glass entrance of the Skybli Hotel.
"Come on, ’Miss White,’" Evelyn muttered dryly, pulling her hood down as they approached the revolving doors. "Let’s go set up your stream before someone tries to propose to you on the sidewalk."
...
The heavy crystal-paned revolving doors of the Skybli Hotel spun with a silent frictionless glide, admitting Evelyn and her striking companion into the cavernous opulence of the ground-floor grand atrium.
The transition from the cool twilight streets of Valoria City to the interior of the five-star establishment was immediate.
The air here was artificially chilled, lightly scented with distilled white lotus and expensive lavender terpenes, and hummed with the quiet continuous murmur of the elite.
Towering pillars carved from veined Calacatta marble stretched four stories high toward a magnificent glass dome, through which the darkening evening sky was visible, scattered with the first faint pinpricks of stars.
Polished obsidian floor tiles mirrored every step, so immaculately maintained that the reflections of the passing guests looked as sharp as physical twins walking beneath their heels.
Scattered throughout the sprawling lobby were dozens of patrons... corporate guild liaisons dressed in sharply tailored mana-silk suits, high-tier awakened lords lounging on plush velvet sectionals while reviewing live auction feeds on floating holographic tablets, and wealthy scions from the Upper Ward sipping champagne served by pristine alchemical automations.
And almost immediately, heads began to turn.
The visual contrast between the two newcomers was stark enough to command attention.
Evelyn looked like she had just rolled out of a cheap hostel and accidentally wandered into the wrong establishment... completely swallowed in her oversized, faded dark-gray hoodie, baggy cargo pants, and scuffed combat boots with her messy dark hair piled into a loose bun that defied all forms of brushwork.
But beside her stood a woman who looked like an untouchable aristocratic phantom. She was truly beautiful.
Despite her lowered head, there was an anomaly that no amount of designer fabric could entirely conceal.
Her left sleeve hung entirely flat, pinned elegantly against the side of her bodice with an ornate silver brocade.
The complete absence of a left arm was a glaring unmistakable hallmark of a seasoned, battle-scarred combatant or a catastrophic survivor of the Sovereign Realm.
Murmurs rippled across the nearest lounge area.
"Look at her... who is that?"
"Is that a high-ranking mercenary? Look at the gait... she isn’t even looking at the floor, but her balance is perfect."
"That silk is grade-four shadow weave. You can’t buy that in the Lower parts of the city but who walks around with an unregenerated limb these days? A high-tier restructuring elixir costs less than a million credits..."
Kara kept her chin slightly tucked, letting the broad brim of the hat do its job as she kept her gaze fixed on the marble floor.
Beside her, Evelyn’s hand remained firmly anchored around her silk-gloved right wrist, dragging her with aggressive unbothered strides past the staring onlookers straight toward the colossal semicircular reception desk that dominated the center of the atrium.
Behind the polished white-quartz counter stood three receptionists, each wearing immaculate gold-trimmed navy blazers and carrying the pristine, practiced smiles of high-end hospitality staff.
As Evelyn and Kara approached the central terminal, the lead receptionist... a meticulously groomed woman with her blonde hair twisted into a sharp French roll straightened her posture.
Her eyes flickered briefly over Evelyn’s oversized hoodie with a microscopic, professional twitch of her left brow, before landing on Kara’s striking figure, lingering for a fraction of a second on the pinned-up sleeve and the mesmerizing sliver of purple visible beneath the hat.
"Good evening, ladies. Welcome to the Grand Skybli," the receptionist greeted smoothly, her voice pitched in that warm melodic tone reserved for elite establishments. "How may we assist you today? Do you have an existing reservation, or are you inquiring about our overnight suites?"
Before Evelyn could even part her lips, the receptionist tapped a small runic glyph embedded in the quartz counter, bringing up a glowing promotional display that projected softly between them.
"If you are looking to book today, you have arrived at a truly fortuitous time," the woman continued with polished enthusiasm. "This week marks the Skybli’s Centenary Anniversary. In celebration of our founding, management is currently offering an exclusive twenty-five percent rate reduction for all premium penthouses and executive suites located on Floor Sixty and above. These rooms feature dedicated high-power mana-insulation arrays, private balcony drop-zones, and direct encrypted connections to the Upper Ward data-sphere. It is an extraordinary opportunity for discerning awakened guests..."
The receptionist paused, her hands clasped delicately over the counter as she waited for a response.
Evelyn, however, said nothing.
The former Lord of the Unmovable Wall simply stood there in her baggy clothes, her dark eyes half-lidded, looking thoroughly bored and exhausted as if the concept of an anniversary discount was entirely beneath her cognitive bandwidth.
She didn’t reach for her pockets, she didn’t open her mouth, and she didn’t even shift her weight.
Standing beside her, Silas locked within the stunning, feminine frame of Kara White felt a sudden prickle of irritation.
’She’s just standing there like a statue,’ Silas thought, his internal voice echoing within the disguise. ’The receptionist is looking at us like we’re broke squatters who can’t afford the lobby air. We’re supposed to look like high-tier operators, not lost tourists...’
Kara straightened her spine, pulling her hand gently from Evelyn’s grip.
She raised her slender, silk-gloved right hand toward the brim of her black sunhat, her fingers catching the edge of the velvet fabric.
"It won’t matter," Kara began, her voice dropping into a cool purr that commanded immediate attention, "because I’m—"
Before she could lift the hat to reveal her face or finish the sentence, Evelyn’s arm shot out like a striking viper.
THWACK!
Evelyn slapped her personal smartphone face-down onto the quartz counter directly in front of the receptionist’s nose with a loud authoritative sound.
The glass screen flared to life, projecting a brilliant platinum holographic verification card that hovered three inches above the quartz.
The digital seal bore the unmistakable, ultra-restricted crest of the Skybli’s Presidential Level, accompanied by a glowing confirmation code.
[Reservation Confirmed: Royal Suite - Floor 86]
[Guest: Corporate Black-Pass Holder]
[Status: Pre-Paid / Full Discretionary Clearance]
The blonde receptionist’s professional smile completely froze.
Her eyes widened in terror as her gaze darted between the platinum projection, Evelyn’s dirty hoodie, and Kara’s silent, elegant silhouette.
Floor Eighty-Six wasn’t just a high-floor suite; it was the one of the apexes of the building... a private floor-wide sanctuary reserved exclusively for guild masters.
"I—I—ah..." The receptionist’s practiced eloquence vanished into a series of panicked, high-pitched stutters.
Her hands began to visibly tremble as she frantically tapped the console to process the bypass keys. "M-my deepest apologies, Madam! Floor Eighty-Six... the Imperial Wing! We... we were not informed that the Black-Pass delegation would be arriving without an advance security escort!"
She hurriedly reached into the low-tier security safe beneath the counter, withdrawing two sleek, dark-crystal keycards edged in polished gold leaf.
"Your... your private master keycards, Ma’am!" the woman squeaked, bowing her head so low her nose nearly touched the quartz as she presented the cards with both hands. "Express Elevator Seven on the north wall has been locked exclusively to your frequency! Floor Eighty-Six is fully prepared, purged of all residual mana signatures, and stocked to your profile’s default preferences! Please, if there is anything... anything at all... the management can provide, simply touch the gold rune on the terminal!"
Evelyn didn’t offer a single polite word.
She snatched both crystal keycards from the woman’s shaking hands with a single fluid swipe, pocketed one, and grabbed Kara’s wrist once more.
"Let’s go," Evelyn grunted.
She dragged the one-armed woman away from the desk, leaving the receptionist clutching her chest and gasping for air as if she had just narrowly dodged an executioner’s blade.
Evelyn marched with aggressive strides toward the private elevator bank tucked behind a pair of towering white-marble arches.
She slammed the gold-edged crystal card against the sensor plate of Express Elevator Seven.
A soft chime resonated through the stone, the heavy gilded doors sliding open instantly to reveal an expansive mirror-lined luxury cabin fitted with velvet seating and a crystal chandelier.
The two of them stepped inside. Evelyn tapped the sensor for Floor 86, and the heavy doors slid shut, cutting off the low hum of the lobby entirely.
The moment the magnetic lift engaged, surging smoothly upward with terrifying acceleration, Evelyn spun around.
She grabbed Kara by the shoulder, shoving the woman lightly against the mirrored wall, her dark eyes blazing with exasperated fury beneath her messy dark bangs.
"The hell were you about to do back there?!" Evelyn hissed, her voice cracking with raw irritation. "Were you seriously about to take off the hat?!"
Kara blinked, adjusting the brim that had tilted slightly during the shove. A small unbothered smirk played on her sculpted lips.
"I was about to show off," Kara replied smoothly, tilting her head with effortless grace. "The lady was talking down to us like we couldn’t afford a room above Floor Sixty. I was going to give her a little shock value."
