Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream
Chapter 340: Your extra limbWhen Veronica and Kyle reached the rooftop, a heavy concentration of Absence had already begun permeating the air.
Veronica immediately went on high alert. The space before them was visibly distorting, twisting in a way that left little room for doubt. A rift was about to form, and judging by the intensity of the disturbance, it was going to be a high-grade one.
"We need to evacuate the building. I am calling for backup," Veronica said, glancing at Kyle as though expecting him to object. He did not.
She immediately contacted the base. "Send backup to Grapevine Paradise. A rift has appeared, and we need people here to evacuate everyone."
She ended the call abruptly when two monsters suddenly leapt through the opening, emerging before the rift had even fully materialized.
"Majins," Veronica breathed.
Her body tensed, ready to lunge forward and eliminate them as swiftly as possible. They needed to conserve as much time and energy as they could before the true threat emerged from the rift.
However, Kyle stopped her.
"Don’t worry. You just need to stand there and watch."
Before Veronica could respond, Kyle had already drawn the dagger from her belt and settled into a fighting stance.
Her brows rose when she saw golden energy begin coating the blade, its radiance clinging to the metal like a living substance.
"Is that... Genesis?"
Kyle nodded. "It is. The most lethal poison for them."
The moment the words left his mouth, he burst forward, vanishing from where he stood.
Kyle was running low on Genesis, which was precisely why he had no intention of wasting it on Aquilla or his magical abilities. Besides, he needed to become accustomed to his new stats as quickly as possible.
And what better way to test them than against a pair of Majins?
Shlink.
The Majin’s claws raked toward Kyle’s throat, moving with enough speed to tear through an ordinary person’s defenses before they could even react.
But Kyle had already seen it coming.
God’s Eyes revealed the trajectory to him with absolute clarity. He lowered his body at the precise moment the claws passed overhead, then slid beneath the Majin’s attack, his dagger grazing across its body as he went. A thin trail of golden energy was left in his wake.
A moment later, the Majin split cleanly in two.
Its body convulsed before rapidly burning away, disintegrating into fragments that faded into nothingness.
’What the...’
Veronica’s eyes widened.
She had seen the entire exchange, yet following Kyle’s movements had been almost impossible. She could see him dodge the attack, but his hand had moved so quickly that her eyes struggled to keep track of the dagger.
Before she could process what she had witnessed, the second Majin charged.
Then two more emerged from the rift.
Three monsters with vastly different physiques lunged at Kyle from three separate directions, their attacks converging on him simultaneously.
Kyle’s eyes shifted left, then right, before settling on the Majin approaching from the front.
That one was going to reach him first.
He took a single step backward.
Swish.
The claws passed through the space where his body had been a moment earlier.
His gaze shifted to the left.
A simple tilt of his head was enough.
SLASH.
The Majin’s blade-like arm sliced through nothing but empty air.
Then came the one on his right.
Kyle raised his arm.
Thud.
The Majin’s hammer-like limb crashed against his forearm, but Kyle absorbed the impact without giving ground. His dagger immediately drove forward, plunging straight into the monster’s chest.
The Majin let out a shrill cry of pain.
Before its body could even hit the ground, it had already begun to fade away, its form dissolving under the effect of Genesis.
Kyle turned toward the remaining two.
They were already coming at him with their second attacks.
He didn’t bother tracking every movement this time. He simply identified the narrow opening between their attacks and exploited it.
SQUELCH.
STAB.
A moment later, Kyle stood behind them.
His dagger still glowed with golden energy as the two remaining Majins staggered before rapidly vanishing from existence.
Veronica could only stare at him.
There was nothing but awe in her eyes.
What the hell were those movements?
Every motion had been so efficient that it almost felt unreal, as though she were watching a scene from a movie where the protagonist established his dominance within the very first few minutes.
Kyle glanced toward her.
"Genesis is just an extra limb, but your mind is its limit. Once you start pushing past that limit..."
He raised his arm and thrust the dagger forward.
The golden energy coating its blade suddenly stretched outward, extending like a spear before piercing straight through another Majin that had just emerged from the rift.
The monster didn’t even have time to react before its body collapsed into nothingness.
While Veronica watched the creature disappear, Kyle calmly finished his thought.
"...Genesis would become your favorite tool."
Veronica nodded in understanding.
Even so, she could hardly believe that merely watching or listening to Kyle’s explanation would allow her to replicate what she had just witnessed.
Just then, Kyle received a notification.
[Devourer has absorbed the life essence of the creatures.]
[+5 Soul Points.]
Kyle exhaled a sigh.
Quite disappointing.
Then again, Majins were more or less foot soldiers in their armies. They were hardly worth anything in his eyes, yet they had still given him something. He supposed he should be grateful.
Still, if this was all he could gain from them, there was little point in wasting time.
"It’s time to farm in heavier quantities."
He muttered the words under his breath as he watched four Ghouls force their way out of the rift.
