Stripping For My Devil Ex Husband

Chapter 116: The Devil’s Life Is In Danger

A sleek, unmarked luxury yacht sliced silently through the black waters just beyond the harbor grid.

In the dim amber glow of the private stateroom, Dante Sullivan stood by the panoramic glass, swirling amber liquor in a heavy crystal tumbler.

On the leather sofa behind him, Vivian Stark collapsed in a shivering, blood-drenched heap. The tailored ivory coat she had worn so arrogantly was ripped to shreds, her shoulder wound freshly cauterized by Dante’s on-board physician.

She was shaking, pale, and completely unraveled by the sheer lethal aura radiating off the syndicate boss.

Dante tapped the tactical comms unit resting on the mahogany desk, repeating the line into the dead silence... Checking if anyone was left to respond from his team.

"Report. Is Vivian Stark secured? Did you capture Anastasia alive? Are Damian Sterling and Clara Reed neutralized?"

A burst of harsh, crackling static hissed through the speaker.

Then, a voice cut in... cold, low, and stripped of every ounce of human mercy.

"Your hit team is dead," Jullian Montgomery’s tone bled through the receiver, venomous and sharp as a scalpel. "Damian is still breathing. And whatever hole you’re hiding in, you better make peace with whatever god you pray to... because I’m going to tear this city apart until I put a bullet between your eyes."

Click.

The line went dead.

Dante didn’t flinch. A slow, thin smirk carved across his austere, shadowed features. He set the radio down, taking a measured sip of his scotch.

Vivian lifted her trembling, tear-streaked face from the cushions. "Dante... he’s going to kill me. Damian survived... he’s going to burn everything..."

"Quiet," Dante commanded, not even bothering to look at her.

Dante gazed out into the dark harbor skyline. Vivian’s hysterical scheme had failed, but it had yielded something infinitely more valuable... the undeniable truth.

Damian Sterling, the untouchable, calculating beast of the business world, had literally thrown his own body into the path of high-caliber rifle fire to protect a woman. He was willing to die before letting another man’s hands touch her.

Taking Anastasia Vance by brute force while Damian stood guard was impossible... it would only result in a bloodbath on both sides.

If Damian Sterling is her iron fortress, Dante mused coldly, swirling his glass, then I wouldn’t break the walls down. I wait until she steps out of them herself. I take her right from under his nose, and he won’t even realize she’s gone until it’s too late.

Ten miles away, the sirens of the armored tactical medical rig tore through the storm-swept city streets at breakneck speed.

Inside the rear cabin, red emergency lights strobed against walls coated in blood.

"V-fib! We have ventricular fibrillation!" the lead trauma paramedic screamed, his voice strained with rising panic as the heart monitor flatlined into a continuous, deafening whine. "Charge paddles to two hundred! Clear!"

Thump. Damian’s heavy, muscular chest vaulted off the stretcher as the shock ripped through his heart, his head rolling back, dark hair matted with cold sweat and blood.

Anastasia was kneeling in the narrow aisle, her dark eyes wide and dilated with sheer, paralyzing horror.

Both of her hands were buried hard against Damian’s shattered back, desperately applying trauma gauze, but the crimson flow was relentless.

It soaked through her fingers, coated her sleeves, and pooled on the steel floor beneath her knees. The sharp, iron reek of his blood filled her throat, suffocating her.

Her mind was a war zone.

Vivian’s poisonous words still echoed in her ears like shattered glass... He knew every lie... he enjoyed watching you suffer...

Yet right in front of her lay the brutal, undeniable reality... Damian was dying because he had thrown himself over her without a second of hesitation. He had taken two hollow-point rounds meant to rip her spine apart.

"Damian, no... don’t you dare," Ana choked out, her voice breaking into a ragged, desperate sob.

Hot tears spilled over her bruised, bleeding cheek, splashing onto his cold skin as she leaned over him, pressing down with all the strength left in her trembling arms.

"Don’t you dare die like this! Look at me, Damian! Look at me!"

"No pulse! Charge to three hundred!" the paramedic yelled, grabbing the paddles again. "Clear!"

The monitor wailed. The rig slammed around a tight corner, tires screaming against the wet asphalt as the private trauma bay doors rushed into view through the rain-splattered windshield.

The armored medical rig slammed to a halt under the high-security awning of St. Jude’s private surgical wing.

The rear doors flew open with a violent metallic bang. A dozen trauma surgeons and nurses in blue scrubs swarmed the vehicle, their gloved hands instantly taking over CPR as they transferred Damian’s lifeless, blood-soaked body onto a gurney.

"Massive hemothorax! The right lung has collapsed! Prep OR 1 for emergency thoracotomy right now!" The chief surgeon shouted over the blaring monitors, rushing the gurney through the sliding double doors.

Anastasia stumbled out of the rig behind them. Her clothes, her hands, and the bruised curve of her face were entirely covered in Damian’s crimson blood.

Her knees buckled under the weight of sheer shock, but Walter caught her arm, keeping her on her feet.

"Ms. Vance, we need to get you examined..."

"No," Ana gasped, her voice hoarse, her dark eyes fixed on the red trail of surgical wheels disappearing down the corridor. "Don’t touch me. Save him. Just save him."

Behind them, the second ambulance screeching into the bay threw the wing into further chaos.

Jullian stormed into the ER reception, his coat wrapped tightly around Clara’s shivering, bruised frame. Her lips were blue, her breathing shallow and raspy from cracked ribs and internal bruising.

"Get a surgical team out here right now!" Jullian roared, his voice booming with a ferocious authority that made the intake staff scramble. "She’s bleeding internally, her oxygen levels are plummeting... move!"

The head ER nurse rushed forward with a clipboard, blocking the gurney. "Sir, protocol requires immediate next-of-kin authorization for critical exploratory surgery. She has severe abdominal trauma and head lacerations... we cannot administer emergency anesthesia or open her without direct family consent or a legal spouse’s signature!"

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?!" Jullian snarls, his eyes blazing with murderous fury as he stepped into the nurse’s face, towering over him like a storm. "She was chained in a freezing basement and beaten by syndicate operatives! She doesn’t have thirty minutes for you to track down family records! Take her into the OR or I will tear this hospital down brick by brick!"

"Sir, hospital regulations...if there’s no immediate family or legal guardian present..."

"Give me the damn pen!" Jullian snapped, snatching the clipboard and the pen from the nurse’s hand with lethal force.

He flipped the intake sheet straight to the emergency legal proxy section. With hard, violent strokes, Jullian scribbled his name, checking the box marked Fiancé / Primary Emergency Contact and forging the authorization without a split second of hesitation.

"Sir, falsifying a legal relationship on medical consent is a felony..." the intake admin stammered, looking between Jullian and the paperwork.

"He’s not lying," a clear, cold voice cut through the sterile air.

The staff turned.

Anastasia stepped forward, her face bruised, blood dripping from her split cheek, her dark eyes unblinking and deadly steady.

"I am Anastasia Sterling," Ana stated with absolute, unyielding composure, commanding the room with the sheer weight of the Sterling name. "I am the witness. They are officially engaged. If you delay her surgery by another second, I will ensure every single one of your medical licenses is revoked by morning. Take her into the operating room now."

The ER staff didn’t dare utter another word. The nurses immediately unlocked the gurney brakes, wheeling Clara at a dead sprint toward the secondary surgical suite.

As Clara disappeared behind the heavy swinging doors, the adrenaline slowly drained from the hallway, leaving only the suffocating, heavy silence of the surgical floor.

Jullian stood in the center of the corridor, his tailored shirt ripped, his hands trembling with residual rage and raw terror. He turned slowly toward Anastasia.

Ana was leaning against the cold white wall, staring down at her own blood-stained hands.

The hallway was quiet, save for the distant, ominous hum of the life support machines fighting for Damian’s life in the next room... and the poisonous truth Vivian had planted, burning like acid in Ana’s chest.
