Stripping For My Devil Ex Husband

Chapter 125: The Devil Needs Help

The heat between them flared out of control in an instant.

Damian’s hand wound deeper into the silk of her dark hair, his grip unrelenting as he pulled her mouth harder against his. For months... ever since the cold wall of the contract was raised between them... he had starved for this unfiltered surrender. And to Ana’s dizzying shock, her own body betrayed her with a desperate, aching familiarity.

She had missed this. She had missed the intoxicating weight of his presence, the dangerous warmth of his hands, and the reckless fire he could ignite with a single touch.

When they finally broke apart for air, both of their chests were heaving, their breaths mingling in ragged, shallow gasps.

Damian’s dark eyes burned down into hers with an unvarnished, predatory hunger. Without giving her a second to recover, he surged upward, crashing his lips back onto hers in a bruising, hungry kiss that sent sparks flying behind her eyelids.

The heavy mahogany door swung open without warning.

"Good morning, lovebirds! I brought the morning tea... oh shit!"

Valerie froze mid-step in the doorway, a porcelain tray wobbling dangerously in her hands as her jaw hit the floor.

Right behind her, Victoria’s sharp, aristocratic voice rang out. "Valerie, how many times must I remind you that entering a room without knocking is entirely mannerless..."

Victoria stepped around her daughter, and the words died in her throat with an audible, undignified gasp.

Her manicured hand flew to her collarbone as she took in the sight of Anastasia practically straddling her injured son on the rumpled bed.

"Good heavens," Victoria muttered, clearing her throat with hurried composure. "You two certainly need to... cool yourselves down."

Ana scrambled backward off the mattress like she had been struck by lightning, nearly tripping over the edge of the dark sheets. Her face burned a scalding, violent crimson, her hands flying to smooth down her hopelessly disheveled sweater and wild hair.

Damian didn’t scramble. He merely fell back against the pillows, exhaling a long, irritated sigh and pinching the bridge of his nose as he closed his eyes.

"This is exactly why I prefer living alone," he muttered in a low, gravelly grumble.

Valerie quickly set the trembling tea tray onto the credenza by the entrance, pressing her lips together in a desperate attempt not to burst out laughing.

Victoria smoothed her tailored lapels, though a very uncharacteristic tint of pink stained the matriarch’s cheekbones. She stepped further inside, casting a strict, pointed glare at both of them.

"I am neither a prude nor blind to the realities of a marriage, Damian," Victoria began, her voice a mix of maternal authority and awkward restraint. "However, the physician explicitly stated you have severe spinal trauma and fresh surgical sutures. I must insist that you both refrain from... strenuous activities until the doctor clears you."

Victoria paused, her sharp gaze softening as she looked between her son’s relaxed posture and Anastasia’s flushed, glowing face.

"Though," Victoria added, a subtle, approving smile touching her lips, "I must admit it brings me immense relief to see your relationship firmly back on track. It is far better than the cold, distant state you two were in before the incident."

The room settled into a quiet, dignified pause.

Anastasia stood beside the bed, her heart still thudding wildly against her ribs, her gaze quietly drifting toward the man lying against the pillows.

Damian’s obsidian eyes slid toward her... dark, possessive, and harboring dangerous, unsaid truths that only they shared.

Has it been better though? Ana thought, a sudden, bittersweet knot tightening in her chest.

To Victoria, they were a reconciled husband and wife finding their way back to love. But beneath the surface lay a hundred-million-dollar transaction, an unbreakable legal cage, and a lethal syndicate hunting her bloodline.

Every kiss, every touch was wrapped in secrets... and Ana wasn’t sure if they were growing closer, or simply falling deeper into the fire together.

Once Victoria and a giggling Valerie finally cleared the room, the heavy mahogany doors clicked shut behind them.

Walter stepped in a minute later, holding Ana’s phone. The device had been wiped of the spyware, fitted with military-grade encryption, and linked to the Sterling security grid.

"Your device, Anastasia," Walter said evenly, handing it back with a subtle, knowing glance that reminded her of their deal. "It’s clean."

Ana took the phone, immediately retreating to the adjacent sitting room to dial Clara. The line connected on the second ring.

"Ana! Oh thank God," Clara’s voice erupted through the receiver, though it was quickly followed by an irritated hiss aimed at someone in her room. "Jullian, get your hands off the IV pole, I can hold my own cup!"

A faint smile broke through Ana’s stress. "How are you holding up, Clara? Did the doctor clear the swelling?"

"I’m alive, but I might die of sheer annoyance," Clara groaned loudly. "Jullian has stationed three armed guards outside my door and refuses to leave the room. He’s hovering like an overbearing drill sergeant, acting like we’re already married. He literally checked the temperature of my broth before letting the nurse hand it to me. The man is completely insane."

Ana let out a soft laugh, but her gaze drifted through the archway toward the master bed, where Damian was sitting up against the pillows, adjusting his sling with a grimace.

Hearing Clara complain about Jullian’s domineering, suffocating protectiveness struck an uncomfortably familiar chord.

Men like Jullian and Damian operated in the same ruthless currency... they didn’t ask for permission to guard what they considered theirs; they simply built an iron fortress around it.

"Just let him take care of you for once, Clara," Ana said softly, a trace of melancholy in her tone. "Sometimes... that terrifying control is the only way they know how to keep us breathing."

"Wait, are you defending him? Who are you and what have you done to Anastasia?" Clara teased, though her voice softened with genuine concern. "How is Damian doing?"

"He’s awake. The fever broke," Ana replied quietly, her eyes locking onto Damian’s silhouette through the open archway. "He’s still a tyrant, but he’s alive."

After promising to visit once Clara was discharged, Ana ended the call and proceeded to walk back into the bedroom.

Walter was already standing at the foot of the bed, a sleek, encrypted tablet in hand, his demeanor razor-sharp.

"The forensic breakdown is finished, Boss," Walter reported, swiping through the digital logs. "The IP that sent the hostage video didn’t originate from Vivian Stark’s personal network. It was routed through a zero-trace Zurich proxy directly owned by a shell corporation under the Sullivan Syndicate."

Damian didn’t look surprised. His obsidian eyes darkened, his sharp jaw hardening into carved granite as he stared at the data.

"I had a feeling Dante Sullivan was the puppet master pulling her strings," Damian said, his voice cold and lethal. "Vivian was merely the bait to lure Anastasia out of Northwood’s grid."

Walter looked up from the screen. "Vivian managed to board a chartered jet two hours ago heading toward an offshore sanctuary. Should I mobilize the extraction team to intercept her landing?"

"No," Damian answered, his baritone dropping into a grim, calculating register. "Vivian is a pawn. The real target is Dante. But taking on the Sullivan Syndicate across international borders isn’t something we can crush with brute corporate force alone."

Damian shifted his shoulders slightly, the tightness of his surgical dressings reminding him of his current physical limits. His dark eyes flicked upward to Walter, lethal and dead serious.

"Dante has spent years weaponizing European underworld channels. To dismantle him completely... it’s not possible on our own. We’re going to need help."
