Stripping For My Devil Ex Husband
Chapter 126: Playing Nurse With The Devil (R18+)Once Walter stepped out of the master suite to coordinate with the security detail, the vast, sunlit bedroom fell into a heavy, quiet stillness.
Anastasia filled a porcelain basin with warm, fresh water and set it on the nightstand beside a stack of clean linen towels. Damian was sitting against the propped pillows, his broad frame tense, his breathing measured as the post-fever exhaustion weighed on his muscles.
"You need to be cleaned up," Ana said softly, keeping her tone practical to steady the sudden flutter in her chest. "The fever left you soaked, and the doctor said your dressings need to stay dry."
Damian didn’t argue. His obsidian eyes simply followed her every move with quiet intensity as she wrung out the warm cloth.
She began at his collarbones, her touch feather-light as she traced the sculpted lines of his chest and ribs, carefully skirting the edges of the sterile white bandages on his shoulder.
Ever since he had dragged her back under his roof months ago, she had seen his body laid bare countless times... in the dark, driven by his arrogant demands for her submission, wrapped in ruthless heat and overwhelming passion.
This, however, was fundamentally different.
There was no force here. No cold posturing. No arrogant dominance. It was an unfiltered, quiet vulnerability that stripped away all the armor of the untouchable corporate devil.
Ana dipped the cloth back into the basin, her hands trembling slightly as she reached for the drawstring of his dark loungewear trousers.
"I need to clean your thighs and hips," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Damian didn’t speak. He slightly relaxed his posture against the mattress, allowing her to slide the soft fabric down past his hips and thighs. As the material shifted, a faint, sharp hiss escaped his clenched teeth, a sudden wince tightening his sharp jawline from the pull on his lower back stitches.
"Sorry," Ana gasped softly, her instincts instantly taking over. "I’m sorry... I’ll be gentler."
With absolute, delicate precision, she smoothed the warm, damp cloth along the hard contours of his thighs and lower abdomen, her movements agonizingly careful not to jostle his injured frame. Her fingers brushed against the burning warmth of his skin, and a suffocating, intoxicating heat bloomed in the air between them.
She wasn’t touching him as a subservient captive under an unbreakable contract. She was tending to the man who had secretly given up a fortune to buy her freedom from monsters, the man who had taken high-caliber bullets to his spine just to bring her home alive.
Her dark eyes, soft with an unshielded tenderness she had spent months suppressing, lingered on the curve of his waist.
Damian stared down at her. His obsidian gaze narrowed, instantly catching the profound softening in her eyes, the sheer gentleness in every careful stroke of her fingertips.
To a man who only knew her fiery defiance, sharp glares, and bitter resistance, this sudden tenderness was deeply affecting... and immediately suspicious.
A low, gravelly baritone broke the silence.
"What is going on in that head of yours, Anastasia?" Damian asked, his hooded eyes searching her face with dark, calculating scrutiny. "Where did my fiery little slave go? Why are you being so gentle with me?"
Ana didn’t shrink under his scrutiny. Instead, she lifted her chin, a subtle, daring glimmer sparking in her dark eyes. Leaning just an inch closer, she let her warm palm rest deliberately against the hard plane of his bare hip.
"Are you complaining, Mr. Sterling?"
She murmured, her voice smooth and provocatively light.
"If you prefer me biting your head off, I can always press a little harder on those lower back stitches. Or would you rather admit that you actually like me touching you without fighting back?"
A low, gravelly vibration rumbled in Damian’s chest. The suspicion in his obsidian gaze fractured, swallowed whole by a sudden, intense flare of raw heat.
"I’m certainly not complaining," Damian rasped, his voice thick with a dark, unvarnished edge. "Your touch is doing far more than soothing my wounds, little bird. It’s setting every nerve in my body on fire."
Ana’s gaze dipped, and the breath caught in her throat.
Resting heavy and semi-hard against his sculpted abdomen, his arousal was undeniable... stirred awake merely by the delicate drag of her fingertips against his skin.
Damian’s dark eyes locked onto her flushed face, a slow, wicked intensity curving his lips. "So if you’re going to play the devoted nurse, Anastasia... you’d better take extra gentle care of me down there."
Ana’s heart hammered a frantic rhythm against her ribs. Swallowing hard, she folded the warm, damp cloth, her hands steadying with a sudden, intoxicating wave of boldness.
Leaning over him, she wrapped the soft linen gently around his length, beginning a slow, deliberate glide from the base to the crown.
A sharp, ragged hiss tore from Damian’s clenched teeth, his head falling back against the propped pillows as the sheer contrast of the warm cloth and her delicate, careful pressure sent a violent shiver through his massive frame.
Hearing that raw sound of surrender from the untouchable billionaire gave Ana a potent, dizzying surge of power. She didn’t pull away.
Letting her instincts take over, she picked up the rhythm, stroking the warm cloth in continuous, upward sweeps, her free hand resting firmly against his taut, quivering thigh to anchor him.
Damian’s hands fisted into the linen sheets, his knuckles turning white as his breath hitched into shallow, broken pants. "Ana... damn it..."
She kept her gaze fixed on him, completely captivated by the sight of him losing control beneath her hands.
With a few more firm, deliberate strokes, Damian’s hips arched slightly off the mattress with a deep, guttural groan, hot ropes of release spilling onto the cloth and across her trembling fingers.
The room fell into heavy, breathless silence, filled only by Damian’s ragged, uneven panting as he fought to steady his racing pulse.
Ana sat back on her heels, her chest heaving softly, her cheeks burning a deep, radiant crimson. Her dark eyes were clouded with an unfiltered, lingering desire she could no longer deny.
Slowly, Damian opened his heavy lids. His obsidian eyes, dark and gleaming with triumphant satisfaction, tracked her flushed expression before a slow, devilish smile curved his lips.
"Not bad, doll," he murmured, his voice laced with dark, possessive amusement. "It seems like something in you really did change."
Ana lowered her gaze, tossing the soiled linen into the porcelain basin to buy herself a heartbeat to recover. Her hands were still trembling, the warmth of his skin lingering like an invisible brand on her palms.
"Don’t flatter yourself, Damian," she murmured, keeping her back turned as she wiped her fingers with a clean towel, though her voice lacked its usual icy bite. "I simply finished the job."
Damian didn’t answer right away. From the pillows, his heavy, possessive gaze remained fixed on the delicate line of her spine, watching the slight rise and fall of her shoulders.
The arrogance was still there in his half-lidded eyes, but beneath it lay a quiet, dangerous hunger that had only grown sharper with her touch.
"Come here," he commanded softly, the rough rasp of his voice filling the warm stillness of the room.
Ana hesitated, then slowly turned and walked back to the edge of the mattress. She pulled the linen sheet up over his waist, tucking it in with careful, deliberate motions to avoid meeting his eyes.
Before she could step away, Damian’s large hand reached out and caught her wrist.
He didn’t pull hard enough to hurt, but his grip was unyielding... anchoring her firmly in his space. His dark eyes searched her flushed face, peeling back every defense until she had no choice but to look straight into the bottomless obsidian depth of his gaze.
"You can lie to yourself all you want, Anastasia," he murmured, his thumb brushing a slow, deliberate circle against the inside of her pulse point. "But you’re not running anymore."
A soft, breathless silence settled between them, heavy with secrets neither had spoken aloud.
Ana didn’t pull her hand away.
She simply stood there, listening to the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat under the golden morning light, knowing that whatever war was waiting beyond the gates of Northwood, the walls between them had already begun to burn.
