Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1027: Silhouettes

Intense infernos, warping space, distorting time. These were the things Kyle saw when he found a Law Well for Spacetime Fire. He had been traveling for a while, and finally, he found one.

On his journey, he had been involved in fewer than five battles. Due to the gulf in power, the Sage Demons didn't even look at the pillar. To them, the pillar was like a mere ant. This had made the journey quite easy, albeit boring.

When Kyle saw the Law Well, he realized that it was a bit different from the weaker ones. For example, the Demons weren't just sitting there to look at the Law. Instead, they were fighting for their lives. They were not fighting each other, but the Elements themselves.

The Law Well for Spacetime Fire was far more violent and aggressive than the weaker Law Wells. In fact, its aggression seemed almost unnatural. Law Wells were always somewhat dangerous, but this one seemed to actively attack any living thing that dared to get close to it.

Kyle watched as the flames took on the different appearances of life. Space and time warped as the flames assumed the appearance of a human with a sword. This silhouette charged forward, attacking one of the Peak Sage Demons.

The Peak Sage Demon blocked the attack and destroyed the silhouette, but that was not the end. The silhouette exploded, bathing the Peak Sage Demon in intense Spacetime Fire. Biological Energy was reduced to a minimum, and the Peak Sage Demon retreated.

In a different location, the silhouette of another Demon appeared, which entered a fight with a Late Sage Demon. This time, the Demon won convincingly, and after the silhouette exploded, the Elemental Energies around the Demon calmed down. Moments later, the Demon consumed the Elemental Energy.

Demons were not Elementals, which meant they couldn't absorb Elemental Energies in the same way as Elementals. Yet, one should never forget that Demons were beasts, and the maw of beasts could break down almost everything.

When an Elemental consumed Elemental Energies, the Elemental Energies washed over their entire existence, seamlessly integrating into their greater being. When a Demon consumed Elemental Energies, their maws turned it into Neutral Energy before digesting said Neutral Energy. Consuming Elemental Energies like this still helped with comprehension, but not as much.

As Kyle watched, he quickly realized how this Law Well worked. 'As expected, things are different. These Law Wells are natural, but they do not act like normal Law Wells. In fact, this Law Well seems to be under the control of another Demon.'

'The Spacetime Fire transforms into realistic opponents, and only if you can win against these opponents can you feel the Spacetime Fire without opposition.'

Kyle scanned through the surroundings with his Energy Sense. 'The Energy Sense of powerful Demons can't compare to the Energy Sense of humans. Beasts have a stronger body than humans, but everything else is weaker. Divine Beasts also have a lot of Energy in their Beast Cores, which might even surpass the Energy inside a human's Center. However, their minds and Souls are weaker since they do not have Spirits.'

'As far as I know, an Ascendant Demon can only sense the surrounding 100 million kilometers, while a Spirit Lord Demon can only sense the surrounding one million kilometers. Humanity said the Level Five Law Wells have Ascendant Demons protecting them, but I can't find any.'

'I can sense the surrounding eight million kilometers. If there were an Ascendant Demon close to this Law Well, I'm sure I would be able to feel it. That means there is not one Ascendant Demon per Level Five Law Well but several Level Five Law Wells for every Ascendant Demon.'

Kyle looked at the Law Well. 'Demons can't easily influence their surroundings since they don't have Spirits, but they are still influencing this Law Well. If my suspicion is correct...'

Kyle focused on the movement of Energy throughout the Law Well, and moments later, he found something.

'Energy fluctuations of Formation Arrays,' he thought. 'Sure enough, there's a Formation Array. Most likely, this Formation Array controls one or more Law Wells. The Ascendant Demon is probably at the center of this Formation Array, keeping it running and defending it.'

'As far as I can see, gaining access to the Law Well is less about competing with other Demons but competing with the standards set by the Formation Array. That means I have a shot! If the Formation Array only judges Battle-Strength, it shouldn't be difficult for me to gain access to it.'

The pillar approached the Law Well. Thousands of Sage Demons were battling the silhouettes in the flames, but the Law Well was big enough to accommodate all of them.

As the pillar got closer, the concepts of space and time distorted. One second was two seconds in one moment, and in the next, one second was half of a second. Meters turned into kilometers before turning into millimeters. The only thing that was stable was the increasing temperature. The closer the pillar got, the hotter it became.

When the pillar reached the edges of the Law Well, it started receiving burns. Just the ambient temperature was enough to hurt it. Technically, since the pillar was an Elemental, it could just consume the Fire Energy, but that would most likely alert the Ascendant Demon.

Well, it could consume some of the Fire Energy with its maw, like a normal Demon, but that also wouldn't work. Without proving oneself to the Formation Array, the Elemental Energies remained aggressive. They didn't exactly have a will on them, but they were very volatile. Consuming them in this state would cause more harm than good.

The pillar continued, and finally, it entered the Law Well's domain. The ambient temperature caused continuous burns, but the pillar still recovered a bit more Biological Energy than it was using.

Then, the pillar stopped moving. If it kept going, the fragile balance of regeneration and degeneration would be broken. At most, it could stay on the edges of the Law Well.

Kyle could already feel the presence of the Spacetime Fire. Sadly, the sensation wasn't clear since he was only near the edges. Getting a clearer image would require him to move the pillar closer, but the pillar wouldn't survive that.

'The ambient temperature isn't reducing. To Sage Demons, that's not an issue, but it's a huge issue for the pillar. I've already infused its body with a Level 5.5 Law, but that's still not enough. The gulf between Realms is simply too vast.'

Kyle analyzed the flow of Energy around him. 'The Energy is still aggressive and unnatural. Comprehending it in this state might lead me to incorrect conclusions. I have to wait for a silhouette to spawn.'

For a couple of seconds, nothing seemed to change, but then, the silhouette of a human appeared a couple of kilometers away from the pillar.

When Kyle saw that silhouette, his eyes widened in horror.

'Late Sage!'
