Black rushed towards the Overseer, readying his hammer.
Finally!
He had won!
Finally, he could kill her!
She had taken so much from him, and finally, he could pay everything back!
The Overseer knew that she couldn't get out of his situation with her power.
Memories of her long time as Overseer shot through her mind, and she realized how similar her current situation was.
There was no way out.
She simply couldn't get out.
"RAAAAAH!" Black screamed as his hammer moved towards the Overseer with unrelenting hatred and aggression.
Space warped.
Black's eyes widened.
The hammer slowed.
Swamp Dragon's words echoed through the Overseer's mind.
"As long as you use your soft power, you will get out of this world."
Black's hammer stopped...
Right in front of Sebastian's and Melanie's faces, who looked at the hammer in horror.
The Overseer had used her privilege as Overseer to look at the world. Then, she had used her Domain to control the Primordial Forces and teleported the two of them to her.
She had stopped the strike and survived, and she had accomplished this by doing the one thing she could have done to get out of this world.
Trust in someone else.
She didn't believe that Kyle's unending hatred could be stopped by simply using his friend, but she had decided to believe Swamp Dragon's words. Maybe soft power could surpass true power in some circumstances.
"You coward!" Black shouted, the world around him shaking.
Sebastian knew that the Overseer and Kyle were fighting. The sheer amount of chaos in Ayuvar's Energy flow was impossible to miss. Something like this could only happen when two Immortals fought.
He hadn't thought that he would get pulled into this battle, but he had still been prepared for it.
And now, this hypothetical scenario had become reality.
Sebastian had already planned his actions. He had been involved in the original Kyle's death, and he didn't want to get in his way again.
"Kyle..." Sebastian said, but his voice was caught in his throat.
He wanted to say it.
Ignore me.
Kill her.
But when he saw the love of his life, Melanie, he just couldn't say it.
He didn't want to die, but he didn't want Melanie to die even more.
Faced with the tangible possibility of returning to nothingness, Sebastian's plans fell apart.
He didn't want to die. He didn't want Melanie to die.
Kyle wasn't sure if he had ever felt this frustrated. The Overseer's life was in his hands. He could kill her!
Yet, to do so, he had to kill the last person in his life who had any kind of meaningful connection with him.
He could have his revenge. He could have his payback. Killing Sebastian wouldn't even be that bad. After all, Sebastian had had a hand in the death of the original version of Kyle. Wouldn't his death at the hands of the new Kyle be like the dead Kyle taking revenge from beyond the grave?
Even more, he hadn't seen Sebastian in hundreds of thousands of years. Just by looking at Sebastian and his companion, Kyle could tell that Sebastian had changed tremendously. A life in peace, surrounded by family, had affected Sebastian.
Was this even the same Sebastian Kyle knew?
"Kyle," Sebastian said, his voice straining. "I... You can... I'm..."
Sebastian lost all his strength and looked at the ground, too ashamed to look at Kyle.
"I don't want Melanie to die," he said weakly.
Kyle gritted his teeth in suppressed anger.
Meanwhile, Melanie turned to look at Kyle with a steely expression. "I swear on all of my existence, if Sebastian dies, I will commit suicide immediately after."
A horrified expression appeared on Sebastian's face as he looked at Melanie. He knew that she loved him dearly, but seeing her swear such an oath was still shocking to him.
Black's entire body shook as the Energy inside him turned chaotic.
Kill her! Just kill her! Forget Sebastian! He abandoned you! Just kill her!
Yet, when he saw Sebastian, he remembered all the time they had spent together.
The Tertiary World was gone. The Array of Stars had abandoned him. Inner World wanted to kill him. The Contrast Empire was his enemy. He barely had any connection with the Cult of Final Fate. Manny was gone. Fierce Breaker was gone. Lara was gone. Swamp Dragon had turned into an enemy. The Ayuvar he had called home was no more. Even the original Kyle was gone.
What even connected Kyle's current life to Kyle's past life?
Sebastian was the last connection.
If he killed Sebastian...
The old Kyle would truly be dead.
Kyle looked at the Overseer, desperately searching for a reason he could use to kill her.
Yet, the Overseer was doing nothing. In fact, she wasn't even regenerating any Energy. Based on how much time had passed, the Overseer should have recovered 5% of her Energy already, but she was still stuck at 3% of her total Energy.
She was actively suppressing her regeneration.
She had to. If she kept regenerating Energy, Kyle would be forced to choose, and she knew that. One choice was to capitulate and just give up, but there was no possible way this would ever happen. The other two choices were to kill her or to leave the world, and both of them were bad for her.
For the first time in over a billion years, the Overseer had willingly accepted a position in which she was not the most powerful existence. Her life was in Kyle's hands. Her survival depended on Kyle's whim.
Kyle saw that the Overseer didn't regenerate Energy, which meant she was not a threat to him right now. Yet, that didn't mean that she wasn't a threat to Sebastian and Melanie. She could kill them with ease.
Frankly, Kyle didn't give a shit about Melanie. He had never met her before, but now, her life was connected to Sebastian's life, which meant he was forced to care about her well-being.
Kyle couldn't find a solution to his inner conflict. No matter what he chose, he wouldn't be happy.
He didn't want to kill Sebastian.
He wanted to kill the Overseer.
There was no way to get both things.
Yet, Kyle wasn't the only one who didn't like the current situation.
The Overseer didn't like to be here. Even if this situation somehow led to her escape, there was no way that Kyle wouldn't chase after her. If things went horribly wrong, the entire Supreme World might chase after her just to please Kyle. Additionally, she also didn't want to use hostages, but what else was she supposed to do?
Sebastian and Melanie also didn't want to be in this situation.
In the distance, Swamp Dragon looked towards the group. He couldn't sense them since they were so far away, but he knew roughly where they were. The storms of Energy had stopped. There was no way for him to estimate how the fight had gone.
However, just because he didn't have the ability to predict the fight didn't mean that nobody else could.
There had been one more "person" who had gotten involved in Ayuvar, and he certainly had this ability.
'Ever since the Will of Death appeared, the future has been set in stone. Control and freedom. You will do what he wants because you're doing what you want.'
'Right now, the picture must be dark. Control and freedom are not in harmony. This is not the picture the Will of Death has painted...'
'Not yet.'
'I am your opposite. I am like your past Heaven. You must hate me for that.'
'But you also understand me and know what I want.'
'I couldn't escape your schemes, Will of Death, but I also didn't want to.'
'Isn't this also what I wanted?'
Swamp Dragon closed his eyes, feeling the emotions of reality.
He had used the chaos of the battle to undergo his Fusion and reached the Advanced Fusion Realm.
And as an Advanced Ascendant...
BOOOOOOM!
Kyle, Sebastian, Melanie, and the Overseer all turned to look towards the west as an apocalyptic storm of Energy appeared.
It was unmistakable.
Someone was becoming an Immortal!
This changed the entire situation!
