Chapter 1258: Chapter 1257: Illusion Realm
"You know?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"I know. Weren’t you the ones who just entered the preliminary test that day? I remember," the man said.
Jiang Cheng felt that the man in front of him wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
The man in the robe glanced at Jiang Cheng, "Then I’m leaving." He then walked away. Jiang Cheng watched the man in the robe leave, speechless, thinking he’d never seen such a strange person before.
"Let’s go." The man watched the robe-clad man leave, and the smile on his face suddenly disappeared.
"Did you set a trap?" Jiang Cheng said casually, then followed the man ahead.
The man in front didn’t reply, just quickened his pace. Jiang Cheng continued to follow him without saying anything.
"Where did the other person go?" the man in front suddenly asked.
Jiang Cheng didn’t respond and just kept walking.
"Not saying now? I’ll make you talk later." The man in front snorted coldly, his tone unfriendly.
Jiang Cheng didn’t mind. Who would regret it wasn’t certain yet, Jiang Cheng thought.
After walking for about ten minutes, Jiang Cheng saw the man in front leading him to a place he had just been. Only this time, they walked a bit further in, to a very inconspicuous house.
Jiang Cheng followed the man in front inside. Upon entering, Jiang Cheng saw a very eerie sight. The room was surrounded by mirrors. To be precise, they were all Four-dimensional Mirrors.
Jiang Cheng had a feeling that Qi Rongfeng might be inside here.
"Your friend you’re looking for is inside here." The man sat on the only chair in the room. "Where do you think he is?"
At this point, Jiang Cheng understood the man’s intention, which was for him to find out where Qi Rongfeng was. But these mirrors all looked the same.
"Not going in? Friend? Just like that." The man said mockingly.
Jiang Cheng didn’t care about the man’s provocation. If he were to fall for it now, and randomly enter a mirror, he would really be in trouble.
Jiang Cheng calmed down and thought about it. He figured that if he took out the analyzer now, the person in front might fly into a rage out of shame.
"Now that you’ve achieved your goal, why are you still here?
Do you want to go in with me?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Of course, I won’t go in. But if you want to leave now, it’s still not too late," the man said.
"Aren’t you just a coward too? We’re just the same," Jiang Cheng said using Lu Dai’s mocking tone.
"Not my friend, really funny." The man was a bit angry, his gaze shifted unnaturally to elsewhere.
Jiang Cheng saw where he was looking, the mirror in the corner. He wasn’t sure if Rongfeng was in that place. Jiang Cheng was a bit uncertain.
"Forget it, I’m not going in. Seeing you like this, it must be very dangerous inside," Jiang Cheng said, feigning a frightened expression.
The man looked at Jiang Cheng, his eyes filled with deeper disdain. "Honestly, it wasn’t me who captured you guys, but for sure, you’ve provoked someone. So," the man looked at Jiang Cheng, "if you don’t go in to save your friend, he might...," after speaking, the man gestured a throat-cutting motion.
"So you’re just entrusted by others?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Of course, we have no grudges," the man replied, "but,
if you tell me where the other person went, I might consider letting you go now," the man said.
Jiang Cheng found it amusing. This guy, now just wants to trap himself? Did he think he could really confine him here? Jiang Cheng thought.
"Another one? Don’t you know? Aren’t you monitoring us?" Jiang Cheng was somewhat surprised.
"Heh, you know? And you won’t say? Still stalling?" The man also realized Jiang Cheng wasn’t foolish, his tone became more forceful.
"Then what are you doing here? Stuffing me in? Don’t you have any laws?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Laws? On the territory of the Wula Sect, do you still want any laws?" The man looked at Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng knew that forcing him out was impossible. This person was specifically here to watch him go in. Jiang Cheng thought for a moment, then walked to the mirror in the corner where the man had looked earlier. He observed the man’s expression change from indifferent to nervous. Jiang Cheng was quite sure now, Rongfeng might be inside.
Jiang Cheng took a deep breath and walked in without hesitation. As soon as Jiang stepped inside, he felt a powerful suction. As he went in, he felt a strong wind blowing, giving him chills.
Jiang Cheng surveyed the scene before him, spotting a vast desert. From here, no sign of greenery could be seen. Just by looking, Jiang Cheng felt his throat become parched. He took out his phone to check the time and attempted to make a call. As expected, there wasn’t a single signal.
Jiang Cheng took out a sonic analyzer, but there wasn’t a single fluctuation, suggesting there were no people in this Zhou Country. Jiang Cheng turned on the analyzer and continued to walk forward.
Jiang Cheng observed his footprints, deeper and shallower in the sand, finally confirming he really was in a desert.
After wandering aimlessly for about twenty minutes, a gust of wind seemed to rise ahead, blinding Jiang Cheng from the path ahead. He clearly felt sand blowing onto his face, thanking himself for having closed his mouth, otherwise he would have inhaled a mouthful of sand.
Jiang Cheng put on a coat, feeling genuinely cold.
After nearly ten more minutes, the walking became truly hard, but he could vaguely see people in the distance, which shocked him. How could there be people here?
As Jiang Cheng found himself getting closer to those people, he became more anxious. Jiang instinctively heard the sound of camel bells, and quickly hid behind a large rock nearby.
Jiang Cheng looked at the people before him, feeling a bit sneaky, but in this situation, he knew nothing of the circumstances.
Encountering others could turn out very troublesome. This time, Jiang Cheng just wanted to find Rongfeng and ensure safety.
The people Jiang Cheng watched were slowly walking by, about a dozen in number, leading several camels carrying items Jiang couldn’t clearly see.
They seemed to be talking about something. It felt surprisingly real, Jiang thought.
Jiang Cheng could hear their voices from afar, discussing something about teacups, completely unaware of Jiang Cheng’s presence.
Once they walked off into the distance, Jiang Cheng stood up. He was more certain now that his previous guess about Rongfeng being in another space was wrong. It now seemed obvious this was an illusion realm. If it was another space, Jiang Cheng might not have been so panicked. At least it was a physically existing space. But an illusion realm was purely imaginary, part of someone else’s mental space, greatly diminishing the safety factor, which made Jiang Cheng anxious.
Staring at the endless desert, Jiang Cheng truly felt lost. Thinking it over, he realized his high-tech gadgets might be useless here. In that moment, he felt the collapse of his mental state. Yet, resignation was not an option.
