Chapter 1266: Chapter 1265: Virtual Illusion Realm
"What are you even saying? Since I’m here, of course I’m taking you out." Jiang Cheng said, "And come on, who am I? How could I possibly fail to get you out?" It was the first time Jiang Cheng had used this kind of teasing tone with someone.
Looking at this side of Jiang Cheng, Qi Rongfeng couldn’t help finding it a bit funny. The atmosphere didn’t feel so heavy anymore. "Jiang, you saying that isn’t bad at all. Staying here’s actually pretty nice. I’ll keep you company." Jiang Cheng said with a completely serious face.
After a long while, Qi Rongfeng still didn’t say anything, just kept his head down. When he finally looked up, his eyes were red. "Jiang, you’re my brother now. I’ll admit it!"
Jiang Cheng watched Qi Rongfeng getting emotional without saying anything. "We were bros to begin with!" Jiang Cheng said with a smile.
Hearing Jiang Cheng’s words, Qi Rongfeng suddenly stopped crying and burst out laughing. "Haha, yeah, I really was being stupid."
Watching Qi Rongfeng finally laugh, Jiang Cheng felt like he was really back.
"There we go. There’s always a way out." Jiang Cheng said.
Right then, Jiang Cheng’s locator device started beeping. He raised it to his ear and listened. It was Zhang Tian’s voice: "Jiang Cheng, I’m here already!"
"That fast?" Jiang Cheng was a bit surprised. Then he spoke toward the locator: "I’m in the last room on the second floor. Come in."
Qi Rongfeng heard Jiang Cheng’s conversation with Zhang Tian. "Zhang Tian’s here?"
"Yeah, he should have a way. He’s familiar with this kind of thing." Jiang Cheng said. Not long after, someone knocked on the door. Jiang Cheng opened it and let Zhang Tian in. "You got here really fast." Jiang Cheng said.
"I didn’t go very far." Zhang Tian replied casually. After he came in, he looked over at Qi Rongfeng. "You’re okay, huh."
"He’s fine physically, but he can’t get out through this door at all. What’s going on?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Can’t get out? What do you mean?" Zhang Tian was a bit confused. He walked up to the door, pushed it open, and tried to step out. But just as he was about to cross the threshold, he was bounced back—exactly like Qi Rongfeng had been.
For a moment Zhang Tian was knocked to the floor, staring blankly at the doorway. After a bit he climbed back up by himself. "Got it. You’re in the same situation as me?" Zhang Tian asked Qi Rongfeng.
"Yeah, that’s exactly how it is. But Jiang isn’t affected. What the hell is this?" Qi Rongfeng said.
Looking at what was happening, Jiang Cheng was a bit stunned. Was he really the only one who could come and go freely?
"There’s a barrier set at the doorway. Once you come in, you can’t get out." Zhang Tian said calmly.
"As for why Jiang Cheng can get out... most likely because he’s not... a normal person." Zhang Tian continued.
"Not a normal person?" Qi Feng looked at Jiang Cheng, puzzled. Jiang Cheng already had a pretty good guess in his heart. It was probably because of his System—and also because he wasn’t from this planet. Jiang Cheng thought.
Zhang Tian looked at Jiang Cheng too, silently, not sure what he was thinking.
At that moment, Zhao Shuai’s voice came through the locator as well. "Jiang, I’m here too."
"Have some tea and grab a bite on the first floor for now." Jiang Cheng spoke into the locator. "We’re on the second floor, but don’t come up yet."
"Huh? Jiang, did you guys run into some kind of danger?" Hearing Jiang Cheng’s words, Zhao Shuai sounded extremely anxious.
"Yeah, there’s a bit of a problem right now, so don’t come in yet." Jiang Zai said.
Jiang Cheng figured there was a good chance Zhao Shuai wouldn’t be able to get out if he came in either. So he still didn’t let Zhao Shuai come up. If things really went sideways, he couldn’t let everyone take the risk in here.
Zhao Shuai agreed and didn’t come upstairs. At this point Zhang Tian walked over to the doorway, holding something that looked like a stone in his hand, as if he were probing for something.
"What’s that?" Qi Rongfeng walked up to Zhang Tian and asked.
"I’m trying to Unsealing this virtual Illusion Realm. We can’t just stay trapped here forever." Zhang Tian said.
"How about you tell me the method you used just now to break the Illusion Realm? Anyway, I’m the only one who can get out right now. I’ll try smashing this whole Illusion Realm directly." Jiang Cheng said.
"The situation now isn’t the same as before. If you go out and smash this virtual Illusion Realm from the outside, we’ll end up stuck here for good." Zhang Tian said.
Jiang Cheng could tell Zhang Tian wasn’t lying at all, and he also felt that approach probably wouldn’t work. He watched Zhang Tian holding a strange stone; whenever it got close to the doorway, a pink light shimmered out of it, looking almost dreamy.
"What kind of stone is that?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"You don’t know?" Zhang Tian shot back with a teasing tone.
"I don’t know everything, okay." Jiang Cheng was a bit helpless. Ever since he came here, he felt kind of useless—especially inside this Illusion Realm, it felt like he was constantly relying on Zhang Tian.
"This thing can detect the properties of the Illusion Realm. Simply put, it can break this doorway in front of us." Zhang Tian had his full attention on the stone now.
Jiang Cheng watched as, before long, the stone in Zhang Tian’s hand suddenly vanished.
Right after, Zhang Tian closed his eyes and started chanting something under his breath. From the shape of his lips, Jiang Cheng could more or less tell that he was silently reciting the Wall-Penetrating Technique he himself had tried before. So it was actually being channeled through that stone?
Jiang Cheng felt like his imagination was running wild, but after the stone disappeared, he really didn’t see it again. The doorway in front of them didn’t seem to change at all.
"It’s done." Zhang Tian said.
"That’s it?" Qi Rongfeng looked around, feeling like nothing had changed, but still went over to test it. He first stretched a foot out and found that it actually went through. Then his whole body walked out as well. "Holy crap, I’m really out. Hahaha!" Qi Rongfeng stood outside the door laughing, then kept going in and out to test it several more times.
"Zhang Tian, you try too?" After confirming he really could get out, Qi Rongfeng turned and asked.
"I’ll pass." Zhang Tian replied coolly. "Let’s go." He turned and spoke to Jiang Cheng.
Qi Rongfeng didn’t really think much of it, just walked along happily. It looked like that huge burden in his heart had finally been lifted.
The three of them walked down the stairs one after another. Jiang Cheng saw that the people who’d just been eating and drinking tea on the first floor had all vanished. Only Zhao Shuai was left.
He was just standing there in a daze. The waitstaff nearby and the people behind the bar were all gone. The entire inn now only had the three of them. "Jiang? Rongfeng, Zhang Tian. Oh my god!" Zhao Shuai ran over to Jiang Cheng in a hurry.
"You have no idea how terrifying it was just now. Everyone disappeared in an instant and I was the only one left." Zhao Shuai had really gotten a scare.
"It’s fine. I couldn’t get out at first, then Zhang Tian helped me, broke the Illusion Realm. The people in here weren’t real to begin with.
Their disappearing is totally normal." Rongfeng explained.
Only now did Zhao Shuai suddenly seem to process it. He threw his arms around Qi Rongfeng in a hug. "Man, Rongfeng, I missed you so damn much. You must’ve gone through a lot these days, huh?"
"Not really, I was just stuck and couldn’t get out. I’m fine now, aren’t I?" Qi Rongfeng was half laughing, half crying at his reaction. He hadn’t even gone through that much, and Zhao Shuai’s emotions were already that intense.
"I was seriously worried sick." Zhao Shuai glanced at Qi Rongfeng; he really did look like he’d been worrying about him this whole time. "Let’s move. It’s not safe here." Zhang Tian said.
