Chapter 1267 - 1266: Acting

Chapter 1267: Chapter 1266: Acting

Zhao Shuai also put away his previous imitation at the sound of the words, and looked at Zhang Tian with irritation. This person really has no sense of romance.

"Just follow me, we’ve already broken this Illusion Realm; there’s actually nothing here anymore. It’s very easy to get out," Zhang Tian said.

Jiang Cheng responded and followed Zhang Tian. Just as Zhao Shuai was the last to walk out of the inn, the entire inn suddenly disappeared. "Oh my, this is really too frightful. What is this?" Zhao Shuai patted his chest, "I really can’t handle these repeated unexpected incidents."

"This isn’t an accident; it was bound to happen. I just said this place was dangerous," Zhang Tian said.

"Well, I..." Zhao Shuai looked at Zhang Tian, wanted to say something, but it suddenly seemed that Zhang Tian was right. He pursed his lips and followed.

The few people walked quietly in the desert like this, each feeling that the desert now seemed more like a dead city, a place with no sound at all.

"How long do we have to walk to get out?" Zhao Shuai asked.

"We’ve only walked a few steps, not even five minutes," Qi Rongfeng said.

"It’s only been three minutes," Jiang Cheng glanced at the border of the desert where the sun was about to set behind the mountains. It’s better to leave here early.

"Oh my, I always feel a bit scared," Zhao Shuai said, looking around, not seeing anyone at all.

"Don’t let your thoughts wander, just keep following," Qi Rongfeng turned around and said to Zhao Shuai.

Just a few steps later, Jiang Cheng heard footsteps belonging to others, it wasn’t just one person, but a group! Logically, there shouldn’t be anyone here. What’s going on? Jiang Cheng thought.

"There’s someone in the distance!" Jiang Cheng noticed that Zhang Tian and the others hadn’t realized yet and spoke up.

"How is that possible?" Zhang Tian was shocked.

Before Jiang Cheng could come up with a solution, he saw a group of people coming in front, to be precise, a group of horsemen, just like bandits from a TV drama!

"There are people! Boss!" one of the leading figures pointed at Jiang Cheng and the others, speaking to the people behind.

Jiang Cheng heard them speaking in Jia Country language. It seemed there were many of them, direct confrontation wouldn’t work, they had to think of a strategy. Jiang Cheng watched more and more people surround them, thinking.

There were about ten people surrounding Jiang Cheng and the others. These people were dressed very casually, all in black clothes, but they didn’t have any weapons in their hands. Jiang Cheng felt slightly relieved.

"Who are you?" The leader of the horsemen slowly rode out from the back. He seemed like an ordinary man, not appearing to be over thirty, but he had a fierce appearance with a scar running from his forehead to the outer corner of his right eye, giving him a more intimidating look. At that moment, he was looking at Jiang Cheng and the others with dissatisfaction, as if they had trespassed on his territory.

"We were in the inn ahead; our inn suddenly disappeared. We just came out to see what happened," Jiang Cheng said, looking terrified as if genuinely frightened by the previous scene.

Zhang Tian watched Jiang Cheng put on a timid facade that surprisingly didn’t feel awkward at all. It seemed the bandit leader had believed them somewhat, as his eyes were no longer as hostile as initially.

"The inn ahead? I’ve been there before; how come I haven’t seen you? You three look unfamiliar," the bandit leader continued questioning, squinting his eyes, looking difficult to fool.

"We are all new staff, today was our first day working, and who would’ve thought we’d encounter such a situation. Sigh," Zhao Shuai said with regret and fear. It must be said, Zhao Shuai was quite good at acting; at least Jiang Cheng thought he was better than himself.

"Boss, I think they’re telling the truth. There was a staff member I knew in that inn who quit a few days ago. Besides, look at how scared they are by such a minor incident; they probably aren’t lying," a young bandit next to the leader said. His words seemed to take effect as many people’s gaze towards Jiang Cheng and the others shifted from initial wariness to disdain. "Haha, I agree. Alright, you can go. You probably won’t cause any trouble," the bandit leader said.

Seeing this, Jiang Cheng finally exhaled a sigh of relief, signaled to the others behind, and moved forward.

"Oh? Wait!" Just as they were letting out a breath of relief, the bandit leader called after Jiang Cheng and the others. Jiang Cheng froze entirely, slowly turned around, "What’s wrong?"

"You’re all out, what about your boss? Did he disappear too?"

Jiang Cheng felt this was a question he couldn’t answer. As he was pondering how to quickly escape from these people, he unexpectedly heard the bandit leader suddenly say, "Oh, I forgot! He left for some matters yesterday." After speaking, the leader turned away, muttering to himself, and called his men to leave.

"Oh, this was really a close call, so terrifying," Zhao Shuai wiped sweat from his forehead and said.

"Very strange, that person just now seemed like he suddenly changed," Qi Rongfeng felt something unusual.

Jiang Cheng looked at Zhang Tian’s paler face behind them, he had guessed earlier that Zhang Tian must have bewitched those two earlier, making them change their words. Zhang Tian seemed so weak as if he couldn’t stand anymore, so Jiang Cheng quickly reached out to support him.

"It’s nothing. Let’s go, quickly," Zhang Tian said in a low voice, knowing Jiang Cheng must have figured it out, but he had no intention of concealing.

"Right, we have to go quickly; those people might come back!" Jiang Cheng said.

"Walk forward for a few minutes, there’s an opening there and we can get out through that!" Zhang Tian strove to say.

"Okay, I got it, you don’t have to speak," Jiang Cheng felt Zhang Tian really pushed himself for him and Qi Rongfeng.

After a few minutes of walking, Jiang Cheng saw a surface resembling a Four-dimensional Mirror ahead, thinking that must be the opening Zhang Tian made.

"Is it the one ahead? We just go in there to get out, right?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Yes," Zhang Tian responded.

Jiang Cheng and the others quickly walked into that mirror surface, Jiang Cheng entered first, followed by Zhao Shuai, Zhang Tian, and Qi Rongfeng.

As soon as Jiang Cheng stepped in, familiar scenes when entering Li Country came to his mind; it looked exactly the same.

"How much longer do we have to walk?" Jiang Cheng watched Zhang Tian who appeared about to collapse.

"Just a few steps," Zhang Tian attempted to speak, but suddenly fainted.

Zhao Shuai and Jiang Cheng quickly caught Zhang Tian, "Why did he faint?" Zhao Shuai asked anxiously.

"Too tired this time," Jiang Cheng said, looking at Zhang Tian’s pale face, thinking he had already reached his limit.

"Come, let go, I’ll carry him!" Jiang Cheng said to Zhao Shuai.

"I’ll do it, Jiang, you’re exhausted too," Zhao Shuai insisted, looking at Jiang Cheng.

Seeing Zhao Shuai’s resolve, Jiang Cheng compromised, realizing he was truly fatigued too.

Zhao Shuai, carrying Zhang Tian, didn’t slow down either, able to follow Jiang Cheng’s pace swiftly. As Jiang Cheng saw the exit ahead, he thought about how they finally made it out; they faced many challenges, and he needed to sort everything out nice and clearly once out. Jiang Cheng thought.

Very quickly, Jiang Cheng walked out of the exit. Upon emerging, his eyes met the streets, wondering where he was. Checking his phone, he deduced it was near Zhang Tian’s home.
