Chapter 1277: Chapter 1276: Let Bygones Be Bygones

"Get lost," Jiang Cheng said blandly.

"If you fix this for me now, I won’t press charges." Otherwise, Li Bin was about to speak to Jiang Cheng.

"I told you to get lost. Don’t make me say it a third time." Jiang Cheng interrupted him impatiently.

Li Bin, for some reason, suddenly panicked when he saw Jiang Cheng’s cool gaze. "Just wait, we’re not done yet!" he shouted before running off.

Jiang Cheng watched as the man, who had just been so aggressive at the door, ran off like that. He snorted and closed the door.

"Ugh, that disgusting piece of trash," Zhao Shuai said. "Jiang, I feel like you went too easy on him. He caused us so much suffering before."

"He wasn’t the main culprit; he didn’t have the ability for that," Jiang Cheng said.

"Yeah, you see that cowardly look of his, obviously not," Qi Rongfeng said.

"I’m just worried he’ll keep pestering us," Cloud said with a bit of disgust, furrowing her brows.

"This time, let it be a lesson for him. Mainly to expose the person behind him. If he continues to harass us, I have ways to deal with him!" Jiang Cheng said.

"But how are we going to expose the person behind him?" Cloud asked.

"Yeah, I have a feeling the person behind him is now openly ignoring things, letting this rampage," Zhao Shuai said.

The group casually ate some food at home. Jiang Cheng felt a bit sleepy. Just as he was about to lie down for a nap, the phone suddenly rang. Jiang Cheng saw it was an unknown number but answered anyway.

Jiang Cheng hung up the phone, his expression somewhat helpless and surprised. "What’s wrong, Jiang?" Qi Rongfeng asked.

"They want me to bail Wu Fen out," Jiang Cheng was puzzled. "What’s going on? Why did Wu Shan call me to bail her out? Did she end up in jail?" Zhao Shuai asked with a frown.

"It seems so," Jiang Cheng said.

"Why do they want you to bail her out?" Cloud asked.

"Is there some conspiracy? Jiang, maybe you should reconsider going."

"Even Wu Mu..." Qi Rongfeng initially wanted to say Wu is a bad person but glanced at Zhao Shuai beside him and said nothing.

"Forget it, even if there is a conspiracy, I still have to check it out."

As Jiang Cheng spoke, he got up.

Surprisingly, Zhao Shuai didn’t mention wanting to go along, but instead retreated to his room without saying a word.

As Jiang Cheng left, Qi Rongfeng asked Zhao Shuai, "Shuai, why didn’t you say you wanted to go?"

Jiang Cheng arrived at the office mentioned on the call. When he walked inside, two young officers came up to him, "What are you here for?" one of the officers asked, not very amiably.

"I’m here for bail." Jiang Cheng said.

"Go that way, walk to the very end, don’t wander around," the officer said with an angry tone, seemingly bothered by something, but Jiang Cheng didn’t take it to heart and walked in the direction he was told. Once turned, Jiang Cheng heard the officers talking behind him, "These miscellaneous things are the reason we can never get off work on time. Annoying." The other seemed to be comforting, "Sigh, alright, alright, there’s nothing that can be done, isn’t there."

Jiang Cheng shook his head in silent disapproval; just wanting to go home on time doesn’t mean you’re doing your job properly, just throwing tantrums.

Jiang Cheng walked to the end of the hallway. He knocked on the door, which quickly opened, and saw two officers sitting by the entrance, then a table where Wu Shan was indeed seated.

Wu Shan looked bored, not at all displaying the tension or worry of being caught. Seeing Jiang Cheng come in, she just offered a slight smile as a greeting. Jiang Cheng suddenly felt a bit regretful; it seemed she wasn’t in any trouble at all.

"Are you here to bail her out?" a female officer asked him.

"Yeah," Jiang Cheng replied.

"Register first. Follow me." The female officer led Jiang Cheng to sit on the other side. She took out a notebook and began writing. Jiang Cheng noticed there was a computer nearby, yet wondered why she chose to write manually. It puzzled him, but he said nothing.

"Name. Who are you to her?" the female officer asked.

"Jiang Cheng," Jiang Cheng said, handing his ID card to the female officer.

"I’m her friend."

"Alright, do you know what she did?" the female officer asked with a sharp look.

Jiang Cheng looked around and it seemed there was only Wu Mu here. Before coming, he thought it was because of some protest, but it apparently wasn’t.

"I don’t know," Jiang Cheng replied.

"She hacked into our station’s computer, but fortunately we caught it quickly, so it’s not very severe. Still, it caused significant trouble," the male officer said.

Jiang Cheng glanced at Wu. This is the kind of stunt she’d pull, but why was it discovered so easily? Jiang Cheng felt suspicious.

"Don’t worry, we have evidence and surveillance here. You can take a look," the female officer said.

"This device is operational, right?" Jiang Cheng asked, approaching the computer screen they indicated.

"Sure, luckily we found out early, only our office computers suffered, and we’ve got someone to contain it now," the female officer explained.

On the screen Jiang Cheng could see it was indeed Wu Shan; she was wearing the same black outfit she had on now when she entered the office. Due to some problem, the surveillance footage was blurry, but it was unmistakably Wu Fen. But it’s strange; if Wu Shan wanted to hack the computer, why didn’t she destroy the surveillance? Wasn’t she just setting herself up to be caught?

Jiang Cheng looked back at Wu Shi; her face was blank, neither sad nor happy, but pale, suggesting she hadn’t rested well for many days.

"So, can I process the bail now?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Technically, yes. She was detained for a day, and she can be bailed out with the bail bond paid," the female officer said.

Jiang Cheng followed their procedures to handle the paperwork and got Wu Fen out. Throughout the process, Wu Shan maintained a blank expression. There wasn’t a hint of change, as if it had nothing to do with her at all. Jiang Cheng couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off with this calm Wu Shan.

After leaving the office, Wu Shan followed Jiang Cheng without a word, calmly walking. Just as Jiang Cheng was about to turn and ask Wu Fen a question, he saw Wu Shan starting to faint, about to fall over. Jiang Cheng quickly caught her, smelling the faint scent of disinfectant coming from her.

Jiang Cheng carried Wu Shan to the roadside to hail a cab, realizing as he held her that Wu Shan felt so light. She seemed to be all bones.
