Chapter 1295: Chapter 1294: Time Machine
Hmm, if you need any help, just let me know," the glasses-wearing man chuckled. "But why didn’t I see that girl?" the glasses-wearing man asked.
Jiang Cheng paused for a moment, not quite comprehending.
Oh, Qingqing, she should be coming over in a bit, Xiaobai said.
The glasses-wearing man showed a hint of embarrassment on his face, "Alright. I’m leaving first," he said and left.
Jiang Cheng noticed that he was holding a food container. What’s going on? "Zai, he’s probably here to deliver breakfast to Qingqing," Xiaobai winked at Jiang Zai.
Jiang Cheng got it too. This glasses-wearing man had an ulterior motive.
Jiang Cheng and Xiaobai entered the laboratory, switched on the computer, and checked the previous progress of the Time Machine. "Zai, do you think there are really other dimensions? I still find it unbelievable," Xiaobai asked.
Seeing Xiaobai’s amazed look, Jiang Cheng hesitated to reveal that he actually came from another dimension.
"Of course there are," Jiang Cheng replied.
Jiang Cheng saw that the previous researchers had almost developed a prototype of the Time Machine, with lots of plans and many chips and components already designed. It just happened that the Time Machine was currently facing a bottleneck.
"Zai, is it possible that the temperature in the main control room of the Time Machine is incorrect?" Xiaobai asked.
"Temperature?" Jiang Cheng checked. "It’s kept constant, but something seems strange." "What do you think is wrong?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"I don’t know; I just feel the chips in the main control room are weird," Xiaobai said.
Jiang Cheng listened and checked, noting the main control room’s responsibility to manage the Time Machine’s temperature and direction. He still didn’t find anything wrong.
Jiang Cheng thought it was not just the chips that were simply wrong, "I don’t know either. Let me look again," Jiang Cheng replied, opening the computer to examine the chips and components.
Xiaobai also diligently examined the chip programs. Neither spoke for a while, completely focused on the programs. Three hours later, Xiaobai noticed that Jiang Cheng hadn’t moved at all, still sitting in the chair staring at the chips.
Xiaobai realized it was almost lunchtime and saw that Jiang Cheng was planning to skip meals again. Xiaobai sighed and went out to buy lunch. As he stepped out, he saw Qiu Qingqing approaching.
Qiu Qingqing ignored Xiaobai and walked straight into the laboratory. "Qingqing?" Xiaobai managed to say after a while.
Qiu Qingqing halted, slowly turned around, and looked at Xiaobai.
Under Qiu Qingqing’s gaze, Xiaobai was speechless, "Do you want me to bring you lunch?" His face turned red.
"No thanks," Qiu Qingqing replied and turned away.
Xiaobai remained, staring at Qiu Qingqing’s back, thinking how beautiful it was.
Jiang Cheng was completely absorbed in the data, his brain working at high speed, calculating nonstop, searching for any possible mistakes. He didn’t notice anyone leaving or entering.
Meanwhile, Qiu Qingqing entered without disturbing Jiang Cheng and sat on the other side, quietly looking through the materials.
When Xiaobai returned, he saw this - Jiang Cheng unchanged, still sitting in the same spot, calculating intently. Xiaobai didn’t know what to do; he had no way to interrupt him.
Qiu Qingqing was alike, very focused.
Xiaobai silently finished his lunch and approached Jiang Cheng, "Zai?" No one responded. "Qingqing?" No answer.
"Zai!" Xiaobai shouted, and Jiang Cheng finally lifted his head, looking at Xiaobai, dazed.
"Are you eating now, Zai?" Xiaobai whispered.
"Yeah, thank you. I only eat when I remember," Jiang Zai chuckled.
Qiu Qingqing was startled by Xiaobai’s shout and looked up at him.
"No problem, sorry, please continue," Xiaobai awkwardly said.
Qiu Qingqing lowered her head again.
After finishing his meal, Jiang Cheng asked Xiaobai, "Did you eat?"
"Yes. You’re really awesome, Zai," Xiaobai said admiringly.
"I only sit for a few hours here; it’s still hard to remain completely focused," Xiaobai said.
"Alright, I’ll continue. I feel we’re almost there," Jiang Cheng said.
"What do you mean by almost there?" Xiaobai asked.
"After reviewing, we’re almost done. I’ve found the general direction," Jiang Cheng replied.
Nearby, Qiu Qingqing hadn’t spoken a word and kept silently looking at the data.
Jiang Cheng and Xiaobai returned to their spots and continued reviewing their materials. Silence enveloped the entire laboratory.
An hour later, Jiang Cheng stood up, moved to a simulator, installed some backup chips, and began simulating.
Xiaobai saw Jiang Cheng standing up and joined him, "Is it working?"
"Maybe. Let’s see," Jiang Cheng replied, watching the simulator with anticipation. Beside him, Xiaobai watched too, without moving.
"Zai, if it moves, does that mean it worked?" Xiaobai asked.
"Yes, let’s see if it moves," Jiang Cheng also felt a bit anxious.
Both stared eagerly at the small simulator, and gradually, it really moved!
"Zai, it’s moving! Oh my God, it worked, and it took so little time!" Xiaobai exclaimed, almost in tears from excitement.
"You’re amazing, Zai," Xiaobai almost wanted to announce to the world.
Qiu Qingqing also approached Jiang Cheng holding the simulator, "Did it succeed?"
Startled by Qiu Qingqing’s question, Jiang Cheng replied, "Yes, it did. Next, it should work smoother," Jiang Cheng said.
"Not bad," Qiu Qingqing remarked.
Despite Qiu Qingqing’s words, Jiang Cheng found her unexpectedly insightful.
Jiang Cheng remained silent. Although Qiu Qingqing showed no emotion, she seemed in a good mood.
"Shall we continue?" Xiaobai asked.
"Of course, let’s aim to finish by tomorrow!" Jiang Cheng said, looking energized.
"Zai, you look so cool," Xiaobai said, admiringly gazing at Jiang Cheng.
"How did you manage to do it?" Qiu Qingqing asked.
"One of the chips was faulty. I found it and replaced it," Jiang Cheng said.
"It sounds easy, but there were so many chips, tens of thousands of parts. How did you replace it?" Xiaobai asked.
"I searched carefully and methodically," Jiang Cheng said.
"That’s impressive. I really think you’re not an ordinary person. And Qingqing, but Qingqing’s more because of her looks. Not eating, she’s probably a fairy," Xiaobai said.
"Who says I don’t eat? I ate before coming," Qiu Beiqing said.
Jiang Cheng thought today’s Qiu Qingqing had spoken more words than she had in days combined, truly surprising.
Suddenly, the phone rang. Jiang Cheng answered, hearing it’s Wu Lei. Jiang Cheng thought he called at the right time.
Xiaobai heard Jiang Cheng talking to Wu Lei about the Time Machine.
Without listening fully, Xiaobai saw his mom calling, answering it to hear that she wanted him and Jiang Cheng to go home for lunch in the afternoon.
