Chapter 1299 - 1298: When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do

Chapter 1299: Chapter 1298: When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do

Jiang Cheng didn’t expect to be seen so clearly by Little Bai, feeling a little stunned. He stared blankly at Little Bai.

"Hey, bro, if you ever decide to leave, you must tell me, otherwise I’ll be really worried," Little Bai said with a smile.

"I," Jiang Cheng said.

"Don’t say anything now. We’ll talk about it later." Little Bai lowered his head without speaking, his expression seriously unlike anything Jiang Cheng had ever seen.

Looking at Little Bai’s slightly reddened eyes, Jiang Cheng felt selfish for the first time. He lowered his head, eating his meal but unable to focus on anything else.

For the first time, the two of them quietly finished their meal together. Then they returned to Yi Company’s laboratory.

"Hey, bro, isn’t that Qin Nan?" Little Bai pointed to the person standing outside the laboratory.

"Oh, yeah, she’s quick," Jiang Cheng said, still locking the laboratory door when he left, not expecting anyone to return so quickly.

"You’re back?" Qin Nan asked, looking at Jiang Cheng.

"Yeah, just had some food, didn’t expect you to return so soon," Jiang Cheng replied, looking at Qin Nan.

"Nothing much to pack up," Qin Nan said.

When Jiang Cheng opened the door and Little Bai and Qin Nan came in, he suddenly thought of Qiu Qingqing. Could it be that she hadn’t returned? Or did she return but couldn’t get in without a key?

"Where’s Qingqing? Did she go somewhere else to eat?" Little Bai asked.

Jiang Cheng wanted to contact her but realized he didn’t have any of her contact information.

"We can’t contact her, let’s wait for her to return," Jiang Cheng said.

At some point, Qin Nan already brought in the materials they needed and was busy with them.

"Nan, are these the materials we need?" Little Bai went over to ask Qing. Qin Nan responded with a nod, not stopping her movements.

"Do you need our help?" Little Bai asked.

"Little Bai?" Jiang Cheng called him. "Come here, we have other tasks to do."

Jiang Cheng watched Little Bai, who seemed eager to stick to Qin Nan, neglecting his main tasks, smiling at Little Bai’s behavior.

Little Bai came over, "What other tasks do we have to do?"

"We still need to handle this data, otherwise how will they proceed with their tasks? You go handle it," Jiang Cheng unusually handed all the data to Little Bai.

Little Bai accepted, sat down, and started computing.

Jiang Cheng went over to Qin Nan’s side to look at the materials. As he expected, they were high-temperature-resistant Jiezhi materials.

"Do we have all the materials now?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"More or less," Qin Nan said.

"I don’t know what ’more or less’ means. There’s also a type of rare energy," Jiang Cheng said.

"I don’t have it now either," Qin Nan said.

"What?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"White Flower Stone," Qin Nan said.

Jiang Cheng thought this must be something from here, but he certainly didn’t know what it was.

"White Flower Stone? We need that too? How do we find it?" Little Bai seemed to overhear something and came over to say.

Jiang Cheng remained silent, knowing it was unusual not to know something like this.

"Yes, but without it, we can’t proceed," Qin Nan said helplessly.

"What should we do then?" Little Bai was really worried.

"Wait for it. Wu Lei might have a way," Qin Nan said indifferently.

Qin Nan seemed to always casually call Wu Lei’s name, quite informally.

"But White Flower Stone is really rare, isn’t it? It’s really hard to find," Little Bai said.

Jiang Cheng still didn’t know what White Flower Stone was. He really had no clue what they were talking about. Little Bai seemed to pick up on Jiang Cheng’s confusion.

"White Flower Stone is found in extremely cold places. However, even if you go there, you may not find much, and even if you do find it, it might not be useful," Little Bai said.

Jiang Cheng didn’t expect it to be this tricky. How long would it take before he could leave?

"But this isn’t the worst part; the worst part is that we’re almost out of it here," Little Bai said.

"Why are you saying so much? Aren’t we aware?" Qin Nan asked Little Bai, who kept explaining.

"I’m just worried you don’t know," Little Bai said.

"Sigh. To make this happen, it’s going to be a long road," Little Bai said.

"Can’t keep going?" Qin Nan looked at him and asked.

"Yeah, feeling a bit tired," Little Bai said.

"It’s okay. I’m here with you," Jiang Cheng patted Little Bai’s shoulder.

After a while, Qiu Qingqing came in. She quietly walked to a chair and sat down without saying anything, still looking at the things in her hand.

"Qingqing, where did you go?" Little Bai asked.

"Eating," Qiu Qingqing said indifferently, without raising her head.

"Isn’t that a bit rude?" Qin Nan suddenly asked.

Qiu Qingqing looked up at Qin Nan briefly without any expression and then lowered her head, making the atmosphere suddenly awkward. Everyone fell silent.

"Hey? Should we go looking for White Flower Stone together?" Little Bai suddenly suggested, possibly feeling the silence.

Still, nobody answered.

"I’m not going! We won’t find it," Qin Nan suddenly said and walked out.

Little Bai glanced at Qiu Qingqing and saw she remained cold as if she had always been like this, regardless of the circumstances.

"How do we find it?" Jiang Cheng asked. Since Wu Lei hadn’t delivered it,

it clearly meant he didn’t have it. Now, they had to find it themselves.

"I don’t know. Someone said they found it on North Island," Little Bai said, looking bewildered.

"North Island?"

"Yes, at the northernmost island of our country. It’s very cold there and ten years ago someone said they found high-purity White Flower Stone there. Then many people went to North Island to find White Flower Stone but returned empty-handed. Some said you can’t return from there," Little Bai spoke feeling a chilly wind.

"Why can’t they return?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"There are many terrifying large animals there, said to eat people. Not sure if it’s true. Actually, I think many who didn’t return might have actually turned on each other," Little Bai said.

Jiang Cheng looked at Little Bai, feeling oddly in line with Jiang Zai’s thoughts.

After Little Bai finished, finding no response for a long time, Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing remained silent. "What-what’s wrong?" Little Bai asked nervously.

"Nothing. Thinking about whether to go to North Island," Jiang Cheng said.

"What? Bro, do you have to go all out like this? Let me tell you," Little Bai said as he moved closer to Jiang Cheng, "This project isn’t yours alone. Let Yi Company figure it out, why should you take such a risk?"

"I’ll go too," Qiu Qingqing said.

Little Bai looked at Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing in horror, "What are you two thinking? Do you really want to go? It’s dangerous there, life-threatening!" Little Bai had never spoken so seriously and forcefully before, clearly anxious.

Jiang Cheng didn’t know how to tell Little Bai that he couldn’t stay comfortably here forever; no one could predict what would happen next. Although he’d always been reminding himself to make the best of his circumstances, he still couldn’t get used to being controlled by others. Inside, he felt uneasy.

"Then you two go ahead. I’ll leave." Little Bai looked at Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing, neither speaking. Jiang Cheng wore the familiar determined look.

He more or less understood.

"Hey, Little Bai!" Jiang Cheng called, but Little Bai didn’t stop, soon exiting.
