Chapter 1298: Chapter 1297: Awkward Atmosphere

"No problem," Qin Nan said, glancing at the data.

"How small can the error be minimized?" Qingqing asked.

"What do you hope for?" Qin Nan inquired.

"Of course, I hope there’s no error," Qingqing said.

Qin Nan frowned, glancing at Qingqing, then at Jiang Cheng, "That’s impossible."

"If you’re serious, there’s nothing you can’t achieve," Qingqing replied.

Qin Nan didn’t speak, but her expression darkened.

Xiao Bai noticed the tense atmosphere and quickly chimed in, "Ah, nothing, nothing.

Qingqing is just kidding. How can there be no error? Manager Wu just said. Apart from you, no one can handle this project, right, Sister Qin?" Qin Nan looked at Xiao Bai with annoyance and said.

"How old are you?" Xiao Bai asked.

"Asking a girl’s age is very impolite!" Qin Nan retorted.

Xiao Bai pouted, "I really can’t say anything right."

Noises came from the door, and Qin Nan walked over to open it. It was her team members. As they walked in, Jiang Cheng noticed the group had about ten people and all seemed quite young, except for Qin Nan.

"Nan, are we really going to abandon our current project to do this one?" a young man asked.

"Yes, this project is a priority," Qin Nan confirmed.

All ten people came in, each taking a look at Jiang Cheng, Xiao Bai, and Qingqing. Eventually, they all stared at Qingqing.

"Ahem..." Qin Nan cleared her throat, and only then did the group look away, remaining quiet without discussing anything.

"The specific project is the Time Machine, and we’ll start now; take a break later to pack your things and prepare to stay at the company for the duration," Qin Nan instructed.

"The Time Machine? The top project in our company right now?" one of them asked.

"Yes, that’s the one," Qin Nan confirmed.

"Wasn’t it said they’ve been researching it for five years? How did it come out so quickly?" someone else asked.

"They just took over the project recently. They finished it quickly," Qin Nan explained.

Jiang Cheng noticed Qin Nan had a very patient attitude with her team, unlike her earlier impatience.

"Wow, this is amazing," someone exclaimed, with others echoing in agreement.

"As usual, let’s start by signing agreements: those who agree will stay, those who don’t can leave," Qin Nan said, pulling out a stack of papers.

"What’s this?" Xiao Bai asked.

"These projects carry risks, so you need to mentally prepare beforehand," Qin Nan replied, her gaze a bit gloomy.

"Of course, we’re sticking with you, Sister Nan," someone shouted, stepping forward to sign the document.

One by one, more people followed to sign. As Jiang Cheng watched them sign, he understood these projects were indeed risky, especially during production. Hence, mental preparation was necessary.

Researchers, regardless of their position, have it tough, don’t they?

Yet, Qin Jing stood on the side without a hint of worry. It seemed she’d done this many times before; her face showed no fear. Jiang Cheng was a bit curious about how she maintained such composure at her age.

After a while, everyone had signed. No one

backed down.

"Alright, everyone, get ready," Qin Nan instructed.

The people responded, "Sister Nan, is the research team joining this time?" someone asked.

"Yes, we’re doing this together," Qin Nan replied.

The group seemed suddenly excited, many laughed out loud, "This is great, yeah, like a fairy tale!"

Qin Nan was slightly bemused; in the past, everyone had dreaded the research team’s participation, but now with Qingqing, they were ecstatic.

"Sister Nan, are you joining?" Xiao Bai suddenly asked.

Qin Nan turned around, looking at Xiao Bai with a look as if she was staring at an idiot, "What else?"

"I’ll go prepare," Qin Nan said and left.

After Qin Nan left, Jiang Cheng chuckled, "What’s up with you? Why ask that?"

"Well, she wasn’t paying me any attention, so I was just making conversation," Xiao Bai said, a bit embarrassed.

Jiang Cheng laughed, noticing how Xiao Bai reminded him a lot of Zhao Shuai.

"Do we need to prepare anything?" Xiao Bai asked.

"No need. Let’s go eat," Jiang Cheng checked the time; it wasn’t early.

"Alright. Qing, are you going?" Xiao Bai asked.

"Yes," Qingqing nodded. Jiang Cheng was a bit surprised. Why was she joining him and Xiao Bai for a meal? Xiao Bai was also taken aback.

He stared at Qingqing, perplexed.

"Come on. What are you standing there for?" Qingqing had already reached the door while Jiang Cheng and Xiao Bai were still rooted in place.

"Let’s go," Jiang Cheng said, pulling Xiao Bai toward the door.

Just as they reached the door, Jiang Cheng saw someone standing there, realizing it was the bespectacled guy.

"Miss Qiu?" the man suddenly said. Qingqing stood at the door, ignoring him.

"Miss Qiu? I brought you lunch," the bespectacled man said, holding a lunch box, trying to hand it to Qingqing.

Qingqing still didn’t turn around, but her face showed impatience.

Jiang Cheng noticed the awkward atmosphere, unsure of what to do in this tense situation.

"Uh, I’ll hold this for you. I’ll help you give it to her," Xiao Bai took the lunch box and glanced at Qingqing. Qingqing turned and walked away.

The bespectacled man’s expression fell; his face darkened as he turned and left.

Xiao Bai was at a loss, holding the lunch box and looking at Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but find it amusing, "You handle it," he said, also turning to leave. Xiao Bai had no choice but to place the box on the ground and leave.

After following Jiang Cheng and Xiao Bai outside to a restaurant, "You guys go ahead. I’m leaving," Qingqing said.

"Ah, Sister Qingqing, aren’t you eating?" Xiao Bai asked.

"No," Qingqing said and turned away.

Jiang Cheng had anticipated that Qingqing wouldn’t join them for a meal. He and Xiao Bai sat down at a nearby restaurant. "Brother Jiang, what’s Sister Qingqing’s deal, though?" Xiao Bai asked.

"Oh, she’s probably avoiding the bespectacled guy," Jiang Cheng replied, only to realize he’d let slip his nickname for him.

"Bespectacled guy?" Xiao Bai looked puzzled at Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng rubbed his forehead, "Just the guy who brought the food."

Xiao Bai suddenly understood, "No wonder Sister Qingqing seems to dislike that guy. But-," Xiao Bai thought for a moment, "it’d be weird if she liked him."

Jiang Cheng stayed silent, lost in thought. "Brother Jiang, what are you thinking about?" Xiao Bai asked, noticing his absent-mindedness.

"Huh? Nothing," Jiang Cheng smiled at Xiao Bai. He had been pondering Zhao Shuai and the team’s matters.

"Hey, Brother Jiang, it always feels like you’re not one of us, like you’re leaving soon," Xiao Bai said earnestly, looking at Jiang Cheng.

"Why do you think so?" Jiang Cheng asked in return.

"I don’t know, it just feels like you came in and easily solved these massive problems. And you give me the feeling that you’re rushing to get something done," Xiao Bai explained, looking at Jiang Cheng.
