Jiang Cheng slowly drank the last sip of water, sighed, and continued toward the oasis he was headed to. No matter what, Jiang Cheng always felt that Qiu Qingqing might be here.
By the early hours of the next day, Jiang Cheng finally reached his destination. The exhaustion from prolonged driving left Jiang Cheng feeling fatigued, but all these emotions were swept away by the breathtaking scenery before him.
Jiang Cheng slowly got out of the car, put it away, and walked a few steps forward. If what he saw on the map before was the greenery amid these gray mountains and rocks, then now Jiang Cheng truly saw it. By the dawn light as the sun slowly rose over the distant hilltops, the oasis before him became more distinct.
The vantage point offered a clear view of the small town ahead. From afar, Jiang Cheng could see that the small town was almost encircled by large swaths of trees. It appeared there were some houses, but Jiang Cheng didn't see any cars driving on the road.
However...while enjoying the perfect scenery, Jiang Cheng suddenly thought if there were White Flower Stones here, wouldn't it be too conspicuous? Jiang Cheng originally believed that places with White Flower Stones should be uninhabited. But now perhaps he was mistaken. This way, it might be relatively easier to find Qiu Qingqing.
Jiang Cheng approached the front of the small town and saw the name of the place, Huangliang Town. Jiang Cheng thought, does it mean "Huangliang Dream"?
Nevertheless, having such a town here is indeed quite dreamy.
Walking down the street, the environment in Zhou Country here seemed similar to a modern town on Earth, except Jiang Cheng indeed saw no cars along the way. At this moment, it was dawn, and there weren't many people on the streets, making it look very empty. Shops in Zhou Country were also quiet, with few open for business.
However, fruit vendors had begun doing business, and now Jiang Cheng felt not only an emptiness in his stomach but also dizziness. The long period without sleep made Jiang Cheng feel very uncomfortable. Jiang Cheng pulled out his phone to check, surprisingly finding there was signal.
He headed to the nearest hotel to book a room, thinking he should sleep for a while first. Wandering aimlessly to find Qiu Qingqing wasn't realistic.
While Jiang Cheng slept, the small town gradually became busy. More people appeared on the streets, and the sunlight became increasingly bright. This small town became a bright spot in the desolate Stone Valley.
Around noon, Jiang Cheng woke up. He awoke on the soft, large bed to see sunlight streaming through the thin curtains onto the bed and floor. Jiang Cheng felt that the dangers and uncertainties of the past few days vanished after one good sleep. He stretched and felt truly refreshed.
Despite being a small place, the bustling streets made Jiang Cheng feel warm. Perhaps it was because he hadn't seen such a normal town for a while.
It also evoked many memories of Earth for Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng ordered a meal over the phone, then went to the large bathroom next door to freshen up. The rushed few days, being captured twice and repeatedly thrown into life-threatening situations, Jiang Cheng let the water wash over him, slowly closing his eyes and relaxing his muscles. It had been a long time since he felt this relaxed.
After a comfortable shower, Jiang Cheng's ordered meal also arrived. The waiter knocked on the door, "Sir, your meal, please enjoy." The waiter slowly said and then left.
Looking at the steak he ordered, Jiang Cheng thought it looked quite nice. It had been days since he had properly eaten. Jiang Cheng was worried that if it weren't for the system within his body, he might have succumbed to an early demise.
Jiang Cheng noticed there was even a TV here. It looked like a large liquid crystal screen. Jiang Cheng turned on the TV and casually watched the news. Everything here was advanced; at least it was on par with Earth's current development level. But Jiang Cheng couldn't understand why there were no cars. Through the window, he saw that people's main transportation tools here were bicycles and rickshaws.
After watching the news and finishing his meal, Jiang Cheng gained a general understanding of the town. This town was indeed a special existence, the only oasis in Stone Valley. Here, unlike the harsh living conditions of Stone Valley, the environment was beautiful, and the customs and people were quite nice.
He decided to go out for a walk. Jiang Cheng thought as he looked at the locator placed on the side, it still didn't show Qiu Qingqing's location. Where exactly is she?
Jiang Cheng dressed in a simple sports outfit and walked out, feeling refreshed. The receptionist at the door warmly greeted Jiang Cheng. He originally wanted to ask them where to go but decided to look around on his own instead.
Just stepping out of the hotel, Jiang Cheng saw that many places here sold shoes. Jiang Cheng could understand the nearby shops selling shoes, but seeing many shoe vendors on the streets as well made Jiang Cheng somewhat puzzled.
After walking for several meters, Jiang Cheng noticed many vendors were selling shoes nearby. Most were sports shoes and hiking shoes. Jiang Cheng felt the place was about to be overwhelmed by shoes.
He also heard the street vendors talking about how cheap their shoes were. Jiang Cheng casually walked over, picked up a pair, and looked at them. They were quite decent running shoes, but why were they sold at such a cheap price? "So cheap," Jiang Cheng said.
Cheap? Are you saying my shoes aren't of good quality?" A young male voice said.
Jiang Cheng put the shoes down and looked at the young man behind him, who looked no more than about ten years old, shorter than Jiang Cheng, with youthful and refined features but dark skin, probably often exposed to harsh sunlight.
"The quality is good," Jiang Cheng said.
Upon hearing Jiang Cheng's words, the young man suddenly burst into laughter, sounding quite cheerful. Squinting his eyes, showing his white teeth, he looked at Jiang Cheng, "You have a good eye, not that I'm bragging, but my shoes are the best on this street. Hehe." The young man said, looking quite proud.
Jiang Cheng couldn't help but be amused by his tone, like that of a child.
"But do you really think they're cheap?" The young man asked.
Yes, shoes of this quality are sold very cheaply," Jiang Cheng said.
"Ah, you're from out of town, right? You're definitely not from here," the young man said confidently, looking at Jiang Cheng.
"Yeah. I'm not a local," Jiang Cheng admitted readily, as he wanted to know more about this town.
The young man laughed, looking quite proud. "I knew it. Many people like you came before, thinking the shoes were cheap. But people here aren't willing to pay even such prices. No wonder." Jiang Cheng said.
"Indeed. By the way, how much would shoes like these sell for where you're from?" The young man picked up a pair and asked.
Jiang Cheng looked at the shoes in his hand, "Over a thousand, given this quality," Jiang Cheng said.
"How much? That much? Ten times the price, right?" The young man looked shocked, staring at Jiang Cheng, speechless, seemingly surprised.
"My gosh, why are they so expensive? I really can't imagine shoes being sold at such a high price." The young man said, looking at Jiang Cheng.
