Chapter 1322 - 1321: The Hypermarket

Chapter 1322: Chapter 1321: The Hypermarket

Of course Jiang Cheng wouldn’t lie to him. But the young guy still looked like he didn’t believe it at all. It was actually kind of funny.

"You’ve never left this town before?" Jiang Cheng asked.

When the young man heard what Jiang Cheng said, the excitement and surprise in his eyes suddenly went out. "No, I’ve never gone out," he said slowly.

"Is it beautiful outside?" The young man suddenly looked up at Jiang Cheng. "Some places are beautiful, but this place is pretty nice too," Jiang Cheng said as he picked up a pair of shoes from the young man’s stand. "And the shoes here are good and cheap." Jiang Cheng said with a smile.

The young man’s gloomy mood suddenly brightened. He started laughing. "Haha, bro, you gonna buy them?

"Yeah. How much? I’ll take them." Jiang Cheng said.

"You’re really buying? Doesn’t look like you came here just to buy shoes." The young guy said. "Then I’ll just give them to you, bro. I think you’re a really good person."

"A good person? You know what kind of person I am?" Jiang Cheng laughed. This boy was really cute. Jiang Cheng himself didn’t think he was a good— "I think you are. I’m pretty good at reading people," the young man said.

"Haha, alright, if you think so, then I’ll be one," Jiang Cheng said with a grin.

"But bro, you should prepare a few more pairs of shoes, at least here you’ll definitely need them," the young man said.

"What do you mean?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Our place, the reason there are so many people selling shoes is because the demand is huge. It’s weird here. Everyone who’s been outside says the ground here is different," the young man said.

"Different ground?" Jiang Cheng was a bit puzzled.

"Yeah, the ground here wears out shoes faster. Like those sneakers you’re wearing right now—walk a few days in them and the soles will be worn down so badly they’re basically done," the young man said.

Jiang Cheng was shocked. So the ground really was different? He glanced down at it and didn’t see anything unusual. "You don’t believe it, bro? Just try it and you’ll know. The ground here... honestly it’s kind of mysterious," the young man said, watching Jiang Cheng staring at the floor, clearly thinking he didn’t believe him.

"It’s not that I don’t believe you, I just don’t get why it’s like that," Jiang Cheng asked.

"Who knows. I don’t know that part. They say it’s because there’s something under our ground. But what it is, us ordinary folks don’t know," the young man said.

Jiang Cheng hadn’t expected a scientific answer from the kid anyway.

He just nodded. "So bro, what are you here for?" the young man asked as he packed up the shoes for him.

"I’m looking for someone. My friend is here," Jiang Cheng said.

"A friend? Where is she?"

"Uh, I don’t know either. I’m still looking for her," Jiang Cheng said. The locator was still dead silent. He had no idea where Qiu Qingji had gone. He couldn’t stop worrying.

"Here to have fun? But there’s not much fun around here," the young man muttered to himself.

"Mm. Where do you think she’d go?" Jiang Cheng looked at the young man, but his thoughts were drifting, and he was basically just talking to himself.

"I think... there’s a good chance she went to the Mega-Market," the young man said very seriously.

Jiang Cheng hadn’t expected his self-talk to get a serious answer. "Where did you say?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"The Mega-Market. They call it that, but I’ve never been. I hear they don’t sell normal stuff there. Sounds pretty mysterious to me. So I’m just telling you what I heard—I could be totally off," the young man said.

"They sell special things there?" Jiang Cheng actually felt like that place really might be it. "Where exactly is it?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Just up ahead. Ride a bike, it’s kind of far. Everyone around here knows where it is," the young man said.

"Alright, thanks," Jiang Cheng smiled, genuinely grateful to the young man. He thought, otherwise he wouldn’t even have a direction to search for Qiu Qingqing right now.

"Don’t mention it. I just think you’re a really good guy, bro," the young man said, scratching his head shyly.

Jiang Cheng smiled, picked up the shoes, left the money on the stand and walked off. Behind him he could hear the young man shouting, calling Jiang Cheng back to take his money. Jiang Cheng just smiled and kept going.

You could see bike rentals everywhere, and lots of people riding in the streets. Maybe because there were no cars here, the air felt especially fresh. Jiang Cheng felt like he could breathe it in as much as he wanted.

Jiang Cheng walked up to a bike rental stand nearby and picked out a mountain bike. "I want to rent this one. How much?" he asked.

The owner was an auntie in a bright red outfit, pretty eye-catching in the crowd. She glanced at Jiang Cheng. "Fifty an hour."

Jiang Cheng didn’t say anything, just took out the money and handed it over. "How long to get to the Mega-Market?" He looked down at the shoes in his hand. The shoes were actually cheaper than the bike rental. Either way, he felt like someone really needed to do something about the prices around here.

"About half an hour. Our place isn’t that big to begin with. The Mega-Market counts as pretty far," the auntie said, looking at Jiang Cheng with more interest than before.

"But what are you going there for? You’re not from around here, right?"

The auntie leaned in close to ask.

Jiang Cheng didn’t feel like answering. She didn’t look like an easy person to deal with. He got on the bike and was ready to ride off.

"Huh? This kid..." the auntie was still saying something behind him, but Jiang Cheng didn’t catch it.

Jiang Cheng took out the locator, checked the exact position of the Mega-Market, and pedaled toward it.

It didn’t even take half an hour before he reached the Mega-Market. Just like the young man had said, from the outside it didn’t look like a normal mall at all. To Jiang Cheng it looked more like a teahouse. The two-story building had an open design, and from where he stood he could even see the people inside.

Right then, something caught Jiang Cheng’s eye and his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He parked the bike haphazardly downstairs and rushed into the Mega-Market.

As soon as he stepped inside, he saw a few greeters at the entrance calling out to Jiang Zai. "Sir—"

Jiang Cheng didn’t wait for them to finish. He sprinted upstairs, heading straight for the spot where he’d just seen Qiu Qingqing. A lot of people along the way stared at him in surprise.

He even bumped into a few people. But Jiang Cheng couldn’t stop. He was scared—afraid that in this strange place he’d completely lose Qiu Qingqing. He’d been through enough danger himself; he didn’t want Qiu Qingqing to go through it too. He kept running, ignoring the stares of people from Zhou Country and He Country. All he wanted was to find Qiu Qingqing as fast as possible.

He ran to the spot where Qiu Qingqing had just been standing, but she wasn’t there. From here he could see the street below clearly. He didn’t know if Qiu Qingqing had seen him earlier. Right now his heart was filled with a huge fear and unease.

He didn’t know how long he stood there like that before he suddenly felt a hand pat his shoulder. Jiang Cheng jumped, and when he turned around, he saw that it was actually Qiu Qingqing.
