Chapter 2149 - 2150: Heading to Kaoshan Sect

Chapter 2149: Chapter 2150: Heading to Kaoshan Sect

The moon sets and the sun rises, a night’s time passes in Lin Chen’s cultivation.

After a battle, the spiritual energy that was consumed is replenished in Lin Chen’s dantian, making it even more abundant. It gave him the faint feeling of breaking through his current realm.

Perhaps he should look for more fights?

Lin Chen stroked his chin, pondering secretly.

Suddenly, a spirit boat, three zhang wide, appeared hovering above Lin Chen’s house. The wide hull blocked the sunlight, casting a huge shadow that made Lin Chen involuntarily look up.

"Lin Chen, come on up."

An inviting voice sounded from above the boat. Lin Chen looked up to see a beautiful young woman around the age of twenty, leaning over the rail of the boat and calling down.

Lin Chen had never seen this figure before, but he remained unmoved by her words. Without changing his expression, he lowered his head and prepared to head back indoors.

"Hey, young friend, come aboard."

Seeing that Lin Chen had no reaction, the woman pulled someone into view from the side of the boat. The familiar voice made Lin Chen pause slightly, and he turned back to see Chen Lin above. After a moment of hesitation, he leaped up from the ground and boarded the spirit boat.

"What’s the matter?" Lin Chen asked.

"Ah."

Chen Lin sighed softly and explained the current situation. Matters within the sect were truly vile, and it was obvious that someone wanted to target the Green Ripple Sect, so they had to investigate to find the culprit.

Upon understanding the reason, Lin Chen slightly raised his eyebrows. After a brief thought, he nodded.

Anyway, it was the same wherever he cultivated, and considering how little he knew about this world, visiting the outside wouldn’t be bad.

"Alright, you guys can go. Be careful on the way, and if you encounter a formidable enemy, burn this spirit talisman, and we’ll bring reinforcements."

Chen Lin reached into his chest, took out a spirit talisman folded into a triangle, and handed it to the lady beside him, then leaped from the boat.

As Chen Lin left, Lin Chen looked around.

This boat was much smaller than the one he rode last time. Including Lin Chen, there were only three people on board.

One was the lady beside him, tall and slender, especially with a pair of straight jade legs often peeking out from her skirt as she moved, drawing attention to her legs.

"What are you looking at?" The woman glared at Lin Chen and another man before walking into the cabin of the spirit boat.

Feeling somewhat guilty, both quickly averted their gazes.

"Lin Chen, I’ve heard so much about you."

The man gave Lin Chen a thumbs up. Although Lin Chen hadn’t been part of the Green Ripple Sect for long, his reputation spread quickly, making him hard to ignore.

"I don’t deserve such praise. How should I address you, brother?" Lin Chen walked up to the helm, clasped his hands in greeting towards the man beside him.

"Haha, just call me Feng Pingyuan," the man laughed.

He then pointed to the woman who had returned to the cabin and said, "That woman is Chen Jie. Though she’s pleasant looking, her temper is awfully bad. Her father is none other than Chen Lin from earlier, so don’t provoke her needlessly."

Feng Pingyuan explained, a gleam flickering in his eyes, as if trying to peer through the cabin’s interior.

Noticing Feng Pingyuan’s gaze, Lin Chen felt quite strange. Though it should have been lecherous, Lin Chen detected no trace of vulgarity from him.

"So she’s Elder Chen’s daughter."

Lin Chen suddenly understood, no wonder Chen Lin showed such concern for her earlier.

"Keep looking and I’ll gouge out your eyes!" A sudden shout came from inside, even through the door, clearly sensing changes outside.

"See?"

Feng Pingyuan turned his head, shrugged, and said, "That’s her foul temper."

Lin Chen smiled without comment, then asked, "Where are we heading now?"

"Kaoshan Sect, a thousand miles from here. If we hurry, we might catch dinner," said Feng Pingyuan.

Lin Chen nodded quietly, estimating there was still time. He sat cross-legged in an empty spot on the boat, intending to cultivate for a bit, as there was nothing else to do.

"If you get tired later, Brother Feng, just wake me up."

Lin Chen spoke softly. The journey was long, and although the spirit boat traveled swiftly, it consumed a lot of spiritual energy, making it hard for one person to manage alone.

With those words, Lin Chen closed his eyes, discarding all distractions the moment he shut them. The howling wind at his ears seemed incapable of disturbing his peace of mind.

"Truly a cultivation fanatic."

Feng Pingyuan murmured, since he joined the Green Ripple Sect, he had never seen anyone so dedicated.

The journey was dull without anyone to talk to, making Feng Pingyuan feel even more bored as he yawned, covering his mouth and gently patting it.

During his patting, a faint light emanated from his mouth, quickly disappearing into the air as if it were an illusion.

The light was so faint that with one person inside the cabin and another engrossed in cultivation, no one paid it any mind.

...

After an unknown length of time, Lin Chen slowly opened his eyes.

What met his eyes was the setting sun gradually sinking into the earth, its blood-red glow highlighting all the world as if cast in a faint bloody haze, giving Lin Chen the illusion of being in hell.

"You’re awake. Just in time, we’re almost there. If you hadn’t, we were going to wake you," Feng Pingyuan smiled from the corner of his mouth.

He was now standing aside, the helm now controlled by Chen Jie as they continued their forward journey.

"Time flew by so fast." Lin Chen felt that his cultivation took only a moment, yet the time passed rapidly, a whole day had gone by.

He stepped forward and looked down through the railings, observing from afar as a towering peak loomed. Below the mountain stood a few houses, from which wisps of smoke rose.

Lin Chen imagined he could smell the aroma wafting in the air, making his stomach growl in hunger.

"Hahaha, we’re nearly there, no need to rush," Feng Pingyuan patted Lin Chen’s shoulder.

As they spoke, the spirit boat floated closer, landing gently on the ground under Chen Jie’s control.

"Honored guests from afar, a humble feast has been prepared, please come inside."

A few people were already waiting on the ground to welcome Lin Chen and others. Standing on both sides of the boat, they made polite gestures as they disembarked.

"Much obliged."

Chen Jie retracted the spirit boat, spoke softly, then followed the others into the Kaoshan Sect as they were led inside.

Rows of disciples stood on either side of the path, seemingly welcoming Lin Chen and his companions.
