Super Strong Little Divine Farmer

Chapter 2150 - 2151: Kaoshan Sect

Chapter 2150: Chapter 2151: Kaoshan Sect

Chen Jie and Feng Pingyuan were already accustomed to such scenes, but Lin Chen marveled at them, feeling the formidable strength of the Green Ripple Sect for the first time.

Just their disciples coming could receive such grand hospitality, a testament to their might.

"Why has the main sect come to visit our sects this time? If you could tell me a bit, this old man could lend a hand," said the elder leading Lin Chen and companions inside, pouring a cup of wine as he inquired.

"There are no special reasons; we’re merely here to check the situation," Chen Jie replied serenely, smiling softly.

The elder bowed slightly, his expression touched and said sentimentally, "It’s truly considerate of the main sect. But the fare here is rather simple; I’m afraid the envoys might not be used to it."

"Not at all, Sect Master, you are too kind."

Chen Jie conversed back and forth with the elder; these matters were beyond Lin Chen’s concerns, as he merely accompanied. He was never adept with social niceties.

Thus, inside the room, he placidly ate the meal with Feng Pingyuan by his side, chatting occasionally, but nothing more.

...

About an hour later, the meal concluded amidst conversation.

The elder clapped his hands, and immediately several people entered from outside the door.

"You must be weary after a long day; we have prepared rooms for you to rest."

"Much appreciated."

With that, several people led Lin Chen and the others to individual rooms.

Lin Chen looked up at the sky; the bright moon hung high, casting a faint silver light. The night was much colder than at Green Ripple Sect, chilling even to the heart.

This coldness struck suddenly; after a moment of shock, the chill dissipated.

Lin Chen’s intuition was often sharp, prompting him to pause slightly, standing still.

"What’s the matter, sir?" asked the female disciple leading the way, holding a lantern and looking puzzled.

"Nothing. I just felt cold all of a sudden," Lin Chen replied casually, adjusting his clothes.

"It’s typical here at night; we’re used to it. If you stay longer, you’ll likely get accustomed too."

The female disciple turned around, continuing to lead and explain slowly.

"Mm."

Lin Chen nodded, following her through winding paths to a house built beside a mountain wall, shrouded in an eerie chill.

"You rest here, sir. I’ll return in the morning." The female disciple withdrew, but as she turned, her expression became wooden, moving away like a mindless corpse.

Lin Chen didn’t notice this oddity, but given the circumstances and his own strange feelings, he knew something wasn’t simple.

Kaoshan Sect seemed intent on separating Lin Chen and the others; upon leaving the courtyard, they went separate ways. Thinking now, something was clearly amiss!

Staying here is not an option!

Though unclear on the reasons, his instincts warned him, prompting immediate action. He tried to open the door to leave.

"Hmm? Locked?"

Trying forcefully, it seemed someone had firmly locked the door with chains, leaving just a narrow gap to peer outside.

Through the gap, Lin Chen saw a beam of light in the pitch-black night, illuminating everything as if in daylight, rendering the surroundings white.

In the light, he saw several people standing a few meters in front of the house.

They stood in positions seemingly governed by a unique order, with strands of black mist crawling from beneath their feet, entwining around them like webs, devouring their bodies, contrasting sharply with the glowing light.

At the center, one held a staff, raising it before them, from the floor-black strands emerged, oozing from the mouths of others into a thick black beam converging upon the staff.

The staff, under this dark beam, gradually intensified, especially the bead atop the staff, exuding an eerie glow.

As the beam’s intensity grew, the figure suddenly opened their eyes!

Their eye sockets were entirely black, devoid of any whites, their deep pupils fixed sharply on Lin Chen through the door’s gap.

The gaze was piercing, leaving Lin Chen sweating, and strangely, he found the power somewhat familiar!

Shutting the door, he gasped heavily.

Meanwhile, the shadow outside lowered the staff slowly, a black beam burst forth, piercing the door, striking beneath Lin Chen.

Black light sank into the ground, transforming it into a swamp, filled with muck like a gaping mouth, greedily trying to swallow Lin Chen’s legs.

Startled, but quick to react, Lin Chen leapt up from the ground, drawing his sword to slash at the door.

"Boom" rang an impact, but the door wouldn’t break; only a faint mark was left by the initial strike.

Unperturbed by failure, Lin Chen continued swinging vigorously.

Gradually, the marks grew, until finally, a blow broke a gap, allowing Lin Chen to roll out.

Outside, Lin Chen gasped at the sight.

A few meters ahead of the house lay the figures, now akin to dried corpses, lifeless on the ground, devoid of flesh, shrouded only by wrinkled skin over bones, extremely ghastly.

The central figure, however, had vanished.

The night was dark as ink, making it difficult for Lin Chen to find Chen Jie and Feng Pingyuan, prompting him to frown in thought.

Rip—

A sound as if tearing fabric arose behind Lin Chen, causing him to turn. He saw something emerging slowly from the decayed ground.

It appeared like a child of the night, entirely black and hidden within darkness. Only its drooling lips revealed it through the light sounds they made.

"What is this thing?"

Even as someone well-traveled and knowledgeable, Lin Chen gasped at the sight.
