She glared at Bai Li. How could anyone ask such a question? But seeing Bai Li looking at her expectantly, Yan Cijin thought that she always had to repay what she owed. Besides, she had promised to do pheromone therapy for Bai Li, so doing it was only a matter of time. She steeled herself, closed her eyes, and said, "Then, tonight it is."

"Okay, I’ll go back and tidy up a bit later. The house is full of supplies, it’s a little messy," Bai Li said with a smile. However, she felt Yan Cijin’s tone was strange. It’s just moving house, why the resolute tone? But Bai Li didn’t ask any further questions.

Yan Cijin glanced at Bai Li, thought for a moment, and then gritted her teeth and said, "I’ll wear my own clothes. I’ll save those lingerie you gave me for later."

Wearing sexy lingerie on the first time was unacceptable for Yan Cijin. If Bai Li really wanted to later, they could get to know each other better and she wouldn’t be so shy anymore. She definitely wouldn’t wear that now. She needed to talk to Bai Li beforehand.

"Oh, okay." Bai Li rubbed the back of her neck. What Yan Cijin wore was her own business; why should she tell her? She couldn’t control her.

Hearing Bai Li’s words, Yan Cijin breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Bai Li remembered the frozen food in her space and said, "Do you have any room in your fridge? I ate some wontons today; if there’s space, put some in the fridge."

"I should have freed up some space." Yan Cijin opened the bottom shelf of the fridge.

Bai Li placed some frozen food from her spatial storage on the bottom shelf of Yan Cijin’s refrigerator. If they moved into her own home, she would have to move this large refrigerator there as well. It could hold quite a lot of food.

The little girl was then carried to the floor by Yan Laojin. The little dumpling toddled over to the large backpack in the living room and asked in a childish voice, "Auntie, what’s inside this?"

Bai Li and Yan Cijin exchanged a glance, amused by the little one. Bai Li walked over to the backpack, squatted down, and poked the little girl’s cheek, smiling, "I’ll open it for you, you can see."

"Okay! I like Auntie." The little dumpling snuggled against Bai Li’s arm, acting spoiled.

"You little darling, so cute," Bai Li said with a smile.

She unzipped the backpack, revealing toys inside, and the little dumpling’s eyes widened.

"So many fun things!" The little dumpling took out a small dinosaur plush toy from her backpack and stroked the green fur on its back. "So cute!"

"I’m glad you like it. I won’t take these out yet. We’re moving soon, so I’ll take them out for you to play with when we get to my house," Bai Li said softly.

"Going to Auntie’s house? Yay!" The little dumpling said excitedly. She had never been to her auntie’s house before.

"Well, I’ll go back and pack first. You can stay at my house from now on, okay?" Bai Li picked up the little dumpling and asked.

"Okay, then Auntie can play with me every day." The little dumpling snuggled against Bai Li and acted cute.

Seeing that Bai Li was still coaxing the little one, Yan Cijin coughed lightly and said, "Then I’ll go with you first, and we’ll come back to pick up my mom and the others later."

"Okay, let’s go pack first," Bai Li said, getting up.

"Okay." Yan Cijin’s ears turned slightly red. In the pocket of her denim shorts were the finger cots she had taken from the small supermarket last time.

After the words settled in the room, the mood did not just change, it almost shifted into a completely different shape. The misunderstanding sat there like a tiny spark that kept refusing to go out. Yan Cijin was still trying to calm her face down, while Bai Li had already gone back to the practical side of things, thinking about bags, boxes, and whether she needed one more trip to the car. The little girl was the only one who seemed completely unaffected by the strange air between the adults. She was still hugging the dinosaur plush, still smiling, and still asking one question after another in her sweet little voice. In her world, moving house meant new places to look at, new beds to try, and maybe better snacks. That was enough.

Bai Li bent down and told her that Auntie would not forget any of the toys, and that the dinosaur could be the first thing to come out when they arrived. The little girl nodded so hard that her tiny bangs bounced on her forehead. Yan Laojin watched her and smiled. She had lived long enough to know that when a child was happy, the adults could handle most other things with a little more patience. Even the apocalypse, with all its mess and panic, still could not erase the simple comfort of a child being excited about a toy. That made the room feel more alive than any electronic light ever could.

Bai Li took another look around the living room and started mentally listing what they had to bring. There were the child’s clothes, Yan Laojin’s daily medicine, Yan Cijin’s personal things, and the few necessary items that would help them get settled at her place without having to come back immediately. She did not want to drag the move out over several days if she could help it. The later the outside world got, the more unstable it would become. The building already had signs of trouble. People were talking about water storage, electricity, supplies, and whether they should start moving valuables to safer places. In this kind of situation, being a little quicker than everyone else mattered a lot. It was not about showing off. It was about staying one step ahead of the panic.
