After swallowing the last mouthful of blood and flesh, Wu Yatu took the cloth handed to her by a zombie and was about to wipe the blood from her hands.

Then she noticed that the cloth was filthy.

Wu Yatu’s expression darkened.

She turned around and slapped the zombie across the head.

If it hadn’t been a high-level zombie, its head would probably have been blown apart on the spot.

The Level Three zombie didn’t dare make a sound and silently retreated.

It didn’t want to anger Wu Yatu, but it couldn’t help it. Its body was already filthy, and so were its hands. Naturally, the cloth had become dirty as well.

Since there was no clean cloth available, Wu Yatu stopped trying to wipe her hands and simply licked the remaining blood from them.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Indeed, human flesh and blood suited her taste much better.

It was a pity that they had only managed to tear out one heart before the rest of the bodies were devoured by the zombies below.

Three little mice had escaped.

She still hadn’t had her fill, so she had to think of a way to catch them again.

Wu Yatu made several strange sounds.

The zombies that had been wandering around her immediately shuddered and moved toward the door.

They needed to find new food for their leader.

...

On the Third Floor

Lin Yun watched the people and zombies rushing out of the mall and fell silent.

Two or three people had managed to escape?

The rest were all dead?

Then how exactly had those zombies suddenly awakened?

"Youyou, let’s go home quickly!"

Tuantuan suddenly spoke.

Lin Yun looked down at her.

"What happened?"

"There seems to be a powerful aura coming from the mall. It gives me a very bad feeling."

Tuantuan looked toward the mall.

She hadn’t noticed it before, but just now, at a certain moment, a terrifying aura had suddenly emanated from inside.

Lin Yun narrowed her eyes.

She didn’t think Tuantuan was exaggerating.

She immediately went downstairs and returned to the shelter.

Sang Biao jumped out of the backpack and lightly leaped onto the table. After settling down, he spoke.

"It’s not just Tuantuan. I noticed it too."

"But that aura only appeared for a moment."

Both Sang Biao and Tuantuan were animals, so they could keenly sense dangerous presences around them.

Lin Yun frowned.

Could it be... that the zombies had evolved?

When she and Song Xizheng investigated the mall yesterday, almost all the zombies they saw were Level One.

How could so many of them have advanced to Level Two in just one night?

Unfortunately, the zombies that had escaped the mall were already too far away, so Lin Yun couldn’t check their detailed information.

She sighed.

Forget it.

She would find out sooner or later.

Today was already Day 26.

There were only a little more than two weeks left before she completed the survival mission in this world.

At worst, she could simply stay inside the shelter for the remaining two weeks and spend her time tinkering with her various projects.

Thinking about it this way, Lin Yun relaxed considerably.

...

Wu Yatu wandered around the upper floors and eventually found a set of clothes that fit her.

She then ordered a zombie to collect some rainwater so she could wash herself before changing into the clean clothes.

After changing, Wu Yatu was quite satisfied with her appearance.

However, when she looked toward the rain outside, her expression gradually darkened.

Why wasn’t the rain stopping?

It was so annoying.

If the rain didn’t stop, how was she supposed to go out and find the little mice hiding nearby?

She was still hungry.

Wu Yatu stood up and walked toward the entrance of the mall, staring at the rain outside.

Then she ordered one of the zombies to search the other floors.

She needed an umbrella.

Before long, a relatively clever zombie returned carrying a battered children’s umbrella.

Wu Yatu’s expression darkened again.

She slapped the zombie.

Only afterward did she remember that she could simply wear gloves to keep her hands from getting dirty when she hit them.

"Useless trash."

Her voice was still hoarse because she hadn’t fully recovered.

Even so, she was already quite satisfied that she could speak at all.

After all, she had once been nothing more than a corpse lying underground, unable to see the light of day.

The fact that she had managed to return to the world was already a blessing.

But...

Was this really a blessing for humanity?

Wu Yatu thought these zombies were nothing more than mindless idiots.

She decided to go upstairs herself to find an umbrella and a pair of gloves before returning to the entrance.

Just as Wu Yatu was about to open the umbrella and leave, she suddenly stopped.

She remembered that those humans had been wearing white protective suits.

Wu Yatu turned around and glanced at the white protective suit that had long since been torn to shreds and discarded.

Oh.

It had been ripped apart by that dog.

It was useless now.

That was troublesome.

That white suit had to be some kind of protective clothing, right?

Without one, could she still approach humans safely?

Wu Yatu thought for a moment.

Then she suddenly scoffed.

Whether she could get close to them had nothing to do with a piece of clothing.

Why did she need it?

She changed direction and headed toward another exit.

It was true that she had died once.

But that didn’t mean she was like those stupid creatures of her kind that only knew how to run around and bite people.

Leaving through the mall’s main entrance would be far too conspicuous.

She could also use her appearance to deceive her prey.

Hmm...

Which direction should she take?

There seemed to be food somewhere around here.

Wu Yatu moved incredibly fast and soon caught up with the fleeing Nine Pockmarks.

However, Nine Pockmarks had no idea that the person standing in front of him was actually a zombie.

After all, what zombie could possibly look like a handsome man with long hair, a beautiful face, and fair skin?

Unlike ordinary zombies, Wu Yatu’s body wasn’t filthy or covered in lividity. Her exposed skin was surprisingly clean.

Nine Pockmarks had just escaped death, and when he suddenly encountered Wu Yatu, he was immediately captivated by her appearance.

"Beautiful lady... why are you out here alone? It’s not safe here!"

Wu Yatu smiled.

So he had mistaken her for a woman?

Fine.

It would be even easier to make a move if he thought she was a woman.

The zombies that had been chasing Nine Pockmarks had long since been driven away by Wu Yatu.

With her overwhelming strength, those useless creatures naturally didn’t dare disobey her orders.

Nine Pockmarks hid for a while.

When he heard no more zombies chasing after him, he finally believed that he had escaped.

"Oh, I’m from a nearby base. I came out to look for food."

As she spoke, Wu Yatu deliberately coughed twice, masking the unusual hoarseness in her voice.

Clearly, Nine Pockmarks didn’t suspect anything.

"I have some! I have food. I’ll give you some!"

"Hey, beautiful, don’t go toward the mall! There are tons of zombies over there, and many of them are high-level. You’ll die if you go there!"

Wu Yatu lowered her eyes.

"Is that so? But food is precious. I’d better find some myself."

Provoked by her appearance, Nine Pockmarks immediately raised his voice.

"No need! I can give you plenty of food! Wait here. I’ll get it for you!"

Although Nine Pockmarks was somewhat infatuated with Wu Yatu, he still retained a measure of rationality.

He would never reveal that he was an outsider.

Nor would he reveal the secret of the backpack he was carrying.
